CLIP DESCRIPTION:
Switcher (Andrew McCarthy) and Emmy (Kim Cattrall) take advantage of an empty department store and some good tunes.
FILM DESCRIPTION:
In Mannequin, a lame attempt to revive the style and panache of fantasy-tinged romantic comedies of the '30s and '40s, Andrew McCarthy stars as a department store window-dresser who discovers that one of his mannequins (Kim Cattrall) is actually a woman from ancient Egypt when she becomes animated one evening. She then inspires him to become the most expressive window-dresser the business has ever seen. Of course, there is intrigue involving a rival department store's attempt to drive the good guys out of business, and together the two store-crossed lovers must combat the forces of evil to save the day. There is no real mystery about what will happen in the course of the film; it all seems color-by-numbers. The only thing unique about Mannequin is its uniquely bad and illogical script, which has holes larger than the Grand Canyon. Mannequin was a surprise box-office hit, earning nearly 25 million dollars in just under a month of its release -- no small feat considering its miniscule budget and seeming lack of appeal to any particular demographic. It spawned an inferior sequel, Mannequin Two: On the Move, reaffirming the belief that anything is possible. In spite of being panned by critics across the board, it did manage to receive one accolade -- its theme, "Nothing's Gonna Stop Us Now," was nominated by the Academy for Best Song.

No lie I’ve always wanted to dance in a closed mall in the middle of the night playing 80s music dancing and trying out clothes.
Saaaaame
Just like Night of the Comet
Sadly this time has gone, and i was not even existed there 😁
You can dance there. It’s a Macy’s now.
Definitely
Mannequin is the most 80's "80's movie" I have ever seen.
try Secret of My Success
So was Wierd Science!
And Top Gun!
so is troop beverly hills
No, Mannequin is amongst the various 80s "80s movie".
Kim Cattrall was perfect for her role in the original Mannequin.
She's a forever babe.
This part, of this movie, is probably the best thing she ever did. It was prefect!
tweetums
Beautiful woman
Kim Cattral is the perfect 10
Also Police Academy.
It's good to have Romance in movies.
This is how love looks. Damn don't we all dream about love like this.
This movie is everything. It’s a lighthearted happy flick with great music, likable characters and a fun story. And it truly does represent the 80’s!
For a handful of white people. Srsly, there's a whole planet out there. But not for much longer.
@@lizziebkennedy7505 Okay, well, thanks for that. I hope things get better for you.
There probably aren't many movie scenes that sum up the 80's better than this scene!
Good call.
this was one of my ultimate fav movie when i was younger and it still makes me nostalgic to this day.....the whole mannequin concept was just magical to me and i really used to think mannequins will come alive at night :)
Quintessencial 80s:
- Karate Kid
- Miami Vice
- wake me up ( Wham)
- this scene
@Senyora Santibañez part 2!??? Errr part 1!???? Jesus!
Wierd Science (1985) when *she* entered the film.
I could LIVE in this scene forever....one of the best scenes from an 80’s film period 🤩
Sis I was born in the wrong generation and that’s on periodt 👁👄👁 Chile-anyways so
So could I.
Cuddling up to Andrew McCarthy would be one of my favourite parts of living in that scene.
ExclaMATION point!
You can feel the chemistry between these two just by watching them.
Rhaegos the Lightning agree
The way he smiles and looks at her at 1:08 especially proves your point
Rhaegos the Lightning I just watched this yesterday, and after I watched it, I really wanted them to fall in love in real life.
Technically they are married cause they did get married at the end so to say
@@Tutorialmaster17 I see your point. But not married in real life.
MrJoeylj semi married then! Just cause they were a real match together for the movie
So much 80's in one scene. I love it.
Pure 80s magic!
Facts
I wasn’t even born in the ‘80s and I love this decade!
Carlos Aponte same here!
Carlos Aponte I third that notion
Me too. 2003. How about you?

My dad loves this movie, I'd catch him watching this all the time as a kid.
It's such a great movie for us 80's kids
1) Your father has great taste & reading your comment made me giggle❣️
2) My dad LOVED that the best character in this film had the same last name…
“Hollywood… Hollywood *Montrose*”
He got a lot of use out of the line
“Doesn’t it just Sing!?!”
