It took me around 8 years to get it to that length. But your hair grows a lot faster when you're younger. Last place I had peking duck at, they had the option for "deep fried bones", and it was amazingly addictive. There's a tiny bit of meat left, and they gave it a light seasoned batter, then they season it with cumin and you gnaw on it... Really stretched the bones to be a pretty substantial dish itself.
I am so happy you came here to San Francisco. Born and raised and I still go to fisherman's wharf all the time to get good food and relax by the water. Safe travels to you both.
