I grew up in Philadelphia and remember when the movie was filmed back in 1986. Most of it was filmed at night when the store closed, so they pretty much had the run of the place. Andrew McCarthy said he felt like a vampire trying to get used to filming at night and sleeping during the day. Pretty in Pink was released in theatres when McCarthy was in town.
Love this movie!!!! I still listen to " Nothin's Gonna Stop us Now" all the time, I'm so glad these movies are still loved and remembered!💓Thanks Jordan and Jah!👋👍😍
I saw this film when it came out on a date with my girlfriend. Absolutely love the film! At the time was very curious of where the store was because it was so beautiful. Built in the days when stores and train stations were like palaces! I absolutely love that time period. And the Golden Era of Hollywood! Thanks for doing this vlog! Safe Travels J&J 🍀
Thank you so much for this. This was the very first movie that has made me the hopeless romantic that I am today ha ha. This movie when it came out as a child is one that I hold near and dear to my heart.
This movie is one of my favourite 80th films, I watched in Germany as a kid. Im from Poland a Land that has changed in 35 years so much that many places looks total different, but here it is great to see after 35years the places looks like almost in the movie. Good work, thank you 👍
This is one of my top favorite movies of all time! Perfect cast. Great little story. Loved Hollywood. Loved Rambo. Loved the relationship between Jonathan and Emmy. And especially loved the ending. Thanks so much for this fun vlog, Jordan!!!!
THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR POSTING THIS.. Watched a similar video to this last night, and loved this movie since 1987 - must have watched it 50 times or more (don't worry, we all had a crush on Kim back then!) ..I live in Liverpool, UK but plan to get to Philly & New York one day, and guess where i'm going first!
i am a big fan of the 80`s movies! The match between the soundtrack and tthe movie defined an extraordinary magic which enthralled millions of people around the globe! My best regards to all the cast members who afforded this magic moment into our lives.
I LOVED this movie when I was young! This is so interesting. The Wanamaker building is beautiful and such a neat piece of history, regular and cinema. Thank you so much for making this video. Glad to know there are other people passionate about the mannequin!
OMG, Mannequin was a favorite movie of mine and my sister growing up! :) Also, it was great to meet you at Elvis Week, Jordan.. I met you in the lobby of the Holiday Inn. Hope you come to Boston someday! You'll love it.. so much to see.
Thanks Jordan for an awesome vlog! I love this quirky movie. I was able to meet Andrew McCarthy several years ago and he couldn't have been nicer. (The latest book he wrote "Brat: an 80's story" is a really good read.) Thanks again Jordan for taking us to interesting places!
I watched this film in the theater in 1987, it was fun and a very watchable movie and magical. And then the Jefferson Starship song at the end really added a powerful punch of even more magic to it.
Love, love, love this movie. My husband is from Philla and familiar with this store. I’ve been to Wannamakers that were outside of the city but never to the flagship store. How much fun!!!
Thank you for this tour of our great movie. I was at a party years ago and entered a room where a lady was sitting and I said hello only to discover she was a mannequin. This gave me an idea to rent mannequins to people going out of town. I own a retired school and have placed 20 mannequins in different outfits around the building. You can buy mannequins from Walmart or Amazon for under $50 delivered.
This was amongst my favorite too. I didn't see the sequel though. I enjoy watching James Spader & Andrew square off in this movie as they did in Pretty in Pink. I chuckle with happiness when I see Andrew directing an episode of The Black List. I really hope that Andrew would have a part of an enemy or a frienemy to Spaders Reddington on that show someday.
When i saw Kim the first time, I fell in love with this woman. Andrew is so lucky.. I wish i was there in the 80s but i wasn't born till 91. I LOVE YOU KIM AND ANDREW!
Great job as always, Jordan! I loved this movie as a kid and even convinced my wife to make Starship’s “Nothing’s Gonna Stop Us Now” as our wedding song! We’re married 20 years tomorrow
Jordan, you did it again! Another great vlog. Classic 80's film I like a lot too. We're about the same age so most of the things you appreciate, I do as well. Funny movie. I haven't seen it in years and you were giving me good flashbacks. It was all coming back to me. We laughed at the same parts in the movie. I forgot how funny Spader's part was; what a snob. Cattrall was hot man. I was just about 7 years old, but whew, she was nice looking. And finally before you mentioned it, I had the Starship song in my head. Also good song. They just don't make em like they used to. Thanks a lot Jordan. God bless you and Jah.
This is one of my favorite movies. Watched so much as a kid and I think I am gonna watch it this week. So glad you got to go there. That is one beautiful building!
Hi Jordan, that was great, I loved the film 'Mannequin'. How funny, I was only playing the music video yesterday 'Nothing's Gonna Stop Us Now', what a fantastic song. Boy, that Sales Assistant you spoke to in Macy's has got some Macy's years under her belt if she was there when it was filmed. Jordan, you should have took Jah around in a little trolley cart ha, ha. Great job Jordan.
Thanks for this amazing vlog. My best friend from kindergarten Jill and I would watch this movie everyday, memorize the lines and would go to JCPenny at the mall pretend to be mannequins in the hat department. Jill past from cancer in 2015, thanks for bringing back the old memories.
