- While on our cruise, we tried finding as many animals as possible at the ports the boat stopped at! We didn't find as many reptiles as we would've liked, but we sure did find some other neat species!

Trying to help the giant creepy spider and getting ick-ed out by the spider at the same time had me dying 😂 so relatable
Right?! That "I'm trying to help you!" but also "DON'T TOUCH ME!" feeling😂
Im so gad i found this comment before i watched this whole video😭😭
I would've given it a ten foot berth and not even touched it. Spiders are the reason I can't do tropical areas.
Like, when that part came on my screen I held my phone as far away from my face as my arm would allow. Just, yuck.
Thanks for letting me now Im so glad that I found that comment.
lol😂
I know you guys wont see this, but thank you for the years of happiness you've given me! from fun snake facts to cute snake babies you guys kept me company in my loneliest times. My mom has been in the hospital for a good 2 weeks now and with the weight of realizing im almost a adult now you guys have kept me company :D I love you both keep up ur amazing work
Sending you and your mom lots of love ❤❤❤
Blessings and healing sent your way hang in there

Cane spider is what I know those big spiders as (the one at 2:30) and they are fast! Also, incredibly scary when they just appear near the ceiling on a wall in your house at after-dark-o'clock.
Omg i remember these dudes showing up whenever i thought let’s sit in the living room for the once in a blue moon my parent’s were not home… the nightmares. My non agoraphobic friends would scream and never come back to that room
I'm Australian, we call them huntsmen. They're simultaneously chill and lazy while also being zoomy and aggressive. They can stay in the same corner for months, or they can cross a room in under a minute because you looked at them wrong
I found one in my shower once, scared the hell out of me 😂😂😂😂
Cane spiders are a huntsman spider species
We have a similar spider in my country and my mum has dropped several bowls of cereal because of them suddenly appearing (once one crawled out of her sleeve and onto her hand!). Super scary but harmless XD
That feeling of "OH GOD" while also trying to help a critter is SO relatable😅
Emily: these spiders are not dangerous
me, an arachnophobe at the verge of hyperventilating: they are if they give me a *heart attack*
I couldn't watch that part!
Same... xD
Yeah, same. Snake Discovery and Clint's Reptiles are both helping me with my arachnophobia, but that one was still too much for me right now.
i love spiders but your comment made me laugh 😂
I went to Costa Rica a few months ago! Some animals I could identify were:
Green iguana
Spinytail iguana
White throated Magpie jay
Great tailed grackle (I saw a baby!)
Capuchin monkey
Mantled Howler monkey (almost dropped a mango on my head)
Unknown jumping spider species
Variegated squirrel
Moon jelly
Hermit crab
Unknown crab species
Unknown sea slugs
Morning geckos (possibly)
Raccoons! (They were in the restaurant!!)
Unknown Seahorse
Paper wasp
Central America amieva
Blue morpho
Unknown butterflies
Sandpiper
Little blue heron
Unknown small yellow birds
the yellow birds might be bananaquits, they have yellow bellies and hang out on the resorts.
Yeah, the green iguana are super invasive in Puerto Rico
Aren't green iguanas super invasive everywhere they can be? They are survivors.
My cousin went a few months ago too!
Green iguanas are native to Costa Rica. In the Caribbean, they were mostly introduced, but there is the possibility of them being carried by storms on rafts, not the man-made kind. Especially from 1 introduced island to others where humans did not bring them.
They are a species that are very good survivors.
If anyone told me you were going into a tunnel of doom, I would absolutely believe that it was following a reptile 😂
They would go through shelobs lair from LOTR following shelob lmao
I watched one of those exact types of Huntsman haul a full size house gecko straight up the wall. She sat there staring at me with this gecko hanging out of her mouth like some creepy 8 legged Jaguar, lol.
