    I met Ben once in Tennessee. Deeply troubled guy, a f*cking warrior, no doubt, he got done wrong somewhere along the way. I never got the full breakdown. But he had that look in his eyes that told me that he left something wherever it was that he got wronged. Crazy shit man.

    My father was in Patton’s 3rd army, he never talked about WW2 until he was in his 80s with only a few years left. My son had an assignment to write a paper about veterans. My father finally opened up about what he experienced and carried with him his whole life. The first thing he mentioned was how after arriving in France he mentioned how he saw an American dead in a ditch full of water and how he was grey.. he had some amazing stories and he transformed in my sons eyes. He never glorified his experiences but clearly it had affected him his entire life.

    36:04 America may not be perfect anymore, but it’s our homeland. We are Americans and not anything else. The USA is our only homeland. If we abandon the US, we have no homeland.
    All we can do is strive to make America better, as it once was.

    These guys should know more than anybody else, but humans are remarkably quick to adapt to their surroundings. No one is ready for war from a civilian perspective, unless you are born into it, but those that are born into it are such a small fraction of the world’s population that even suggest it is pretty much pointless.

    🤔 FDR said something fitting on February 23, 1942 at a fireside chat:
    "recall some of the things that Nazis and Japanese have said and are still saying about us.
    Ever since this Nation became the arsenal of democracy--ever since enactment of lend-lease- there has been one persistent theme through all Axis propaganda.
    This theme has been that Americans are admittedly rich, that Americans have considerable industrial power- but that Americans are soft and decadent, that they cannot and will not unite and work and fight.
    From Berlin, Rome, and Tokyo we have been described as a Nation of weaklings- "playboys"--who would hire British soldiers, or Russian soldiers, or Chinese soldiers to do our fighting for us.
    Let them repeat that now!
    Let them tell that to General MacArthur and his men.
    Let them tell that to the sailors who today are hitting hard in the far waters of the Pacific.
    Let them tell that to the boys in the Flying Fortresses.
    Let them tell that to the Marines!"
    🤔Seems like the US knows when (and how) to rise to an occation... remember the nation was broken in the 1930s and look what we did in the 1940s.

He grew up in Oklahoma during the dust bowl and had it HARD, he grew up shooting rabbits and squirrels for family dinner on his way home from elementary and his dad told him here’s two shells being at least two rabbits home or one rabbit and an unfired shell or don’t come home at all. If you miss ur getting a beating.
      He said he was one of the few who was willing to pull the trigger. He had so many amazing stories and saw things no man should see or do. When it's a Navyperson, and he says he did things outside ROE that would have "put people in prison for life," he's talking about deliberately targeting noncombatants. This made things much more dangerous for the real warriors on the ground, and should have resulted in the Navy getting kicked out of Iraq.

    (OEF) 2011-2012 VET here , I served with the 1165th MPCO and made it from E1 - E4 Back to Pfc and eventually Spc lol. Truth be told the ROE we have make about as much sense as a bulletproof vest with a money back guarantee. To anyone reading this that thinks differently hear me out with this basic thought experiment. (You) not to offend but you have a field that you are a expert in, like lets say a teacher ,or attorney, or just a law abiding citizen with a average job. Your car engine is making sounds and you notice its smoking etc. You can do basic car stuff but do you really know enough about cars to tell the shop how and what to test? Or another example, You catch a DUI are you going to tell the judge that he is wrong or pay a attorney to handle the talking? My point is if you never been in country, then you really dont kno how you would react. And the last thing you need on your mind is am I going to go to prison because i miss my shot and my round skips off the ground and kills a child etc. If you wanna watch what deployment and the military life is really like. Watch the Tv series (Over There) 100% I will die for what I love, Ima bring my family to the nearest national guard armory and volunteer myself for service if my family can stay there. To those that wont fight beside me I DO NOT WANT YOU TO if you dont wanna fight either help by providing intel or any way you can while protecting your family or get tf out of our way and stop trying complaining about combat if you haven't lived this life you are not the Subject matter expert in my opinion ✌

    0:39 i say this all the time. That's why ptsd is so big. Cause you have to be built for war. Literally has to be in your blood. Im talking combat war. The things you see that regular civilians don't see

    • @GPOLICE
      @GPOLICE 2 дня назад +1

      Id say ptsd is big because 1. The military was ordered to do all the things they believed they were supposed to fight against, and then having to lie to themselves and everyone else about it, how the things they did directly lead to things getting worse not better for America and Americans, being betrayed, fooled
      and 2. the more basic difficulties arent talked about and people walk right into them mentally unprepared. Being away from family is bad and no one will warn you how bad it can be because itll make them sound weak. Getting home and seeing how normal people completely dont give a shit or even worse actively dislike the things youre proud of. Remembering the things you did that lead to bad things happening. Even people who arent in the military can be disappointed by how unappreciative their fellow countrymen are sometimes, like when farmers and truckers were considered evil for that period under pres obama for example.

