@@JetFire9 first time home owner. Everything seems rocket science at this moment. I saw many tandem breakers in my electrical panel and freaked out that someone cheated by taking space of a fat breaker and put ‘weaker or low quality’ breakers in there lol
@@punkeyengineer It’s good to be skeptical about anything in a house that is new to you. Double breakers aren’t illegal, just like kitchen knives, but they can be used illegally. Depending on your setup, there’s a chance they could be in there illegally (code violation.)
I wish I could! Not all square D panels that use HOM breakers support HOMT tandems! Found this out the hard way. My panel is only 8 years old too. About as dumb as Schneider could get. Made life unnecessarily difficult this past week.
Where's the warning about multiwire circuits using black and red, and why we don't put the black and red on the same phase? Are you going to be there when the insulation on the neutral fails and it causes a fire because the current on the neutral just doubled? Be responsible with these videos. DIYers don't understand and licenses don't need you to tell them.
Okay, the music is a distraction and totally unnecessary. Do you want us to hear the music or what you have to say? Do you want your videos to be Informative or a mess?
I talked to an electrician I know about this comment. I could not see a reason why you would not use a tandem breaker with a ductless mini split and he agreed. They share the same buse bar but that should not be a problem. Can you tell me why you see this as a problem? Thanks for your conmment.
thanks for explaining. I have this and my B&D complete guide to wiring makes no mention of this "tandem breaker"
I did learn something. Thank you, now I know what to do if my box allows it. 👍🏼
Your video is awesome and most helpful. THANK YOU!
is that a Siemens breaker box? if so what model?
Sorry it is not a Siemens. The model used in this video is a Square D Homeline Cat NO HOMC3OUC Series S01
Clear explanation.
Is putting a tandem breaker legal?
Yes, do you think every home improvement store would sell illegal breakers?? 😂

Yes, tandem circuit breakers are legal to use as long as they are installed correctly and in panels that can support them.

No music please !

You know that is a single phase panel right.

If you can’t block out the low music and listen to his LOUD AND CLEAR instructions at the same time that’s a you problem
@@xperrf8260 i know, i read this comment and thought huh ? music wasn't loud, he was clear and informative.. i hope my panel can take tandem breakers
Don't ever use these on a ductless minisplit