That tunnel adventure had me on the edge. You guys are so brave
It helps when you have an adventure partner. Altho word of warning to others, be careful where you go, as you may be prosecuted. The real horror: lawyers
I had no idea about jelly reproduction, thats pretty incredible! My favorite part of your channel is all the cool knowledge you share. Animals are so cool.
I can’t believe you where in Puerto Rico my island! I got so hyped, hope you guys enjoyed your time here! And yes their is a big variety of species here ❤
Right! I feel like i missed an opportunity to bump into them lmao.
0:58 I think that little bush on your left there might be a baby black locust tree. I’m not 100% sure if it is, but black locusts are really cool. The wood is very hard and resistant to rot, the flowers are edible despite the rest of the tree being toxic, and the wood glows under black light
My grandparents lived on St Thomas when I was a child and we used to "hang" the lizards on our ear lobes (they bite) for pictures. The 80s were different.
Actually fun snail fact, even though they have both types of gonads, they actually can't mate with any snail because their shells have to be in the same direction, otherwise it is too difficult for them to "lock up".
Finally, recognition of the Mediterranean house gecko in the reptile community!
Definitely looks like an old abandoned military battery! Very familiar with the one near the camping grounds we like, Battery Russel- it's along the bike trail there so we always hang out and picnic over there. I'd never seen another though so it was weird seeing this one! All concrete and random holes, including the giant gun turret hole.
We used to think it would be AWESOME for laser tag in the dark... but the random holes in the ground make that a liiiiittle too dangerous 😂 Petition to modify old military batteries to be safe for laser tag!
I love how the video just turned into a found footage horror movie half way in 😂 that tunnel was so eerie.
So glad you guys had some time to just have fun. Thanks for including us!
Yeah, they didn't include us for the tax write off & an excuse to use Patrion funds AND get paid while on their vacation cruise.
As a Jamaican 🇯🇲I was cackling at you trying to catch a ground lizard. 😂😂 They're RIDICULOUSLY quick, and are actually known for being more aggressive than evasive. You haven't felt fear till you've been chased by a Jamaican ground lizard 😅😂
I gotta say this channel really fueled my spark of interest in reptiles, and now I just graduated vet school and am planning to work on exotics, especially reptiles! Hope you guys enjoyed your vacation!!!
Fun fact: the official terminology for animals that were thought to be extinct but are later found to be alive and well is “Lazarus Taxa.”
How do you pronounce that?
Catching lizards with your partner seems like vacation goals.
This is the only channel that can post non-content related videos and I'm still happy to watch. You two are the highlight of my Tuesdays 🎉
As a huge fan of horror and creepy things. All my instincts were going nopenopenope when the went to the tunnel. The ending didn't help it either xD
Puerto Rican here:
1- So sad you didn´t get a chance to view/catch a Coquí frog. Although I´m sure you heard it in El Yunque since they´re everywhere.
2- All my life I´ve seen those spiders and didn´t know they were Jumping Spiders.
3- The Puerto Rican Iguana...good luck. I don´t know of ANYONE that had catched one.
4- As for the milipedes I remember playing with them as a kid in school.
Good job finding the butterflies! Sorry about the lack of reptiles. Still a fantastic trip. Thanks for sharing it with us!
After looking through the different species of snails in puerto rico i believe The snail found at 6:09 is Nenia tridens
That’s gotta be it! So glad you figured it out, I’ve been dying to know. I love the way they looked.
Millipedes are the most precious little things ever 🥰🥰🥰
Wow! That was pretty brave going into that abandoned bunker! I like how you decided to just "get outa there!"
I have always wanted a snake, but my mother is terrified and my father doesn't like to try new things. But watching your videos has made me happy. Thanks for posting great reptile videos all the time!
You'll get there :) Use this time to study, and someday you can care for one when it's right for you.
@@LaviniaDeMortalium Thanks for the support. : )
Ed: there are a lot of hornets nest in here so… don’t get stung.
Emily: …okay!
Me: 😅😳
❤❤❤
Love a Herping video with some Urban Exploration mixed in!
