Dave Filoni is absolutely right that Star Wars should leave you happy and uplifted...which is why the sequel trilogy is so awful. I walked out of every single one of those movies feeling depressed and saddened, as they systematically destroyed the original characters, turned them on their heads and made them unrecognizable from who they were in Return of the Jedi. This isn't character development, this is character assassination
Doesnt explain why their creations are barely average then. Hey guys I have this GREAT IDEA for a new show. its going to be about a tiny group of clones with defects that actually make them the best troopers ever created! Oh, but here it is with them babysitting a little girl, but of course the girl is magically better than they are because she is a girl. The Bad Babysitters. Hey guys I have this GREAT IDEA for a new show. Its going to be a Star Wars western with an ultra-badass bounty hunter! That turns out to be a babysitter, isnt a badass and spends most of his time not bounty hunting, wrapped up in a story so piss poor I will have to bring in a hell-uva lot of pre-existing characters to try to prop it up and make people forget about how not good the story actually is.
Agreed, I felt extremely depressed when I left the movies after seeing The Shitty Jedi, so much that I skipped ROS and only now this week came back to the movies to see Dragon Ball, and boy its great to leave the movies excited seeing some work done on a beloved franchise by people that care about it!

The good that we've enjoyed of Star Wars since Disney has taken over - has all been because of Dave Filoni. George even lovingly one time called Dave his son.
How about GINA CARANO!!! You guys didn't even mention her. Great Actor! Great Character! She should have her own show and show Disney can be more forgiving & understanding & LESS WOKE. BRING GINA BACK! Silencing her has been done. These 2 Director's should grow a pair and fight to get her back. I Guarantee she would get huge ratings.
I appreciate these guys I just believe as long as Kennedy has anything to do with Star Wars it's going to be very hard to produce the kind of stories they and the fans really want.
Why would she? Her job is taking Star Wars stories to the future, not reminiscing about the past that is no longer canon. There would be nothing wrong if she did mention the EU, but there’s also nothing wrong with her not.
@@johngrayson9218 there’s a difference between moving forward and mentioning the story groups struggle today because “lack of books and source material” is just an example of her finger pointing for not understanding the franchise she runs.

I like the way he says “After return of the Jedi, between episodes 6 and 7 I guess you could say” makes me wonder how they see the sequel trilogy in how they talk about the time period. It’s always “after return of the Jedi” and not “before the force awakens” and if they do use the sequels as reference they’re usually dismissive of it. I wonder if they will end up tying these stories into the sequels at all. Which I don’t mind if they don’t lol
It’s because this timeframe takes 5 yrs after RotJ and ~25 before TFA. The impact of the Empire is still present, this timeline is impacting little by little on the events of Episode 7. These are the seeds of Luke’s failure (referring to his appearance in TBoBF)
@@alvarosd3566 I would argue that Filoni is simply showing what he (Filoni) believes to be the correct way of being a Jedi, and not sowing any seeds for the sequels. But who knows.

@@TheRivrPrncess I thought I’d take you up on your offer to say what I had problems with rather than just trash talking it. The storytelling was very sloppy. Boba’s motivation should have been more clear from the beginning. The antagonist should have been introduced in the beginning and not with as many fake-outs. It shouldn’t have been hijacked by The Mandalorian. Cad Bane should have been introduced sooner, with more of their history explored. The deaths of the crime bosses should have been by Boba (would have been far more satisfactory, while allowing him to take vengeance). Freetown’s inclusion could have used more setup. Grogu’s decision to go back was made too quickly. There was too much time spent on the flashbacks. The Rancor relationship was underdeveloped. Because Kathleen Kennedy runs lucasfilm provides the tools for film makers to create the stories they want to tell, and running a major entertainment company.

Notice how John acknowledges eu and legends content in almost every interview he’s done (unlike Kennedy)
Even in 2022 Kennedy is still doing interviews claiming that they don’t have source material. I have no hope for Star Wars as long as her name is in the credits.
He acknowledges it because he wants to take it, water it down and use it and then get fawned over by fans. But that is still preferable to what Filoni does.

I can’t wait for a world to build that is all new. No disrespect to George Lucas. Dave and Jon are the only creators right now that are worth of making Star Wars, they are the only hope we have left of Star Wars returning to the greatness George set up.
As long as Darth Theforceisfemale remains in charge, "Oblivion".
Dave: "Star Wars is something that should ultimately make people feel happy....it should make you feel good."
Rian Johnson: "Hold my green milk...."
"Ultimately" is not the middle of a trilogy. Empire Strikes Back didn't give people hope either, quite the opposite. But RotJ did, and that's where TROS fucked up imo
@@JainaSoloB312 Should never have had 3 different directors for a trilogy.

These two men get it.
They see the essence that made Star Wars so great since RotJ. It's a blending of art meeting fan service. But more than that, it's about hope. It's always been about hope.
And they see that.
So I say, the executives like Kennedy need to just shut up, let Filoni & Favreau do whatever they want, and they can reap the benefits.
We get our story back, and the greedy executives get their money piles.
Win-win.
Star Wars was never about fan service. You are part of the fucking problem and the downturn in quality in Star Wars. They are feeding the dumbest fans.
George Lucas and the EU was always about creating a great story, and then making that story fun and exciting and Lucas NEVER SHYED AWAY from flipping the fans off no matter what they wanted...Han shot first my ass according to Lucas, Had shot back and that is that too bad bitch...and he has done that over and over and his biggest fuck you to fans was taking all that hate towards Jar Jar and making it so Jar Jar is the one that hands big pappa Palpy all the power.
Star Trek is about hope. Star Wars is about droids, magic, and cool pyuu pyuus. But yes, they are infinitely better than the execs.
Master and apprentice 🙏
Oh wow I’m reading that now, great idea.
No. Master and Padawan🙏
Yeah, Filoni will always stay a padawan. He's just not good. No creative talent. He could be a good gate keeper for star wars, but he s not a creator. And not a good director. Star wars is dead. Nobody is talented enough to save it and nobody has the power to get rid of KK also.
Besides Lucas, I don't think anyone cares as much and is as passionate about than these guys about the Star Wars galaxy.
Filoni:
"Jon, stop it. Kathleen is gonna be pissed if you mention George again"
Yeah I caught that too. Seems like they don't have the sequels hard in their minds like the OG six.
Dave likes the sequels he praises rian Johnson. It’s pretty clear that the mandalorian is setting up snoke. I mean Jon already said that it’s gonna lead up to the rise of the first order.
It’s closer in the timeline to RotJ than TFA. If it were a few years before Episode 7, then they’d probably be saying “before The Force Awakens.”

Boba had no street smarts to the point where he kinda came off as a blubbering idiot at times. The aesthetic of the mod biker gang did not match Tatooine.
I feel like the show is a prime example of great ideas executed poorly.
@@TheRivrPrncess Let's see the protagonist ridiculed even in his underwear and being overshadowed in 2 consecutive episodes, that the actor did not like his scripts, put in fan service and cameos that do not develop the main story and integrate moments with little meaning and more.
