Ghost Hunting In A Ghost Town (Cerro Gordo)

- Опубликовано: 29 окт 2020
- Halloween Special! I hope you enjoy this dive into the history of paranormal at Cerro Gordo!
Cerro Gordo was one of the deadliest towns in the American West. At it's peak, the town had a reported murder per week. A local judge described the residents of the town as:
"lawless ruffians who with murder in their hearts and the implements of death strapped upon their persons, congregate in public places, ever ready to discharge their death-dealing weapons upon the unoffending and unarmed citizens."
Because of all the death, the town has a rich history in paranormal activity. In this video I tell the story of the famous 'ghosts' of Cerro Gordo, and try to find them.
If you own a ghost town with reported paranormal activity, you have to go hunting for ghosts at least once.

I’m a ghost tour guide and my favorite thing about ghost tours is that they’re an amazing way to sneak a bunch of history lessons in to people who would not have sought it out otherwise.
I’ve always said ghost tours are just edgy history lessons and cerro gordo is perfect for something like that!
Old mining legends tell of an apparition popping up all throughout the country; they all describe the same thing... a red haired man running through the tunnels. Several accounts also say that they can hear the spirit chanting something while sprinting down the dark maze of the mines... “Levi’s... Levi’s... Levi’s...”
😂😂😂😂 Heard that one before, but i dont believe it...
Lol that was a good one
Wheeze😂
He’s looking for someone named Levi and another person named Jean
The funny thing is that actually in Italy there's a story about a salt miner "rosso malpelo" by verga written in the second half of the 1800
And the story finishes with him disappearing in a mine falling on him
Not sure what’d be scarier, seeing a ghost or an actual person there
An actual person i would be freaked out
An actual person by far
an actual person, because the dead can't hurt you but the living can
An actual person for sure
Great comment.

Brent, you mentioning the chains from the dead miners gave me chills. I recently camped near an abandoned mine. This place is amazing and drive up through mountains to get to the city is breathtaking. Hope to visit this place very soon again! Greetings from Poland!

Lmaooooooooo accurate
I have a feeling that living people have the same effect on ghosts in purgatory or wherever ghosts live in as how ghosts scare living people.
there was a funny phasmaphobia sketch made around this idea

I've been watching the channel for some months now and had to go back to the beginning and see where it all started. I've been binge watching these for the last couple days up to this video. I'm now absolutely engrossed with everything about Cerro Gordo and Brent's devotion to this place. To live vicariously through him is an understatement. What a humble, charismatic, and passionate man.
I bet LockPickingLawyer broke into the bunkhouse. He's just demonstrating how unsecure your padlock is.
As you can see here, this man has relied largely upon his isolation to protect himself from intruders. He has also courteously used an A2050 MasterLock to secure the barracks. Unfortunately for him, this particular model has an egregious defect. If I use a simple steel shim, I can slip the unprotected latch. . .
. . . like this. *click*
As you can see, folks, the shackle is now out and freely rotating.
Let's try that again. . .
*closes shut with a click, shims open again*
As you can see, this place is not very well protected.
Now, let's see if we can give the proprietor a little scare. . .
Love it

This channel is incredible to watch because of how genuine it is. It seems like Brent actually cares to read the comments and feedback received on his videos. I noticed someone on RUclips mentioned using the broken glass bottles as a mosaic for the new hotel and then an episode later Brent mentioned it as a plan for the new hotel bar backdrop. The two videos prior to this had folks comment this idea of a spookier video revolving around the ghost stories of the town and Brent ends up making it. This is a special situation where so many great ideas will be poured into the RUclips comments and it will serve as beneficial collaboration.
Man all I can say is that after watching these videos and seeing Brent doing this all with a genuine heart, I want to visit Cerro Gordo!

Real live people are scarier and more dangerous.
When he mentioned his first ghost story I was surprised when he didn't mention turning that place upside down. If he saw people, then there probably are...people.
Agreed. Like if you're there alone and some thug decides to do stuff to you, who's gonna know? Sorta surprised he doesn't have a friend up there with him.
People play Bloody Mary in their bathroom in front of the mirror, you play Bloody Alfonse in the mine in front of the noose... To each their Halloween~ 🎃
I’m convinced Brent is one of miners in level 200. Look at him. If Brent put on a 1800s miners gear, you’d think he stepped right out of time. In fact if you look at as many cerro gordo mining pics as you can find, I guarantee you you’ll see a guy in those old photos that’s the spitting image of Brent today. That miners soul has returned to Cerro Gordo & is telling the world his story now. Brent is the reincarnated soul of one of those miners.

