What a message! The more I listen to John, the more appreciate what he says. It’s rich. It’s deep. And it’s biblical, as far as I can ascertain. A line from “Chariots of Fire” attributed to Eric Liddell (though he didn’t actually say it) was: “When I run, I feel God’s pleasure.” That is how I best convey what I experience when I draw, too. When the music is off and it’s silence, the Spirit of Jesus within me does come alive. Grace and peace.
I not a Christian but when you speak of mystics I'm in. You make me believe im a Christian. I believe Christ is not a literal man. Love your stuff man. The True Self is Christ. This man Jesus knew it and taught it. Paul knew it.
"Inner chamber of contemplative solitude", "silent attention and daily adoration of first love" I love the language you use in this video John. Could literally feel myself falling into stillness. Thank you, this is a great one 😍
"Not climbing into union but effortlessly feasting on a union that is already ours" Excellent. I would just say not 500 years, but nearly 2000 years of grace-filled hesychastic "falling in."
Thank you, John! Once we understand that we already have union with God, in Christ, then we can stop chasing the elusive carrot. Then we can "be still and know God."
Very interesting. I recently became aware of contemplative meditation through Richard Rohr and practice this daily on my own and every Saturday with a Catholic Church group in Westminster, London. I love this intentional practice in having union with God. Richard Rohr suggests beathing "Yahweh" "Yah" on the in breath and "wey" on the out breath which really does help with centring before sitting in contemplative silence. Thank you so much for talking about this.
@@nickdelancy2731 The Blessed Sacrament is in The Catholic Church. Look up "Eucharistic Adoration" or "Holy Hour". Being Catholic - or Christian even - not required.
John, I drink from your videos! Hope you and your beautiful family are doing ok! I hold you in my heart and prayers. I'd like to know if you could, please, activate the captions on the videos. I'd like to share them with my family in Brazil, but they can't English. So they watch every video on automatic captions in Portuguese. I'd love to share it! Love how much I learn here!!! 🥰 Thank you so much!
I have tinnitus and struggle in a similar way. Just sit with it and keep bringing your mind back to Jesus. Every time you notice the ringing, gently bring your mind back to the Lord. Do this as many times as necessary and don’t lose heart!
Thanks for presenting contemplative practice under the immense banner of the finished work of Christ. Beautiful. We need to have you back at the Glory Barn in Canyonville John.
John, absolutely love your content. It’s deeply impacted me. Why the Richard Rohr quote though? He doesn’t even believe In the core beliefs of the gospel.
Blues Man, you asked this question 2 years ago. I hope you get my reply. Reading Richard Foster's book "Prayer: Finding the Hearts True Home" changed my life. It's a good place to start. God bless you.

"Our society is addicted to noise." Wow, what a convicting statement!
This is simply beautiful . Thank you Sir

I have been focusing in on forgiveness
I love the phrase: "navel gazing". It makes me laugh when I catch myself doing it! And that snaps me out of it. This was so good. TY!