Herping and finding bugs while on a cruise would be awesome, amazing fun. Emily's enthusiasm made me smile.
This reminds me of the herping I did while on my honeymoon in St John just over a year ago. I caught some small geckos and almost caught a ground lizard as well but they are so wily. I ended up catching two different green iguanas including one who was taking a dip in the ocean. He was so calm and didn't try to bite or tail whip me at all.
thanks so much for filming during your trip! hope you enjoyed it :)
There last video was a vlog of this trip xxx
@@Sammie-Lou-Miss-UK I know :)
@@lisallisle3409 ahhh Okies… My bad… I’m sorry I thought u may have missed it wit asking if they enjoyed it… I apologise again xxxx
@@Sammie-Lou-Miss-UK no worries!!
9:44 assuming I got my Googling correct, this looks to be Fort Segarra, meaning that this is absolutely a gun emplacement! We've got some similar locations up on the northern Oregon coast, found a garter snake out there once
This is the comment I was scrolling for! Thank you!!
I say it all the time, you 2 are such an adorable and fun couple!!! I love your videos and your personalities so so much!!! I'm glad you had fun on your much deserved vacation!!!
Its fun that u guys caught footage of the spider kicking the fly. Ive seen my tarantulas do this with springtails and it never fails to be funny. A tarantula punting a springtail into the aether for daring to touch the precious peets.
That tunnel trip nearly became a horror movie. 😅😅
Anyone else want to see Emily and Ed ghost hunting or herping in haunted places? That would be really cool! Love u 🥰 guys so much!!
Herping in Salem!
Just advice leave resting places be... I've heard creepy stories and well it's one thing to want to do it and another to experience it. One of the houses I stayed at in Midwest just has a feel that and mixed with "this is an old home" it's like a horror movie. Normally I wonder at night to grab water or whatever...that night I didn't I stayed in bed wishing for sleep to come. Why? It took one night for me to fully understand why everyone crashed out at night. My partner was asleep, no one else around yet heavy military boots sounded behind me but there was nothing. No I did not look in the mirror I acted normal, but uh there is a rule and that is don't acknowledge the presence of something just act normal.
Some people have it really bad to where people get hurt, but yeah it might sound fun until you potentially upset something o.o if one does just be very respectful. Some places are not playgrounds.
So the snail with the long shell are Clausiliidae, Common name "door snail". Mostly left-handed air breathing terrestrial snails.
Goodjob!!! I always love watching reptiles and your other animals! Its amazing how big your company has grown!
My daughter is a big fan of yours, thank you for making amazing content that our family can enjoy! Have an amazing trip! We also love to travel, and Royal Caribbean is awesome. We are equally as curious about all the creatures!
That was soooo creepy in that tunnel I'm glad you had a good time your a hard working young couple thank you for the great videos
Your pretty brave, I don’t know if I’d be roaming around abandoned looking places in Puerto Rico, that how you get kidnapped and human trafficked. 🙃
Hey @snakediscovery
I know your really busy with the zoo and breeding/hatching season but I haven’t seen much of Cheyenne on the channel lately and I would love if you guys could do a video with her!
You are beautiful people and you deserve to have these incredible experiences. Thank you for sharing them with us!
How else could they write it off & use Patrion funds.
@user-wy1it2vm3b Do you expect them to do nothing with their money? They work hard and do their best. Don't envy people who are happy, it's ugly.
@@user-wy1it2vm3b Some you-tubers use their funds from RUclips and Patrion irresponsibly or in ways that don't benefit their fans, but snake discovery is not one of them. They use a lot of the money they earn to take care of their reptiles, keep up and even improve the zoo/retail center, adopt out reptiles through adoption island that had no other hope for a new life, and even do some cool pin give-aways at reptile events! I know you don't want the money people give to snake discovery to be misused and you are just looking out for others but you must remember that Emily and Ed want what is best for this chanal and its fans just like you! One last thing to keep in mind is that everyone giving money to snake discovery is doing so under their own terms and completely consensually so if they didn't like what was happening they would stop if they wanted to! I hope this puts into perspective how much snake discovery cares about its wonderful fans like you :)
@@caitolent You are coming from a good place and I agree with you but remember to always be kind when correcting someone with a misunderstanding! You are a great person for standing up for others and that is very brave and good-hearted thing to do. Always remember some might not know the information that you do. Keep being a great person!