Como se llama esta película? No la puedo encontrar, me manda a ver otra película, mi novia es un maniquí, y no es.
LOVE this movie so much, Kim Cattrall is truly stunning in this film.
This is 80s gold.
I watched this film for the first time last week. I LOVE it!! A perfect example of a fun movie with likeable characters that doesn't take itself seriously - a far cry from what we have today.
Such a beautiful movie. About finding a place to express yourself and finding your love there too.
That's so beautiful.... Perfect description for one of my favorite movies ever.
Spot on
@Edgehead10075 Unrealistic yes, not dumb.
Heather Coulter I just watched this movie yesterday, it moved me so much that It’s now one of my most favourites.
It taught me that my true love is out there, this movie was the most romantic movie ever made!
Please reply, love to hear more of what you think about this movie?
Edgehead10075 I don’t think it’s dumb at all. This is good clean fun. And no, it isn’t realistic but it’s cute and harmless. And not dumb!
I love mannaquin, iv watched it a dozen times and never get fed up of watching it... My favourite movie of the eighties x
Great 80's movie.
Ok I didn't know there was a second one in the 90's.
For its genre, this might be the best music montage in movie history!
Kim Cattrall is like a fine wine - keeps getting better and better every single year x love her xoxo
Chanel Coco I totally agree!
rose colored glasses? She hit the wall hard.... I wouldn't touch her with any other guys member let alone mine. you ladies like to objectify men well sad thing about that is...Men do too... and you ladies hit the wall way before us guys do.
Shocke89 what a troll douche you are. You hit the wall of being a tool there.
Damn, someone gets NO ACTION in this comment thread (guess who??)...
For 63 she looks great. Alot of actress's tend not to age as well.
Yeah, it's official. I wanna go all the way back to the 80's. 2020 sucks.
AquaticSolstice you and me both
Can I join?
I loved the '80s!!
@@neonvibes3702 dude I’ll get a Delorean and you get the beer and Flux capacitor and we can get out of here fast!
Im with you !
I so miss the 80s
Michael knight me too. And I wasn’t even born till 2003.
Hey I grew up in the 80s and it is still the best decade ever! Im 45 now. The music, the movies, the shows, on the cusp of new technologies.... I feel privileged to have to have grown up in that time.

Listening to this song, watching these scenes, I get very emotional. It feels like my brain is popping and fizzing. It's like candy for my eyes and ears. I always loved this scene so much.
I miss the 80’s on daily basis.
This is proof of how awesome Andrew McCarthy is. The hat scene....I mean...come on 😎
Ikr? The adorability meter didn't just go off the scale, it walked off asking for danger money.
He is SO cute. 😻
I know! The hat scene is my favorite.
@@FreshSpecimensHandsome indeed.
We all know it's skill...charm doesn't hurt either for a low/standard budget date movie.
If the movie was made recently with an overpriced headliner actor, CGI would have deemed cheaper than finding real talent.
I remember this movie well...the 80s was such a confused stage which resulted in some very unique songs and fashion...I miss those days. Movies like this were so much fun!
It was a blessing to have known this era..sad THAT some people will never know
I agree best era.
💯 👍
I call bullshit you look like you're in your mid to late 20s
Ya Yo
Then we’ll just have to show them.
Born in 94 wish I was a young adult in the 80s 😔 y'all are truly lucky
Andrew must’ve had the time of his life doing this film
I believe he turned down the offer to do Mannequin 2 though.
@@jedijones Smart man.
@@FreshSpecimens I dont see why when his post 80s stuff doesnt hit as well LOL
Both actors are a natural fit to the movie. They so organically complement each other.
This is my favorite scene! I checked this out from the library last week and watched this scene three times before I watched the whole movie!
Kim was so beautiful and she still is.
I've been in love with Andrew McCarthy for years.
Me too.
Best movie montage. Ever. Loved this then. Love this now. Memories.
I love the music/audio quality!! Best audio of this scene I have ever heard!!
Hence why I downloaded it sharpish ;-)
Back when people didn't take themselves so damn seriously
Everyone was also optimistic about the future. Everyone had hope. Hope that things would get better and be better. It was a different era. An era of potential. Then it all went away. And now in 2021, no one has hope. Despair and misery is the norm.