Man, thanks for this video. Genuinely creeped me out. Taunting a ghost deep in a mine where a man died on Halloween night, miles from any help. Balls of steel, my friend.
I love hearing and sharing ghost stories.
My brother and I converted a garage into two bedrooms once. Had a few strange things happen while staying in this garage. I use to wake up to an echo of a car horn often. One time I had woken up to something screaming in my face. My brother woke up once and the garage was filled with smoke, he jumped up opened the windows, and the door. He ran outside and looked back expecting smoke to be bellowing out. It was totally clear, he went back inside and all of the smoke was gone. My theory is somebody committed suicide in there with car exhaust. True story.
That’s creepy asf
I had a friend who lived in a house where a guy had killed himself in the basement. They had all kinds of arcade games in one part of the basement, such as pac man, digdug, and a football game. They also had a foosball table down there. In another part of the basement was a bed where his sister slept when she was home from college. I had always heard the basement was haunted because that was where the man had hung himself, but had never experienced anything out of the ordinary despite having been down there alone many times. One particular time when my friend asked me to spend the night at his house, we stayed up until around one or two in the morning talking and just being silly. Well, my friend told me I could sleep in the bed in the basement, and I didn't hesitate because like I said, I had never had any kind of abnormal experiences when I had been there. Anyway, I went down the stairs into the basement and got into the bed. The light turned off and on by a string that hung down from the light fixture over the bed. You pulled the string to turn the light off or on. I turned the light off and went to sleep. At around three o'clock in the morning I was awakened by someone whispering my name into my ear. As I woke up I heard the disembodied voice say my name louder. I jumped up and pulled the string to turn on the light. The light would not come on. I pulled on the string several times very quickly and the light still would not come on. I jumped out of the bed and ran for the stairs, bumping into things the whole way through the basement. I ran up the stairs as fast as my twelve year old legs would carry me, and I heard footsteps on the stairs behind me, as if someone or something was chasing me up the stairs. I made it into the dining room at the top of the stairs and slammed the door. There was a television on the dining table that I turned on and watched television and stared at the door alternately for the rest of the night. As soon as the sun came up I left on my bicycle and went home and never went into that basement alone again! I told my friend about my experience the next day over the phone, and he said he went downstairs and pulled the string and the light came on with no issues for him.

Oh man, I can relate to this so much. I've never believed in paranormal stuff, but a few situations changed me to "maybe, idk". I worked in a haunted house a few years ago, and a few times I had to work on it in non-opening hours, when it was empty. And I experienced sketchy moments three times. One was hearing footsteps right behind me, and later realizing that there wasn't anyone following me. The other two were seeing people walking with the corner of my eyes and after a few secs realizing nobody's there. All three times I was like: "oh, it's just one of my collegues" so I didn't pay any attention to it. Only after I realized that there couldn't have been anyone there, did I get spooked, just like in your experiences. Other people working there experienced similar stuff. Like, not seeing a literal ghost, but seeing something normal, and later realizing there's no way it could have happened.

In a 100 years from now tales will be told of the legend of Brent who wanders the town and mines still searching for the elusive Levies.
Best way to deal with a haunting is to either ignore it. Just except it for being there and eventually it won't bother you. Or have the town cleansed. I would ask a indigenous American tribe to come out and cleans the land and perform a blessing on the land. Or you could do both. You could learn to ignore it and not allow yourself to get freaked out about it and still invite a local tribe to come out and perform a cleansing and blessing. That might be a fun thing for your Independence Day celebration for when you hope to have the American hotel rebuilt and grand opening. What ever you choose good luck with everything out there. also Brent: Hello dead people, I'll call you all by name in the pitch black also let me explore this mine.
Last episode. He says he’s afraid of heights yet he goes down a multi hundred foot shaft in a cage haha 😎
Never said he was not crazy
I'm afraid of heights but I want to jump out of a plane. Really

