You showed GE circuit breakers at about 2:45 in the video. I was wondering what the little medal tab is on the bottom of the GE thin circuit breaker. I just had an air conditioning system installed in my house and they are using a circuit breaker similar to the GE thin you showed. Why is it there? It doesn't seem to fit in my panel correctly.
Does each Pole have to be on a leg of the bus bar? Meaning where there is a slot for the bus bar on a dual pole is it okay for just one side to click in, or does both have to click on?..
Not what I needed. You did not show or explain the different kinds of breakers, but you only showed different brands of breakers. For example, why does Square D QO have 3 connectors, and some have 4 connectors on the back to attach to the panel, and both are 30amp double pole?
hai david, i know the dryer used two pole 240 volt circuit breaker, is it ok to use two single pole with two 30a on it circuit breaker, with two line on it, 240 volt too ? thank you
David, what you can recommended how much A of circuit breaker at least for my home security alarm main control panel with power supply:9V, 300mA and strobe siren power supply 9-15V, 200mA. Is it 15A or 20A or less than for each?.
Bought a house a year ago as a fixer upper. THe cool weather is finally here so its time to change the panel. I currently have a crouse hind breaker panel with lots of different breakers in them. I need to decide if I want a Square de QO or homeline.. ugggg. I like the copper bus of the QO but everyone says they don't stay in the panel well. Any advice?
Ok, I have a problem finding a breaker. I need a 15 amp "stand alone" breaker that can be mounted to a base without having a buss bar. I have 30 amp single pole breakers of the type I am looking for; but you didn't show any such breaker in your video. The ones I have are Square D and have 2 mounting tabs, one on on each end. They have screw lugs on each end for attaching the wiring. The ones I have are basically a "slim line" (or half width) breaker. I would prefer to use a breaker for my application rather than an in line fuse. The system is 120 volt.
Thanks, I was trying to figure out what type of breaker I had, federal pacific with the stab lock. Thanks a lot for the info. I ordered one off of ebay, let's hope it works.
The Home Depot carries Schneider Electric's Square D "Homeline" and "QO" series miniature breakers, and one can see that they're physically not interchangeable. You only mentioned the "QO" series in the video. The value-priced Homeline breakers cost one-third to half less than the QO breakers, lack the visual trip flag and don't trip as quickly. Which one would be the better choice in a panel retrofit or in new construction?
5:12 Old breaker he pulled out of sombody. I haven't come across any application like that, but very interesting. Overall, thanks for the valuable lessons, very important and informative. Enjoyed it.
Was looking to be a VERY informative video on circuit breakers, until it became apparent that the most popular and safest circuit breaker Square D foot print was NOT shown.
Hi David thanks for the video... I have a question for you... did you ever come across a Eaton Cutler Hammer ( Black) which is a double pole but one tab is 30 amp and the other tab is a 15 amp tandem??? the 30 taps are green and 15 amp are black, so what I mean is on the same breaker you have 30 and 15 amp... so the 30 amp is lock together with a pin to the adjacent breaker.
Nobody ever answer the simplest question, how to read the amps on double pole breakers. Not 1 channel on yt tells u, not 1. Is a double pole that reads 30 on each side is that 60 amp breaker or 30 amp breaker.
Very informative video and thanks for sharing your knowledge with everyone. An apprentice like me definitely learned something and will show off this knowledge on a job site soon!
Excellent video! Knew them all but love the knowledge behind it all. Didn't know Federal Pacific got sued. Interesting! I assume ITE similar to Murray? I noticed you forgot to show the Pushmatics which are common in CT and some still have them.
I think he got distracted talking about the quick off function. They have two clips in opposing directions. One clips to the bus bar and the other to the body of the box. So they snap straight in rather than sliding behind a hook.
URGENT ! at my friends house i was shown a circuit breaker panel with a thin metal across the switch. i think it would prevent the breaker from turning off but my friend told me the thin metal was to save energy. have you ever heard of this ? Ps. i tapped on the tin and i think its non conductive. not 100%
The only reason I watched the stupid video was to see what the footprint of the Square D breaker looked like and that was the only one that you didn't show. My Square D circuit breaker has a clip on one end and a clip on the other end that is 90 degrees from the other one
I hope you find this video helpful...thanks for watching from Jones Air Conditioning & Electric in Naples, FL!

You've helped me identify my unmarked breakers as Cutler-Hammer tans. Thanks for posting this video
What’s the difference between the single pole the skinny and the fat one? Min 1:40
Does each Pole have to be on a leg of the bus bar? Meaning where there is a slot for the bus bar on a dual pole is it okay for just one side to click in, or does both have to click on?..
I have a Bryant type BR double pole. What does type BR mean. Many companies make type BR but you said it's not interchangeable.
what breakers are for a mobile home ? thanks
Everything you show here is newer than what I have. Right now I have a Federal Panel with screw in fuses and a sub-panel with pushmatic breakers!
Not what I needed. You did not show or explain the different kinds of breakers, but you only showed different brands of breakers. For example, why does Square D QO have 3 connectors, and some have 4 connectors on the back to attach to the panel, and both are 30amp double pole?
With the GE thick or thin double pole is there any reason they couldnt be used interchangeability?
exactly what I needed to know, my breaker box is all zinsco I guess I need to get some estimates to change the system. thank you for the video
Zinsco lost its UL rating and I recommend replacing. If you can’t afford it at least have an electrician check it for sparking.
What is the main reason why you must not interchange breakers?
OKAY . . .
My whole Development is fitted with C-H panels. Would you consider it an upgrade to replace the whole panel with Square D?
Can i use a double pole breaker that connects to 1 bus bar only to get 240v? Thank you!
hai david, i know the dryer used two pole 240 volt circuit breaker, is it ok to use two single pole with two 30a on it circuit breaker, with two line on it, 240 volt too ? thank you