And offended by everything 🙄 lol
This movie needs a special edition 4K UHD release ASAP! My number 1 movie, always will be!
Andrew McCarthy is a legend. He was on top of the world in the 80's and is now a great director of several tv shows.
As well as an author
Good looking too.
God I miss the 80's
Man I love the 80s. They were the best.
The perfect definition of music, fashion modeling and dancing in a closed mall 🌷🪩🎶💃🕺
I have 15 yr, 13 yr, and 11 yr old children. We watch lots of 80s. They love them and I'm happy I get to relive the movies that I watched as a kid in the 80s with them.
This movie is so delightful! Music rocks too! Takes me back to simpler times ❤
Come on iTunes or Netflix we need this,
And you tube
Still not on any of those, but if you're interested in renting it, it's available on a service called Fandango Now.
Now it’s on Stan
I had such a crush on Kim Cattrall back in the 1980s
Renting this from the local video store in 87 as a 17 year old boy I instantly fell in love with Kim. This scene was amazing with Alisha’s Do you dream about me, must have watched this scene a hundred times that night. It then probably took me the next 20 years until I had the interweb to actually find out who Alisha was and her music on RUclips..... still love everything about this movie, underrated 80s classic but to me one of the best......
80s baby here and so happy i was born in this era
I love this movie. Growing up in the 80’s was actually fun. We didn’t lock our front doors, we went outside and played till dark. We didn’t have cell phones so we had to have face to face conversations and people were sociable back then and not so jaded like now.
When you wanted to go out with someone, you called then up on the phone.
The 80s were awesome!! People actually talked to each other kids played instead of staring at a stupid phone screen!!
Y'all really are idealizibg the 80's. As I recall there were divorces, school fights, kidnappings, murders, and all kinds of egregious stuff back then. You just didn't hear about it because the internet and social media didn't exist worldwide.
@@Childfree334 , yes we didn’t hear about it that much but I enjoyed the hell out of the 80s. Great music, great movies and like I said people actually communicated with one another .
There has always been crime and murders and divorce but I’ll bet that there are a hell of a lot more divorces now and also kidnappings due to social media.
Also, did you grow up in the 80s?
@@Childfree334 , and given the chance , I’d take a time machine and go back into the 80s now over what we are living in now.
@@tanyathompson2396 I am 50 years old. I grew up in the 80's just like you did. I guess we just had totally different realities. You in your utopian suburban bubble and me in the ghetto. Same crap, different decade. 🤷🏾♀️
8 year old watching this on the telly at my Nan's with my mouth open loved it what a gorgeous vivacious couple.
Still here in 2021. Still drooling over Kim in this film.
I was a 90s teen (born in 84)but LOVE this movie...even more than dirty dancing!
I would rewind and replay this scene again and again as a 11-12 ish year old. If I ever met Kim cattrall in real life, this is what I would tell her I loved her in, she is so cool. My favorite is the tropical outfit
It's like I always say, the music and movies from the 80s were and are the best! Love this movie! ❤🎶🎬👍🏻🙌🏻
We just finished watching this on DVD - a lot of people knock it, but we really enjoyed it! A great, light and enjoyable movie from less worrisome times...
What who would knock this film!? This is a classic
Elizabeth Figueroa A lot of people do. I am convinced that those people have no whimsy and no sense of humor.
This department store is gorgeous...I remember shopping there! It’s Macy’s (previously Lord & Taylor) in Philly.
But originally Wanamaker's
I miss the 80’s
And Kim I believe was already 30 here....and looked amazing!
She was great in Police Academy and Big Trouble In Little China too
Before the massive plastic surgery, 😕
@@djnickuk1 I’m confused by your comment. She is one of the few people who doesn’t look like she has had surgery. Maybe I missed something.
Great movie I miss the 80s.
Andrew Mcarthy is so 80s..brings me 80s nostalgia
futbolero10 he was beautiful
@@iloveretrorider6675 He was absolutely.
Old enough to see this when it first came out, was 5 years Kim Cattrall's junior - enamored to say the least; to this day, the most fun I have ever had watching a movie.
These two must of had so much fun filming this.
Who still loves this goofy flick in 2024? The friend/coworker at the end needs more kudos too 😂👏♥️
Hollywood!!
@GachaRobloxHatedChild thanks I couldn't remember his name lol.
