I don’t know this woman but I trust her with my life
she showed up in my feed last month.. i feel the same.. she rules..
San Francisco, born and raised and yet I adore watching your videos so far. Don't understand why you don't have more subs. My wife and I find you very informative.
Awww, thanks! I think it's cuz I get a lot of out-of-towners who may not be interested in a long term subscription. But it's all good! Love that they are getting helpful info. :)
Seeing Hog Island brings back so many wonderful memories, my late wife loved it so much. RIP Chrissy...
❤️ Sending good vibes to you and your late wife's adventures at Hog Island.
I LOVE SEAFOODS AND I LIVED IN THE CITY.
Recently came back from my trip to San Francisco and loved watching your videos to learn about the city and get tips on where to go! Love your videos from Canada!
Yay! Glad you had an awesome trip and thanks for watching! 🥰
This seems very honest. The food looks great
Thank you for showing these restaurants and their dishes. I haven't tried all of them and now I have a new list!
San Francisco sea food also once again remind tasty of seafood so many kind of like sea food for example... clams oyster and tuna fish and one of history... 100 year's old seafood stores also unforgettable history of seafood anyway spectacular tasty... korea pancake pajeon also so many oyster keep down cooking... tasty so delicious anyway your food introduction also so gorgeous yummy...
I need to try cooking a seafood pajeon. Sounds yummy with oysters!
@@ZeeneInRealLife yummy thank you so much
3/12/2020: Nice to your smile and savvy tips, Zeene. I hope that these - and all - businesses survive this damned pandemic, and I hope that you are safe and well. Born and raised in S.F. [Outer Sunset], now living in Oakland, hoping to get back to sit-down eating again. Thank You for being your usual ray of sunshine.
Thanks so much Jacks P - you made my day :) Yes, I do hope that many of these businesses pull through. It's really sad when I have to report closures.
+1 on SF having some of the best seafood
Looks delicious!
Great job. I've been to most of them and agree. Hog and Swan are great!
Thank you!!
I’m a local and agree with all of our choices!!
Thanks!
Long line at swan. Try anchor bar in the castro
Also, good - thanks for the community suggestion!
Swan is on my list !!!
My bucket list too!
Great job you do! I'm a new subscriber~surprise!
Thank you! :)
The look on her face before diving into something delicious: “Don’t you wish you were me right now”. Lol
😂
You are the cutest.
12/5/2020: I have done most of my own cooking for 5+ decades, more important now more than ever. But I also willingly patronize a few local Bay Area eateries who can only do csrryout these days. So many will never reopen. But of those who somehow manage, the "Communitē Table" on McArthur near High Street in Oakland do a great job, with quality ingredients and interesting recipes, with enough veg/vegan frozen soups and some "sides" to augment my own veg diet. Somehow, Michelle is still hanging in there and able to provide food on a level of my own ["he said, modestly."] and worthy of support now AND post CoVid. She has been there 6 years and adapted nicely to today's terrible reality. [Open M-F 11-6]. Support her and eat well: win-win for all of us.
Hey thanks for the recommendation! Always looking for good vegan places and will check out Michelle's restaurant. And do let me know if you ever open up a takeout -- after that preamble I'm dying to try out your cooking ;)
@@ZeeneInRealLife "Communitē Table" is not vegan by any means, buf they do have some veg/vegan soups, salads and some entrees. Her warm-weather gazpacho is da bomb, as her many other other soups. Years ago, when I owned a Natural Foods store in DC [1972-1989], I was a guest chef at a nearby veg restaurant, always for my shrimp curry, and featured on tv a few times. I have cooked [always for free, paying for the food myself] at a few small weddings and funerals, and potlucks. I don't follow recipes, although I've downloaded hundre
...downloaded hundreds as inspirations. Everything goes better when people are happy sharing food, as YOU well know.
You're a gem.
So awesome. I'm like that when I cook too -- use recipes for rough guidance and then cook to where my tastebuds lead...
Have you tried the chowder at Bar Crudo? It's impossible for me to skip that and the Arctic Char crudo each time I'm there.
