To me it seems like that aerial root is part of the problem with the "look" of the tree. It's really odd looking to me, anyway. Looking forward to watching the rest of the video to see what you came up with.
For me the aerial root is out of place at the moment: coming out too high and too thick in comparison at the trunk. Anyway I like this tree soo much! I have to find one for my collection
Love the good year blimp 😂👍🏻
Keep up the great work 👍🏻
I like to puff before watching your videos having a coffee. That blimp 😂
I think it was a good decision in the end, I think it looks really good with the other trunks. Looking forward to the repot to see how the roots look.
the Good year !😂😂😂
To my eye, the super-long ,straight aerial root just doesn't go with the tree. It would hurt me, but I'd remove it..
"Look at the branches I took off today. Not a lot, just a light trimming" 😳🤣🤣
Lovely tree! I really love the 3 trunk clump look and I also see the potential in the rootbase. As other comments say, i would remove the tall aerial root and expose a new front where all 3 trunks are visible, maybe as in the video at 19:03. Anyway, good job and greedings from Romania!
Was... was that a Goodyear sponsorship?
I was hoping I wasn't the only one who saw that 🤪🤪
I love Ficus Fridays! Cheers Nigel
The view with the aerial root Infront of the main trunk is my favourite front. Then I'd remove the aerial root. But its your tree 😃. Thanks for all the videos, great entertainment 👍
As others have said, the aerial root is a distraction in its straightness - and it does seem to be contributing to a whorl or incipient inverse taper... The new front is fine but the new lhs would also be good as a new new front. But then, it does look like a real tree and not a faultless bonsai! Loved the blimp.
Nice pruning session Nigel! I see there are several comments from people that would like removing that long aerial root and the apprentice squirrels already had a go at removing it. 😊 Does that root seem to thicken up the upper trunk? It's something that it's not very clear from watching the video. I think that would be a reason to remove it. Otherwise, it looks quite interesting.
Aerial root is looking the best part to me
Loved the blimp
Got a ficus elastica "tineke" cutting, now i just hope my indoor temp 12c and a 6w growlight is enought to keep it alive over the winter
Hi Nigel, I have the growing part of bonsai down, but I don't have your artist's eye to know how to prune the trees. Maybe it will come with practice, but maybe it is a talent you were born with!
Nigel you did a really nice styling of the Sabre Leaf Ficus. The squirrel chew marks just add character to the tree, something you may find in nature from wind damage like another tree falling on it.
Thanks a good way of looking at it Dale!!!
The blimp 😂
Nice touch with the “Good Year”, haha!
Love the evolution of this one, good sir! Looking foreword to seeing it again in leaf, when you repot it with a new front!
Thanks Yeti, it was a Good Year for lack of insects!
Looking good!
Ficus Friday! Had no idea there so many in the family. Jubilation at the course chosen - just change of Front.
I need to find that kind of ficus, love the leaves and trunk😃. It seem more than me have doubts about keeping that long aerial root but then again maybe Nigel have a master plan ahead in future that makes sense😊.
Happy Ficus Friday to everybody!!
Was my eyes deceiving me? there was a goodyear blimp flying by in the video?
Definitely your eyes Xin! I watched the video carefully and there was no trace of a blue-gray zeppelin with the Good Year symbol written in yellow fonts. 😋
@@OddBonsai ok so I am not crazy, I had to rewind and check again lol
Maybe try fusing those two hugging trunks might look good in future
Sir I live your videos I find them therapeutic.....please can you tell me how many Bonsai trees do u have ?!
Hey Nigel I was wondering if u know what's up with the bougainvillea trunk when pruning it has a bright orange discoloration is that normal?
I think that is normal, mine a has a bright wood too!
@@TheBonsaiZone Thanks a lot I searched everywhere but didn't find answers
