I was lucky enough to get one of these a couple weeks ago and it became my favorite rye I have ever tasted, Blueberry muffin is a perfect note. I would love to get the 10yr or older age stated ryes from Michters. Such a great pour. Cheers Matt!
The 10 year is Phenomenal picked up 2 bottles kept one gave one to a buddy of mine..needless to say mine is gone

I opened a 25 year old scotch and was disappointed at first. I came back about a year later and it was much better. It is often a good idea to give a bottle a chance to oxidise a bit cheers Andrew

You should do a head to head with this and the Knob Creek single barrel rye.

I am moving out of the country in September. Flashing back to your "what 5 whiskeys/bourbons would you keep" video is hitting hard. What's worse is I'm trying to deplete my collection before I go...which also means no more new bottles. So even if I could find this bottle I probably wouldn't get it because I don't want more bottles to get rid of....it makes me sad 😪
I have had samples of this sent to me on several occasions and they were always really good. I finally got a bottle of my own (held out until I could do so at retail)
I use the regular Michter's Rye in my cocktails. Love it

Coming back to a bottle after opening it is something people talk about a lot. I think it would be interesting to see you go back to whiskeys you already reviewed a month+ earlier and see if you’d revise your initial grade. Maybe not enough content for a video unless you did a string of them, but maybe could be an idea for some shorts

Oh man, so damn funny. I got this one too, and one from last year. 2021 was amazing start to finish. I had the same experience with the 2022. First time wasnt as bad as yours, but it wasnt as kapow as 2021. Second time round was damn good. Id give 2021 a 93 and 2022 an 86.
I always love the Michter’s Barrel Strength Rye! I think the 2022 is better than the 2019. I also like the Michter’s 10 year rye, but would take this barrel strength every time. I also prefer this over the 2020 Michter’s Toasted Barrel Barrel Strength rye (which is also very good). Cheers!

Very few whiskeys do not change substantially with air time, so too many reviews don't offer a good insight into what the bottle will truly taste like .

I had a glass of some Michter's Barrel Strength Rye at a bar probably about 6 or so months ago, and I found it underwhelming. It's a good rye, but I'm not sure what all the hype is about. Despite being barrel proof, it struck me as soft and lacking in the flavor department. The flavors that are there are good, but they're very gentle and not nearly as bold as other ryes I've had that are readily available. It's a good rye to drink if you just want something casual to watch the game or a movie with, but it didn't strike me as something that demands your attention. For that reason, I don't see the point of chasing after it and paying inflated prices. There are plenty of other ryes I'd rather drink.
Well for $250+ it's gonna have my attention whether it deserves it or not.
Got a bottle of the '21 and tasted it against their 10 year old over Christmas. I think the overall preference was the 10 year old. However, also got to taste their 20 year bourbon. OMG that was heaven in a bottle.
This rye is quite good. Old Carter rye still blows my mind, but this is a total winner.
Old Carter rye is slightly better overall. I agree. Amazing bottle. I can find michters bs rye much cheaper tho... Huge msrp gap. Michters wins as far as value.

any thoughts on decanting a new whiskey before tasting? Seems like the booze in the bottle neck never tastes as good as the booze below the neck.

I thought last year's was much better than this year's. It was almost identical to KO batch 4, maybe a hair less minty. This year's Michter's bsr has a funky burnt molasses thing to it that seems off a tad.
I almost bought it the other day. Wanted something special… and went with Elijah Craig 18 instead.

Didn't need to watch the review and I knew it was a hitter just because it's Michter's. I'm a fan of anything Michter's, even the "lowly" Michter's American. So bummed there won't be a M10 bourbon this year, guess I'll have to search for one of the elusive M20 bottles (right after I win Powerball)...

Have to confess, I am a bit torn on the whole dishes thing. I mean why have kids if you can't force them to wash dishes and work construction jobs to help out the Fam? Bunch of freeloaders sitting around playing video games and eating my food when they could be providing income to pay for the electricity and hot pockets. Not to mention my fat fingers can't fit into a Glencairn to clean it, that requires tiny fingers. Sure I could lose some weight, but that really sounds like a lot of work designed to make me miserable. Now pets, especially dogs, are excellent dishwashers as they just keep cleaning them until most are broken anyway and then you just sweep the pieces up and into the trash can. But dogs really suck at construction. Don't get me started on cats.
