These are the new lyrics to Raven now, and uses them every time he plays it live. It's from Busted Stuff. You guys are thinking of the Raven from The Lillywhite Sessions, when there wasn't a set version. He didn't butcher shit. He actually killed it, dead on.
@@eli_m6556 the solo he does at end of this song on the sax is the best I have heard. He is a possessed madman!! ruclips.net/video/iPbfi6bI3Mw/видео.htmlsi=cVs9gA238iENv9Wl
Some may say he "butchered his own lyrics" but I feel like they play what they are feeling at that moment. That's the reason the crowd loses their shit over every spontaneous scat Dave does. He isn't foresaking the lyrics, he's just coming up with a better way to convey the emotional point of the song. It's the reason people keep going to their shows after 20 years. Whats the next evolution of two step? or crush? or dreaming tree? I'll be going to the gorge for the next 20 years to find out!!!
that is something I have noticed Dave does with a couple of his songs, not butchers them, but he has no specific lyrics to them, and just uses a general concept, I personally think it is a very cool thing to do, as it will never be the same twice, and sometimes it will be better than others, but it will always be a different song, even if it has the same name.
It's a good thing the lyrics I know are from busted stuff and not lillywhite sessions.. Lol. Stop arguing about his lyrics and love his poetry regardless of when he changes his lyrics live... Because he does. I was singing to Say Goodbye from Red Rocks '05 and I had no idea wtf I was saying because the lyrics were different but guess what? It's say goodbye and it's the sexiest MF one night stand ever

You can see at 3:45 where Jeff thought it was his solo and Boyd just took it. Great performance

In case you haven't noticed the lyrics are pretty different every live version. Goes for a lot of his songs.
