Blood Gases and Gas Exchange | Arterial Blood Gases (Part 2)

- In this second lesson we talk about our blood gases as well as how gas exchange takes place in the lungs and at our tissues. The goal is to provide you with a good understanding of how we go from the gases in the air to the end result of gas exchange at our tissues leading ultimately to metabolism for our bodies.
We start off talking about the changes in concentrations and partial pressures of these gases from the air, down in to the lungs, once in the arterial blood, at the tissues, and in the venous blood after as it heads back to the lungs. We talk about how these partial pressures change and how these changes allow for the gas exchange to take place.
From there we move on to talk about gas exchange and what exactly happens at the level of the alveoli and the tissues that makes this all possible. Finally, we cover how these gases are actually transported around the body in order to allow for this gas exchange to even take place.

Paramedic here about to be put into service in a major hospital and be doing what is called RT extender service. So doing a crash, early course in all this as it concerns ventilator operations etc. So my actions will free up an RT for more critical duties or help ICU/ER nurses as needed. Your videos are very well done. Thank you for doing them.
Thank you for the awesome commend Sharyn. Thats a very interesting model that you guys will be doing. We are working to do some team nursing assignments with ICU and PCU/MS nurses with different ratios and roles. Wish you all the best and stay safe!

I assume you are using pascals for units? Just clarifying as differs from UK units:) Fantastic video as always!
Yeah exactly uk uses pascals, he’s using mmHg. I prefer the mmHg.
Great explanations! Who does your graphics? I would like to speak with them about a project. Is it you? David Kalergis, Diffusion Pharmaceuticals.
What graphics are you referring to?
@@ICUAdvantage I'm thinking that your approach to telling a complex scientific story could be useful in creating collateral material to pitch science-based business ideas to venture capitalists.