Hey Jordan your matchups go unequaled Mannequin a fun movie with a classic Grace Slick song !!! My wife was there and heard the that organ ! Nice work !
I grew up in Philadelphia and was 11 when Mannequin was filmed but I knew the locations. Fortunately I went to high school in center city (Hallahan) and was in 11th grade when Philadelphia was filmed. Very cool when I got a glimpse of Tom Hanks and Denzel Washington. One place in Philadelphia that is a must see is Fort Mifflin. If you go do it in October when they do lantern tours at night. Very creepy and I got the chills more than once. Fort Mifflin dates back to the American Revolution and is fascinating in the day and scary nighttime. It’s also very haunted.
Who else use to watch the TV guide channel to see what was on and this movie happened to be on replay so, would just leave it on and watch it over and over
Loved this movie and loved the shop it was so beautiful, so good to see it hasn't changed (much). So many great 80s movies out there! The 80s did movies well, great storylines (maybe a bit wacky) but great! And amazing soundtracks! 👍😊
Friends and I visited Philadelphia 1990 enjoying the sites my favourite Wannamaker Mall Macy’s, I luv the old architecture in Philly, so neat to see how it’s changed the city preserved Wannamaker centre, Mannequin one of my fav movies I had a crush 😍 Andrew McCarthy
I’m always in that Macy’s at Christmas time for the big light show where the organ pipes are, and the Dickens display upstairs that they have. I lived there when they filmed Mannequin and they interviewed James Spader on the news. I didn’t know they shot Illustra (sp?) at Boscovs. Glad you blogged that movie. I forgot all about it. I wish they still made movies like that.
I was 11 when this film came out and I remember having a crush on Kim Catrall. There’s always a few films from your childhood that stay with you for life and this is one of them. Also Trading places that was also filmed in Philadelphia....hint hint .
I remember when they started filming this at the Camphill mall. It was right after the mall was finished, but I’m not sure it had opened quite yet. In any case, it is so cool seeing the store in the movie which are used to hang out in so much as a child. Brings back the great childhood I had and the incredible times I had there with my grandma and friends. Such an incredible area to grow up in, especially in the 80s with three huge malls within minutes of each other. Being Camp Hill Mall, Capitol City Mall and the Harrisburg East Mall. Three incredible malls all within minutes of each other a great place to hang out as a kid. With incredible stores and great arcades, not to mention some great food. Took my first girlfriend to my first date at the theater in the Capitol City Mall to see this movie when it first came out. Great times!
Your the fucking best love you find eighty movies and show how ur correct. Love u man. U deserve a million million subs. Makes me feel good to being back my good fuckin memories. It’s actually a natural high. Keep it up
Thanks for this video! It was great to see the inside of Wanamakers again, and knowing that is still there! Philadelphia has been locations for more movies than you'd think. Shooter, Trouble with Angels (1960's movie with Haley Mills) filmed at Arcadia University. The Reading train station in Witness. And of course Rocky! (did you run up the steps of the Philadelphia Art Museum like Sylvester Stallone? What a workout!) :-)
This is one of my favorite Andrew McCarthy movies! I was 10 when it came out. I seem to remember going to the theater to see it. Once it was out on video I always wanted to rent it. I had such a huge crush on him. Amazing vlog!
Love u jordan. Lots of appreciation for what you do. Lived in l.a. a while bk sad we never got to know each other .love this movie . Keep up the good work babe.
Wanamakers was the most beautiful department store ever. Everything about it was magic. The toy department put FAO Schwartz to shame. And, yes, it was "meet me at the Eagle" because the store then was not as open as it seems to be now. I also remember falling down marble steps to the lower level but those steps were not shown. The Christmas display was awesome. The film was shot in 1986 after I left Philly but seeing this makes me nostalgic. I must watch the film again.
I live near Camp Hill and go to the plaza where the Boscovs is often. My kids are tired of me telling them how an awesome 80s movie was filmed there. Lol
@@DazewithJordantheLion I hope you and Jah tried a soft pretzel and a cheesesteak? My city has so much history you could have been here for months lol oh and the Rocky statue!

Jordan, my son was born in 1980….you two both share so much 80’s culture love! He’s an illustrator/artist. You’d feel you met another good friend! He is so funny and sharp on all things 80’s-90’s, and really old Hollywood and a wwII buff….and on and on! But he still (at 41) has that school boy crush on Kim Cattralll!!!😂😂😂he is such a movie buff from all genres. He has taught his own kids, through reading and great movies, just how amazing those times, and farther back are too. He would love this vlog!
Loved that you did this video on Mannequin we have watched this movie quite a few times, Mary loved Hollywood and we both enjoyed the concept of this moving. There are so many funny things that have happened in this movie. Always love to see Jah and he is such a happy boy
i think that the scenes where the owner had her offices were filmed at the eye institute on city avenue next to Saks. this movie was low budget but it was a surprise financial hit
This is one of my favourite movies. I’ve forgotten how many times I have actually watched it. I’m also a big Andrew McCarthy and Kim Cattrall fan. The sequel was not that good. But I do own both of them on DVD. Thanks for taking us down memory lane. Great Vlog.
"That building" when describing the sign scene is the heart if philly thats boro hall... im related to the philly wanamaker's......theres a statue of him close by as well....Macy's does a huge Dickens walk thru in December