Which breaker do I need to get if I wanted to replace all my federal pacific breakers?
Wow, exactly what I needed, thank you so much for taking the time to share your knowledge!
you didn't show the bottom of the square D. the only one I needed to see.
Hi, if my hole circuit bus is stablok, would you recommend i change it out. I have one bad breaker and can't gind a replacement

I know this is old but what is a snap in breaker ? I was told that is the type I need
I have an old ITE panal. It had one breaker that is two single poll and one double in the middle. It’s weird. Have you ever seen this type?
Really- your discussions on the differences are thin vs. fat and tan vs. black? How are they different specification wise??
I have seen three of the Square D's get loose on the bus bar I like the knife type bus bars much better.

I was worried about getting the best price and trying to find compatible breakers, but I guess I'll just use the Siemens 50a since my box is Siemens.
Hi there, how to use the "MERLIN GERIN C60H RCBO C16", I only saw 1 in and 2 out(LN)?
Thank you for the video. It helped me in identifying which breaker type to purchase for my panel.
Why don't you show the square D breaker connection on the bottom
Thanks, I was trying to figure out what type of breaker I had, federal pacific with the stab lock. Thanks a lot for the info. I ordered one off of ebay, let's hope it works.

Why not show footprints of the squ D
Why not double Siemens circuit breaker video!
5:12 Old breaker he pulled out of sombody. I haven't come across any application like that, but very interesting. Overall, thanks for the valuable lessons, very important and informative. Enjoyed it.

Just had one today in my hand from my older breaker collection.

if I was adding a 100 amp sup panel off a 200 amp main what size feeder cable should I use??
Depending on on how far, but anywhere from 6-2 Awg for 20ft - 100ft
How do you replace “PUSHMATIC ELECECTRIC” breakers from the 70’s?
Great job of education.
Very informative video and thanks for sharing your knowledge with everyone. An apprentice like me definitely learned something and will show off this knowledge on a job site soon!
You can use Classified Circuit Breakers in any panel regardless of what the manufacture may claim.
. . . as long as you have a Need-to-Know?
Why the breaker in my shed are too small and too thin compared to my home breaker
A safe switch
Excellent video! Knew them all but love the knowledge behind it all. Didn't know Federal Pacific got sued. Interesting! I assume ITE similar to Murray? I noticed you forgot to show the Pushmatics which are common in CT and some still have them.
Thank you for the informative video. I'm building my own home and have come across several of your videos that have been very helpful:-)
I am glad it helped..
Great video, mine just happened to be the second to last where you said to replace the system, yahoo. Fun stuff.
why didnt you show the d square foot print !!!!!
I think he got distracted talking about the quick off function. They have two clips in opposing directions. One clips to the bus bar and the other to the body of the box. So they snap straight in rather than sliding behind a hook.
So informative!! Thank you!
A 15 Amp will cover everything, none of those. Will pull any amp load. Hope this helped..
I didnt see the one i have. Its slides across rather then having a switch
Super helpful, thanks!
and where etn goes?
The federal pacific "FAT" is a NA series and the thin line is a NC stab-lok the third in this series is a NB B is for bolt in
what do you call one of the skinny cultur hammer switchs that clip on to 2 pole/pipe things
I am glad it helped.
thats what I miss about the Bryant breakers is the color coding.... now they are all black!
You forgot to mention that square D has 2 different type of breakers
thanks for the video very helpful
Probably shouldn't even mention federal pacific.
Agreed but never mentioned wads worth or push matic bulldog those are still legal to use just can’t buy the breakers new reconditioned and pricey
I didn't see a pushmatic breaker...
URGENT !

its sounds dangerous the breaker will not trip, you are correct take it off. I have never heard of such a thing,
thanks for your quick response and your sound advice.
I am glad to help
take it off
David jones Since that day the obstruction has been removed. thanks.
Thank you!
4:28 "Here is a double pole" ??? Looks single to me.
What about Homeline? Eh? The breaker 75% of electricians use that's widely available for lowest cost at Home Depot Lowes and amazon?
My blue bryants are 15 amp and 50 amps not 40 amp
I am glad it helped my friend.
😎✌️
Um….. Siemens?
If you don't know anything about electrical your can get poor quality jobs, work with a bunch of licensed electrician and they are very shady

Why people used class c break in most African countries.
can hear ads but not videos you tube is useless

your audio is too poor cannot watch
Until you turn the main line off, your not really safe
I guess you cannot be color blind ?
Federal fire starters, Lol.
I am glad it helped..