I was born in 1978, so the 80's/90's were big for me. This has always been one of my favorite 80's flicks! This and DATE WITH AN ANGEL.
I loved Date with an Angel. I'd love to watch that again, wouldn't know where to find it though.
My favourite Kim Cattrall movie.
This movie is such a Classic 💙💙💙💙💙💙
Kim Cattrall was awesome in this! Lord I miss the 80's!
She's absolutely adorable
One of the best part of this wonderful 80s movie.
Miss the 80s
Andrew McCarthy is so cute in this movie! It is such a classic!
He is, definitely and I'd kiss him.
no other movie scene is as good as this, makes me want to dance! Kim Cattrall is such a stunning woman, I had a huge crush on her when I was a kid. Happy Birthday Kim!
I saw this when it came out. Usually, i hate these type of movies, but this one worked for me. A young Kim Cattrall probably didn't hurt my attitude.
This is the best scene in the movie.
This was one of my childhood favs growing up. I'm now 30 and I watched it again last week. It's a great film. Kim Cattrall wow she was very seductive in this film.
Kim Cattrall is literally gifted with an ageless sort of beauty, here at 31 she literally looks younger than a 24-yr old Andrew McCarthy. A perfect actress.
I think Andrew and Michael J Fox were the cutest guys all women in the 80s had a crush on... but seriously, Andrew has something, cutie pie indeed
I still have a crush on him myself. Was definitely my type.
Best Part of the WHOLE DAMNED FLICK ... *PERIOD.*
Never mind just plain FUN.
I remember watching this movie as a kid. Didn't really understand the romance, just the funny stuff they would get into. Haven't seen it in over 25 years now!
Just found this song on itunes…yes!!
Oh had the biggest crush on Andrew, throw in Kim so great. I always loved this movie so underrated great chemistry between them. I’m coming from being a 80 something baby but love the classics😊
This was one of my first favorite movies! I was 4 when it came out! I miss those true to life mannequins! After seeing this movie I used to just make myself freeze randomly until my mom noticed like I was a mannequin! I mostly did in the grocery store or the mall haha
HAHA!! That's so funny
Do you dream about me - Alisha

My favorite part of the movie as a kid! 😍

This song and montage has played in my head every now and then since I was a kid. What a huge crush I had on Kim catrell and the woman who sang this song lol. TThis sequence is the epitome of the 80s
I love Andrew McCarthy and Emilio Estevez and they my favorite 80s movie actors and brat pack members.
When I was a kid, I won one of those statue contests at the roller skating rink using Emmy's pose at 3:27. I think I got a free drink or something. :-)
Greatest 80s movies and the songs in Mannequin are so great. They need to rerelease it on CD and iTunes. The actors are so great. I hope a remake is not in the works.
The best decade ever!
Andrew McCarthy & Kim Cattrall 💕💕❤❤💖💖💗💗

Loved this movie and still do! Andrew McCarthy is soo cute in this! And I loved the fashion ..still come back to this feel good movie and music (born in '82) 🎉🎉
Andrew McCarthy was so gorgeous indeed. This is one of many movies that made me realise I'm bisexual.
Such a wonderful movie. The chemistry ❤️
I like her moves, she's a beautiful woman. I love this scene
when u let go of so much and decide to have fun, life becomes so great!
Ahhhh, just to go back again!!💘
Best era for clothes/cars/music and movies.. I just need a time machine to go back to enjoy it a second time..
I don't know why this movie was rated so badly. It was my favorite movie as a kid!
The 80 s were the best best music best movies I wish this era would come back
Kim looked dammed good in every scene.
Philadelphia represent!!!
As a 4 year old I always hated when she turned back into the mannequin, I remember how much her looks blew my mind as a kid
First date with a cute 16 year old girl ....25th wedding anniversary next year
Peter Franks That is freaking awesome. :)
Awwwww, I'm glad for you!
Congrats!
So awesome!
this was a precious comment. Congrats.
Porky's, Police Academy, and Mannequin. Kim Cattrall had one hell of a run in the 1980's.
romcoms of the 80's were the best, not to say the 90's to now don't have some good ones but not as much
as the 80's. romcoms nowadays lack the same imagination, well most of hollywood nowadays lacks imagination.