    • @ericyoungoc
      @ericyoungoc День назад +3

      PTSD exists because in battle there are traumatic things that the troops experience. You can get ptsd from a car accident. Or your wife fucking around on you. Or a heart attack..Trauma can come from almost anywhere.
      I was a Marine 0311. I was in the most forward areas for a couple years over 3 tours to Iraq at the beginning of the GWOT.
      I didn’t get PTSD from shooting bad guys in the fucking face. I got ptsd from watching my friends get killed…. IED’s….. close calls.
      Almost every dude I fought next to was a warrior and wanted to be there, wanted to kill bad guys.

    • @WileyE.Coyote-i7c
      @WileyE.Coyote-i7c 15 часов назад

      I'll add to Eric's comment, as a 12B on the ground in 03/04 in Iraq, no one is built for war...
      War isn't just killing the other guy, it's watching your friends die beside you, in your arms, being a warrior isn't just being a badass, being a warrior is knowing you're potentially going to die and doing it anyway.

    Jason and I had a very similar conversation while sitting in an I-Hop in Midland, TX several years ago.
    The vast majority of Americans don’t have a clue as to what real war is; what it sounds like; smells like; feels like; NO, emphatically NO!
    And I feel so relieved that I’m not the only one who puts family above country. Would I defend my countrythe answer is, “Yes!” But, given the foresight and opportunity, it would be after my family, then after my community, then after my region and then my state. JMHO.

    One thing I don’t quite understand and would appreciate your take (and anyone else’s) take is; why is it that WW2 vets didn’t seem to experience any of these post war issues that Vietnam vets and most of the recent wars vets are suffering from. - I personally know numerous ww2 vets (4 to be exact) who went though enormous war and saw horrible atrocities, suffered like a few ever did, and yet they came back and lived out the rest of their lives in glory and most lived well into their 90’s. - none that I’m aware of divorced or had this huge need for meds or therapy. - this is verifiable for anyone who cares to research it. - why would this be? What do you guys think?

      The short answer to why they have those problems is because they either have to lie to themselves (which makes a person depressed) or alternatively if they admit it to themselves then they have live with unfortunate truth basically all alone which also can drive some people into having those issues.
      The long reason why people never talk about that is because 1. They probably wont admit the problem to themselves because the truth would make their life's work seem counterproductive
      2. Admitting it would be contrary to their belief system (protestantism and subsequent christian sects)
      3. Lets say theyve figured out the problem and lets say theyve mustered up enough courage to admit it to themselves and talk about it publically, they still wouldnt because they arent even allowed to because they could probably be charged with revealing national secrets or something like that, and even if they did, you wouldnt be allowed to hear about it. The headlines are tailored, why would they print anything that hurts themselves? The answer to your question is just something you have to be able to see to be able to see, you probably wouldnt believe it even if yt would allow me to post it which they most certainly do not, trust me, Ive tried

    • @philliplopez1501
      @philliplopez1501 2 дня назад +2

      The simple answer: WW2 vets did, in fact have all the same problems as later veterans.
      They simply didn't talk about it.
      There was far fewer resources such as medications or mental health counseling available. So you are experiencing a change in reporting/treatment.
      As for your personal experience with 4 WW2 vets.. Consider that these men had many years to reintegrate and work through the personal trauma.
      What you saw was 4 success stories. Men who on balance found a reason to work past thier trauma and led successful lives.
      If you want to see the failures you will have to look much deeper. Rates of alcoholism, loss of employment, divorce rates, and suicide. Most of these statistics will not list the cause as War Trauma.
      As to your concern that divorce rates didn't reflect? That is more of a societal issue, with divorce becoming easier to obtain starting in the sixties/seventies. Prior to this, many families simply separated, but we're technically still married. Again, it is not something that will likely be indicated on most records.
      Hope that helps explain a little.
      War takes its toll on everyone.
      Phil

    • @dariodeak
      @dariodeak 2 дня назад

      @@philliplopez1501 so the answer I’m getting so far is that all war causes the same or similar trauma but due to different times and social norms it only appears that WW2 vets were handling their trauma better and with less consequences. It only appears so because the truth was suppressed and kept from the public according to the answers so far. - I’ll go as far as to say that WW2 vets I personally knew (one very closely since it was a family member) did not have any trouble talking about their was experiences. As a matter of fact 3 out of 4 wrote published memoirs. - this is such a small sample I understand but it’s intriguing that we still don’t see or hear of hardly any stories of ptsd from the WW2 vets. While there are many movies, books and shows showing and dealing with those issues from the vets in just about every subsequent war. - there are endless Vietnam and Afghanistan and Iraq and… homeless to this very day. - I don’t remember ever hearing of a single WW2 vet being mentally ill, homeless or else.