Yes, I love it! Though skipped it for this video in favor of more "exotic" fare. I think I need to do a "Best Clam Chowder" video though...😂😂😂
@@ZeeneInRealLife I would be interested in that. I grew up in New England, so I'm definitely picky about clam chowder.
I’ve had South African lobster and I have to yet find a place that can top it .. It was fantastic and out of this world .
South Africa does not have lobsters, they have Rock Crayfish, the best in the world!
They do not have claws!!!
South Africa does not have lobsters, they have Rock Crayfish?
@@richardselmarsterne9557 Sounds like "langoste/langostino" in the BVIs. Same idea, different species. Tasty!!
Holy shit $38 for a crab sammy!?
Crab is expensive :( On the plus side, there is a crab melt for $16 -- a bit less crab but you still get the same great crab/sourdough combo.
Prices?
Hi Evi Al, thanks for asking! Had a couple of other viewers who wanted pricing as well. I stopped putting them into the videos themselves as the restaurants keep adjusting for inflation so it becomes out of date very fast. I'll put the latest into the description boxes when I get a chance. Is there one in particular you were wondering about?
Thank you for the response!Yes the first and the second one
@@evial2266 For Hog Oyster, they run around $3.50 per oyster (raw) and the BBQ ones are $15/plate which usually has 4 big ones. I also covered their clam chowder in my Best Clam Chowder video and that was around $18 and was chock full of veggies and close to two dozen manila clams. Swan Oyster is mostly market pricing so will fluctuate. I *think* I paid about $20 for a half order of the "crabsanthemum" and about $16 for the fresh uni. Keep in mind that Swan Oyster is a no frills place so you are getting fresh seafood with little to no seasoning at a little above wholesale (and they *butcher* it all for you).
Sorry. Swan Oyster Depot is NOT in Nob Hill, but lower down in Polk Gulch.
Thanks for the correction!
@@ZeeneInRealLife Love your videos, lovely lady!
Thank you!! 💕
I visited Cioppinos and I was not that impressed by the cioppino, I found it lacking taste, it was served almost cold and I feel it is overpriced, love the Bonanza Cabernet!
Born & raised in The City. How does one go to Swans oyster depo and order Dungeness crab legs and not get the Louie dressing?????? That’s a big FAIL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hmmm -- I did get the Louie dressing. 😉 Feel free to rewatch the video if you want to see my review of it. It was the best part of the dish...
Ok I’ll rewatch it. I thought you stated that you got a mustard based sauce for the crab and not the Louie sauce. My apologies. I’ve eaten there since 1965 and always got the Dungeness crab legs with the Louie dressing, and of course the incredible sourdough French bread!!!!!👍
Noooooo!!!!!! You rewatch it. You said you for went the Louie dressing, or the cocktail sauce for the garlic and mustard dipping sauce!!!!! If that’s your preference that’s ok, but traditional Louie sauce is mayo based with lemon juice a little ketchup and a small shot of brandy. All the older SF establishments make that traditional sauce for Dungeness crab legs, or a crab Louie salad. Some of the great SF cooks taught me that when I always dined at their restaurants. But it’s a matter of taste, and I did enjoy your video. Thanks
Hmm -- you know you're right!! I made that video so long ago I forgot that I went off grid and got their "secret vinaigrette" that I learned about from this SF Chron article about Swan Oyster's secret menu: www.sfchronicle.com/food/article/At-Swan-Oyster-Depot-a-secret-menu-built-for-10591335.php. But you are 100% correct that the Louie dressing is the most beloved dressing there!
Thanks for your replies Zeene. I do enjoy your videos re:San Francisco. Although I no longer live there, your videos remind me of all the great wonderful places that I use to go to. I was born in the inner Sunset district, and The City is always in my heart!!!!!!! Keep up your great work! 👍
Fresh radioactive seafood
Background music is really annoying. Please upload one without the music.
Thanks for the feedback!
DAM THOSE TACOS ARE WAY OVERPRICED BIG TIME..
