I don’t understand what got into her mind to sing a darker repertoire in the last few years. Lady Macbeth is NOT for her voice. She’s off key, wobbles and overdoes it. It’s painful to hear. What a shame.
Not really a role for her but hey, we gotta sell tickets. Unconvincing portrayal. Her voice lacks the drive, bite & chest to pull it off. This is Lady Macbeth not Violetta! I hear an undeveloped Lyric-coloratura soprano taxed beyond proper limits. And the D-flat at the end was underpitched.
Unfortunately for her, the histrionics do not take attention away from the poor singing-out of tune, wobbly, throaty. This has been going on for years. And she's only fifty!
Only 50 and she sounds like this. She wobbling, off pitch and has no care for the music at all. She's an absolute disgrace of a soprano. Joan Sutherland always said the reason her voice lasted so long was because she took care of it and never sang anything that would strain it. She was absolutely right
You're kidding me. She is off pitch half the time, swooping and crooning, messy with tempo, wobble wobble, flat D-flat (not pianissimo of course). A singer who disrespects her music.

You can be sure that I can’t care about this person, but I care about the Royal Opera as well as other major houses around the world and opera in today’s world. And the point is that this is not singing, let alone bel canto. She was NEVER a spinto nor even lyric soprano, let alone dramatic. She never developed solid technique, and when she “transitioned” to heavier repertoire, got even messier as she is wobbling, her core isn’t there and her notes lack body from her lows to middle and to highs. bad singing. the role is not suited to her voice type, so she artificially darkens her voice, which is simply vulgar. besides, there is excessive vibrato, unsteadiness in tone, wobble, which aggravates the situation even more.

This is a surprisingly good performance from Anna Netrebko who normally sings too dark I this role but she seems to have vocally improved 👍 This is still far from a stellar performance but certainly a welcomed improvement.

Critics like them are either just jealous of her glorious talent because they all wanted a singing career and thank heavens failed at having a career. Bravaaaaa Anna.
Yeah she's not brilliant. She's done irreparable damage to her voice by singing the wrong things. Lady Macbeth is a voice killer and Netrebko never had the voice for it nor Aida. I am a trained organist and tenor and all I hear is damaged vocal cords and the voice being pushed therefore extreme/
@crazyorganist1609 You could have fooled me. I am not that gullible. I have been singing opera as a tenor for years in many famous opera house even La Scala. I might not be that famous but I know a quality voice when I hear it and thar is definitely Anna Netrebko. Why is the opera world so envious of her talent and her fame? She is absolutely sublime.
I have seen her many many times, have seen her in this role and love her - but this is not a good vocal performance. I'll still see her because she's thrilling on stage, but here, in spite of a few glorious moments, she's frequently off key and does not not seem to be in control of her huge voice.
She does NOT have a huge voice. She never had and she will probably not. Some voices do grow and can sing heavy repertoire, in this case of lack of proper technique, it is not even a possibility. She is a soubrette or light lyric soprano at most. Tatyana was her limit regarding vocal size, and she should’ve stopped transitioning to repertoire like Leonora, Lady Macbeth, Aida, Turandot etc. Helen Traubel had a huge voice, Birgit Nilsson had a huge voice, Renata Tebaldi, Eileen Farrell, Margaret Harshaw, Jessye Norman, Grace Bumbry, Eva Marton, Ghena Dimitrova, Martina Arroyo, Hildegard Behrens, Aprile Millo, Shirley Verrett, Alessandra Marc, Jane Eaglen, Deborah Voigt, Sharon Sweet... They all had/have huge voices, Netrebko does not have one.
The most in-tune singing heard from hear for a while now. Also the cracks are gone. I hope it is a step in the right direction. Too much weight above the stave makes the notes unstable though.
@@tarejso5632 I disagree. Hernadez and Tatiana Melnychenko are way better than Pirozzi whose core is very underdeveloped regarding Lady Macbeth. She should(ve) si(u)ng lighter repertoire which is for her voice.