@lainiecooper5556 Usually I am, but I take a person's intent into consideration when correcting. For example, I wouldn't be rude to you, because I know that you're coming from a place of compassion and a wish to do good. That other user is commenting with the intent troll and do harm, hence their anonymous username. Since kindness will get me nowhere, I won't even waste my time.
Not sure if someone has commented this before but the dead snake in El Yunque looked more like a Magliophis (Puerto Rican Garden Snake) than a Borikenophis (Puerto Rican Racer). Cool video. Hard to herp with the limited time at port!
“everyone on this cruise is partying down there and we’re out here looking for lizards!” :)
Sure you guys weren’t ghost hunting along with herping?! It’s funny because Emily said it was creepy and I immediately thought it was a great place for hunting ghosts and then something made a noise! I knew it! 🥴💀
I loved the stands for AF:stands for awesome fun 😂
Jellyfish are like living flowers with how they grow 😂 they are so weird
I was in the Dominican end of May to work as a nurse in rural communities! Not sure how far in advance you film and publish these but I’m kinda fan-girling at the idea we were on the island during the same time!!
The bugs were insane!!!
We asked our guide if there were any deadly predators on the island and her response was only the Tigres 😉 (reference to the passionate men)
I literally have never owned a reptile but your channel is one of the few reasons I check RUclips still. Hope to one day road trip to visit your gorgeous zoo ❤
I hope you enjoyed your trip, you always managed to put a smile on my face with your videos and I have been watching for over 5 years now, I still remember Janet.
Shoot, I'm from the Dominican Republic, kinda sad you couldn't find much when there are so many different reptiles here! Awesome to see you here though hahaha, never thought I'd see the day.
Same I was so excited
You won't find Ed and Emily relaxing while on land during vacation, you'll find them out in bushland exploring the different animals 😅
I love your content, viewer from Australia ❤
My anxiety when Emily and Ed entered the dark, creepy tunnel: 📈📈📈📈📈📈📈
I think I might be slowly getting less scared of spiders. Very slowly. Maybe.
...Except for that big one, crud no, I would move to the next galaxy if I found one that big in my house
So cool that you got to hang with Atala butterflies! It’s one of my favorites- I even have a coin tie that needs separating and repotting so I can have Atalas visit ❤
I'm glad you both had fun, and thanks for bringing us along. I hope you both had a fun and relaxing trip.
Ed: concerned warning Emily
Emily: *shrug* ok
12:04
Happy to see both of you on my island, Puerto Rico... Giant anole, racing snakes and coqui... el Yunque is perfect but next time maybe you can go to the west.

this is literally one of my favorite youtube channels ❤
I love seeing you guys having some fun/relaxing time! You guys deserve it!
That giant spider looked like it was hugging the wall for dear life
I saw on Twitter where someone reads AF as "as foretold" which will forever be how I read it now. Love your videos. I'm glad you were able to go on vacation and have a good time.
So fun! Thanks for taking us with you!
Emily: this is sweet!
Ed: this is creepy af
love the duality here
If you're going reptile herping:
you call Emily and Ed.
If you're going ghost hunting:
Who You Gonna Call ? Well ... not Emily and Ed 👻 ☺️
Thanks for the AF (awsome fun) video.
You guys definitely need to have a holiday and visit Australia we such cool and deadly wildlife
Awesome iguanas~👍

I'm surprised I didnt hear the Coquis while you were in El Yunque lol they're usually so loud hahaha
