- The search party hunting for British teenager Jay Slater, who went missing during a holiday in Tenerife, has focused its efforts on a ravine near to where he was last heard from.
Search and rescue personnel carefully combed through dead palm trees covering a river at the bottom of the hillside near to a property he had reportedly been driven to.
Mr Slater, from Oswaldtwistle, Lancashire, disappeared following an attempt to walk back to his accommodation after missing a bus.
He had attended the NRG music festival on the island with two friends before his disappearance.

Very suspicious! The mother says she’s getting disturbing phone calls, even from kidnappers but how would they know her phone number? This lad is by no means an angel and should have been in prison for the serious attack on another lad not flying out to Tenerife for a 3 day drunken rave!

I am watching this from Canada and it baffles me that some British people actually expect the British police to go to Spain and look for this young man. Spain is a sovereign country. No disrespect but the British do not run the world. Would you accept it if the Spanish police went to the UK to look for a missing Spanish citizen? Especially since the UK has left the European Union. How odd!
I hope they find him soon and bring peace to his friends and family.

@Joe-rd2pu because it's highly fucking relevant when people are donating money to a go fund me and don't realise what he's done. Locals who know the family or mum may sympathise with her and I completely get that. Those with no attachment other than (I have a son, daughter) will now be highly conflicted to wanting to donate. Or even to know his outcome now, christ mate, scroll through the comments. Let's not play dumb.
To go deeper into it, my first time hearing about him and looking him up, on the same (daily star?) Page was a link below. And I thought wtf that guy pictured there with a header about splitting a man's head open with a machete is jay slater, not in the missing story but just appearing in the most viewed.
I just think it's now had a massively bad effect on public sympathies. Corrie stars posting things his mum stating he's a lovely caring lad, and you know what he may well be that, I don't know him at all so I have no idea. Was he wielding a weapon or just a mug who tagged along. Idk, but due to it strangely having no mention, it's slowly day by day having a MASSIVE negative reaction in what I and I imagine you are reading.
Just my thoughts anyway.

So did Jay leave at 5 a.m., with the two men, and leave the apartment that same morning by 8 a.m.? He couldn't have slept all night, and had to be tired and possibly drunk.

As an experienced hill-walker in Scotland, hiking long-distance footpaths and the Munros, you have to be really careful about trying to take shortcuts across the mountains or endeavouring to walk routes as the crow flies. You’ll end up struggling down shear drops and into ravines where it’s extremely hazardous and so easy to become lost and disoriented; a total nightmare, especially if you don’t have the right clothing, footwear, sufficient water, food or a shelter. I do fear for the poor lad, it’s not looking good.

Yes your right. In Scotland it's a little easier as there are no bushes and shrub. In fact in that terrain on Tenerife, if you have no experience and you don't stick to the path you could quite easily walk of a cliff edge. Adding drunkenness, dehydration and lack of sleep, it would be a very dangerous place to take a walk.

A local said they saw him walking in the wrong direction from the bus stop. Maybe if he was tired & hungover he forgot they drive on the right in Spain, and he started walking in the direction the bus would have gone if they drove on the left.

Yep, it’s very odd not to offer him some help. Especially as she would have known he was a visitor and not familiar with the area. A few news reports say the woman lives above the building where he stayed the night and that she runs a cafe there, so she seems to be real, but yeah, you never know?

None of it adds up. His pinged location Lucy showed, is about an hours walk from the house. Timing is off. The bus stop was immediately outside the front door.. she stated she called 911 to report him missing. Thats America, not here. Not something you’d forget quickly if you’d constantly been calling like she said. Police certainly wouldn’t have said they’d send a helicopter at the first phone call that’s just ludicrous.
A go fund me account set up for 30k? A specific amount for an extended stay in a cheap hotel I’d say. How long do they expect to be here?

Unfortunately if he is out there, I think it’s a recovery at this point not a rescue. There’s lots of prickly pear he could eat, yet I don’t think he’d know that. Sad state of affairs. Someone did spot him; that female at the bus stop. Jay possibly decided to walk. What was he doing with these two men? The vfc timeline appears strange. He left with these two men at 5 a.m., or is this misinformation? Jay shouldn't deviate from the main road at all. He had to become disoriented and perhaps fell over into that terrain. I think it was irresponsible of those two men to not see Jay safely back where they picked him up.

Jay was impatient to wait for the bus, so why would he wait for a restaurant to open? Jay should have waited for the bus, and if he decided to walk, wished he'd stay on the main road. You can't get lost if you were on the main road, and stay off the trails. It's unfortunate because we really don't know what happened. I don't like the replies those two men gave police; he was going to get cigarettes and catch a bus. They should have been offering the young man a ride back to where they lured him away.

Satellite tracking works even if the phone has zero phone mast reception . Last year I was travelling on the Nullarbor Plain in South Australia, miles from a phone mast , no 4G connection for the last 500 kilometres , but Google maps showed where I was to within 8 metres , ie whick side of the road I'd pulled uo to rest at !