    • @philliplopez1501

      @dariodeak To help... Start with looking up the phenomenon of "shell shock". That was the term they used during WW1 and WW2. The prevailing medical wisdom of the time was that it was "temporary".
      For historical perspective try reading up about General Pattons aactions where he accused the men in the hospital recovering from shell shock of cowardice and malingering. As I recall he threatened to have all of them shot. It was such an issue that he was censured for it from his superior (Might have been Ike)
      So yes, you are on the right track. And there is documentation...but it takes a little work to find it.

Cant fix the stupid, but you can live around them, If you can keep your mouth shut that is. Just smile and nod, no need to make the cattle angry at you for revealing their mistakes to them, you know stupid people never appreciate being corrected. The good thing about religion(s) is that they have bits of truth in them, sometimes, and if you want to know the whole truth about everything, you cant get the full picture without examining everything, sometimes you might be surprised where little truths are hiding out at

    We slept in terrible places, spiders, scorpions, etc.... so keep in mind that when you're talking about the "cowboy days" in order for the special operators to get in to do all the cool guy stuff, green berets, big ARMY and Marines are out there beating the ground to create the staging for the operators to be there to go do strikes.
    There was nothing glorious about war, why we were there was based on a lie, and political posturing.
    What is glorious in war, is what we do for one another, and the actual reason 97% of all those serving are there for, and that is in service to our brother to our left and right, and for the foundational establishment of our freedom.

      Theres nothing real about protestantism and its offshoots. That title would lay soley with the orthodox christians or the catholics depending on which side of the schism you fall on. Anything after that is obviously heretical just by the nature of how and when they were created.

    I tell every medic that says, "I can't wait to deploy" to be careful what they wish for.
    Training is too focused on "oh we had 946 casualties and they all made it."
    If you're a medic or in any type of leadership and still in, have some casualties die in training even after the medic or CLS finish their assessment and did everything right. Folks need to learn sometimes shit just doesn't work out.
    How are you/ your joes going to react after you do everything right medically and still have to watch a life you're responsible for just end, if you haven't been put/ put them in that situation during training?
    Also, stop fucking putting chest seals on shirts, and taping NPAs to people's faces. Do them for real or not all.

    How are you even talking about fighting for America again when you cant even admit to yourself what the real problem is, you think theyre holy. Now weve been fully defeated and living under occupation for like 5 years now, the time to fight would of been before 2015. The 2016 to 2020 era was our last chance. America capitulated in 2020. Now even the president who used to run on trying to protect us has fully capitulated. I saw this coming, I wanted to leave by 2011 but still havnt saved up enough to yet. I knew Americans would refuse to admit to themselves what the root of the problem was until it was far too late. I hoped I would be wrong, for your sake, but I was proven right, hardly anyone did anything. Some did, good for them, but it clearly wasnt even close to enough. I am leaving asap, but until I hwve enough money to do so, Im enjoying what little theres left to enjoy in America, theres not much but theres still a few fun things left to do here. Starting a family or doing any meaningful work here is a fools errand though and completely out of the question. Hopefully things change and things turn around before I have enough to leave. I really dont see how thats possible anymore, but Id be pleasantly surprised if you prove me wrong. Dont expect me to help though, another failure at this point would be very costly for everyone involved.

    lol these type always love trying to boost there ego and also somehow know so much about phycology because the fact is that you have more soldiers shutting down during conflict but most edc encounters your fighting for you a lot different than fighting because orders. Also don’t take what these two say as concrete they sound like they are wounded mentally have a great day.

      Ww1 and 2 were culling operations. Ww3 is the mass invasions. Europeans and their descendants have been the victims in all three. Were in the endgame of this chess match, we only have a few pawns left and the king has broken away from us and is on the run.

    FROGMAN!!!!! 🫡❤️ I would fight for our soil unless it was against Russia. My wife is from Russia and after learning their culture and history, I would fight for Russia any day. Still love America, but not over Russia. I believe our country does not give a shit about itself and is in a downward spiral with no pride in itself anymore. I pray that this changes ASAP but I am not betting on it….
