I think you're right about the ST2 being the right option, I have the ST3 and I wish it had the blue stitching and detailing in the cabin that the ST2 does. I think mine looks more like the regular Fiesta inside than the 2.
Mega review! Thanks for popping over to show me the ST in the flesh Let's hope that 3 cylinder engine stays reliable for years to come, will miss that cracking 1600 4 cylinder from the Mk7 #TunersParadise
Want to buy one but just not sure about the fuel economy and longevity of the car since i would be using it as a daily driver. Would be my first 'sporty' car, but just looks so fun.
Apparently the weight of the car is nearly the same its just on this model they add 75kg for the driver and 90% fuel dont know the full story tho might take mine to the weigh bridge to see
good review, seems to be an honest and comparative review between the mk7 and mk8. Can you please test a drag and rolling race between a mk7 ST200 and the mk8 ST? id love to see a real world race comparison.
Hey Stefan, thanks for watching. As it happens, a Mk7 v. Mk8 video is coming, so be sure to look out for that. In regards to a drag race, that would be nigh on impossible to me to organise 😂Just getting those two cars in the same place at the same time is one thing, and I wouldn't even know where to begin in regards to finding somewhere long enough (and legal) to even do the drag race!
Yeah I'm looking forward to that as well! Who knows I may be able to drive the new RS as well (if there will be one of course). Thanks for watching Steve.
Huge Dilemma.. Fiesta ST vs Polo GTI (now available with manual gearbox from 1.9.2018). I have now BMW 3 F31 auto gearbox, and want to change it to FUN car, but still practical enough to take 2 kids to school and to drive to work with it. Price is about the same, Polo like 10% cheaper, 2.0 tsi capable engine, might keep value longer, great interior with lovely display, on the other hand Fiesta with even cooler sound, maybe more raw and fun.. more unique and rare, with better sound system and true performance car.. havent driven any, no possibility, just can buy one ;-) any ideas ? thanks! ;-)
Hello Martin, sorry for the slow reply - for some reason this comment was marked as spam. I'll be honest, I've not driven a Polo GTi, but I'd be astounded if it's more fun to drive than the ST. I see it more as a grown up car, more an all-rounder, much like the Golf GTi. I'd recommend testing both, but if you want fun, I would direct you towards your nearest Ford dealership. Thanks for watching.
@@CarObsession thank you for your reply. I am from Slovakia and I can test drive polo or fiesta standard version.. they sold in 3yrs 1 fiesta st.. heh so no test car like that .. I decided to order polo gti in manual, just felt in love with the interior and I trust with manual will have more involvement and fun than now and on a bumpy roads here maybe a better comfort..
@@CarObsession Hmm, probably the 205 GTi. Also there was a Renault hot hatch that was like a lunatic roller skate that the boy racers used to love in the early days of hot hatches...
Oh no of course, it goes without saying that those cars are simply legends, but I talking about the king of the current crop of hot hatches. As good as this car is, I wouldn't say it's king of ALL the small hot hatches that have ever been made.
Car Obsession ...Are you serious? Other (far more premium) brands aside; Where’s the logic in claiming the Fiesta ST is, in any way, a match for the Focus RS?
Scientific studies in 2013 found that Oreos are more addictive than cocaine - no, really (www.huffingtonpost.co.uk/entry/oreos-more-addictive-than-cocaine_n_4118194?guccounter=1&guce_referrer_us=aHR0cHM6Ly93d3cuZ29vZ2xlLmNvLnVrLw&guce_referrer_cs=-1EAowLam3o8mixU2RpK8w) . To be honest, I dunno what Oreos they were having as I've never found them that addictive... Thanks for watching pal!
Hey Robin, thanks for watching. I've driven the Clio RS and the 208 GTi, and I'd say the Fiesta ST is definitely better. The Clio RS only comes in an auto, which is disappointing, especially as it's not an overly great gearbox if you ask me. The 208 GTi is a decent car, but it's not as focused or as poised to drive as the Fiesta ST. It's a comfortable car with a pleasant interior, plus it's more comfortable, but it's simply not as thrilling to drive, plus you have that odd driving position, which will be awkward for some. I've not driven the DS3 Performance (I was hoping to test it in October, but that fell through), but I can't imagine being a better car to drive than the ST. If it was, you'd see more of them about - it's rare that you see a DS3 Performance on the road. In fact, I've only even seen one once, and that was at a car show on a DS3 owner's stand. It also commands a higher asking price, so that's worth bearing in mind.
Well I can see where you're coming from, but they both have the same 0-62 time, and the 208 GTi's top speed is only marginally faster. I'll be honest, I've not driven the BPS model, but I'd still rather have the Ford. Also, I may be mistaken, but the BPS doesn't have an LSD does it? I know the one on the ST is optional, but at least you have the choice of having one. The 208 GTi is due to be updated soon (3 door model is being dropped) so it'll be interesting to see what Peugeot do with it.
How can you still recommend Ford with all the ecoboost failures and safety issues with them? Not to mention the piss poor customer service and lies that Ford tell their customers??
@@CarObsession yeah I understand you have to give an unbiased review, but Ford motor company don't give a damn about there customers. I've had many fords but have been on the receiving end of there lies to avoid a warranty claim. Keep up the good work though I enjoy your reviews 👍
Thanks buddy, appreciate that. Obviously I can't say too much on the matter, but I have come across quite a few disgruntled owners on forums, so I hope Ford can address these issues and improve things moving forward. Ford make some cracking cars, and in doing so, has created a very loyal fanbase, so it would be a shame to tarnish it with continued engine problems.
Never had problems with fords over my lifetime. This and the last ST have been excellent and Ford backup and service excellent. I suppose it depends which dealer you use, due to the nature of my travels I have used 3 different dealers to service my ST’s and all have been excellent. As for the current model. Wow, a fun drive.
Hi there, thanks for watching. The new model has got bespoke front knuckles, plus it has a Ford patented Force Vectoring System. Ford states that this able to make the rear end stiffer to give better cornering without compromising comfort, and from where I was sitting, they are right. It's still firm of course (it's a hot hatch after all), but it's definitely more comfortable than its predecessor.
Just a small bit of housekeeping; I may have quoted 179bhp for the old ST when it should have been 180bhp (apologies).
I love the Fiesta ST
In Australia we get the ST3 with performance pack and sound system as standard.
It's alright for some! Thanks for watching.

I don’t like these as much as the older models I think they got it right with the older model. Great review as usual
That's a fair enough opinion, I can see where you're coming from. I recommend you have a drive in the new one if possible. Thanks for watching!

I heard if you change gear when the shift lights flash on, that’s when you can flat shift? I got told that’s what they were for lol
I'm pretty sure you can do that in the Focus ST, not sure about the Fiesta, though. Thanks for watching 👍🏽.
Great review
Thank you very much 😀. Thanks for watching.

does this car have the LED lights as standard if its the St-3?
Hi Daniel, thanks for replying. No, the LED lights are a £600 option.
How much is the road tax?
Hi Andrew, thanks for watching. Road tax for the first year is £210, and then it's £145 for each year after that.
They well made vid

Hi Sunaj, thanks for watching. This is a test car, not my own,.

What would you say that is the small hot hatch king then, if this isn't it? I'd also ask you the same question for the Mk7. Thanks for watching.