Introducing; "Fear-less Man"! ! !
Different when you can’t see the drop..
For me, its the quick, soft spoken "alphonse", every few seconds while in the mine 🤣
This was so scary to watch!
When I was a teenager, I stayed in an old, abandoned cemetery by myself overnight for a few nights. At the time, it felt safer than being alone in our inner city. That said, I was only a parking lot away from our local mall. It feels good to face your fears. I became a lot less fearful after that. However, new things to be afraid of came along.....
It felt brave, 40 years later, going Christmas shopping tonight at our local mall with no immune system because of medications, during a pandemic, two weeks after a mass shooting. My favorite part was getting to see the gun-sniffing dog up close. My, the times have changed.
Alphonse might have been scared living in today's world. Poor Alphonse. His choices were probably limited, or he wouldn't have had to live there in that murderous place at that time.
ghost be like : "guys, this guy is like one of the main character on a movie who will beat us up in the end. so let's not mess with him"
My son has spent time in Cerro Gordo. He and his friend were going to spend the night in the bunk house, they had to get out of there. They confirm that the bunkhouse is haunted as “f**k”!!! We believe you!!!
Hey man, I'm a 24 years old brazilian dude almost finishing my college degree. I never felt "wecolme" in Brazil. If you want people to start a comunity in your town, I'm all in. This sounds like a dream, leave the country that I don't feel welcome and help build a Town. Count me in, just say a word and every single penny I've gathered till this day I'll use to go there and help
Why is that?
That's nice or you
@@blankbanshee2520 It's hard to put into words. I never felt I fit in here. There are some aspects of our culture that I enjoy, most of the old ones, focused on family gathering. And I know, I'll miss them but I can't live here just so I won't miss them, I can't let go of things just because of feeling, you know? Not only that but I don't feel like I'll achieve something here, and I don't mean professionally, but inside of me. I'm almost finishing my dentistry degree and before I even started going to college I knew everything I was gonna do and every single penny I'd get I'd save it to leave this place. My objective for the past 5~6 years was to save money, finish college, get some more money working in my area, and leave as soon as possible. And well I don't think only work will give me the "achieve" feeling you know? But just the thought of helping rebuild a town, I can't explain it, just gives me the chill, in a good way.
@@funnyfack9854 Thanks mate!
Count me in !
Him chanting "Looolaaa Looolaaaa." while walking around at night was pretty funny
If you want to add legitimacy to these “ghost sightings,” you should set up an inexpensive motion-detecting camera in the bunkhouse. These cameras will only turn on and record when motion is detected. You will find your culprit then.
Now that spurs my curiosity
I WISH dude. But he already said that ghosts aren't his thing... be dope af tho. Maybe we can convince him one day
Good idea but I think he has to respect them. Not try hunt for them . If u get wat I mean. I don't think they would take it so well. For his safety mentally I don't think he should
That’s like spying on your neighbors lol
@David Blazzee especially spirits that were involved in terrible deaths. Looking for them would be a mistake
For future reference, be aware that mines and caves have naturally occurring, "spooky" sounds, some of which can sound like voices. Water dripping and echoing off different kinds of minerals, wind, animals, even minor tremors in the ground can cause sounds and shake loose minerals and such.
I believe in the paranormal but I would say caves and mines are difficult places to differentiate between natural things and potential paranormals.
Would be interesting to invite Ghost Adventures out to have them use their technology to attempt to get some evidence that way!
Or Shane and Ryan from Buzzfeed Unsolved! :D
Minecraft cave sounds Intensifies 😁
Katherine Pierce 😂😂😂 Yea thats true
Brett, when you said you had the feeling of you shouldn’t be there that shook me a bit. I was in the basement of an abandon concrete factory that blew up years ago and while walking under some stairs into a very dark back corner I had that same feeling and I haven’t been back there since. I too ran...
I just found your channel yesterday, binged most of the day and starting here this morning. Your story is so awesome Honestly! Loving the videos, excited to keep watching them. Also, when you panned the hill behind Lola's it almost looked like there was a person looking down at you.
I was surprised you were able to climb that ladder with these massive balls.
That feeling you described when in the bunk house, that's the feeling of pure danger. Like being watched, only felt it one or two times in my life as well. Really weird feeling...
sithconsole I had it once when I was camping in the woods with my cousin. We used to go out to the woods, make camp somewhere and stay there for a couple of days, like survival stuff. We‘re both very rational people and I‘m not spiritual at all. So we explored a part of that Forrest where there is limestone cliffs. It was a beautiful sunset, but already getting dark among the trees. We got to this cliff with a big dead tree at the edge of the cliff, it was eerily silent. Just as we got there a crow flew away from the tree, making loud „craw craw“ noises as it flew away. It‘s hard to put it into words but something about that place and scene seemed so off it made the hairs on my back stand up. We started walking towards the edge of the forrest which was maybe about 500 yards away. by the end we were both running and when we cought our breath my cousin said he had the same feeling. we were really glad at this point that our camp was way away in another part of the forrest, we circled around the creepy part on our way back. That‘s the one time I had a feeling like this
Some people feel it in supernatural situations, but some supernaturally feel crazy danger. There's a story of people hiking somewhere where one of the serial killers was actively burying a body. He stopped moving as the hikers approached. The killer admitted contemplating murdering them too, and they just sensed danger and got out of there.
this be why you ask for assaistance from a demon.
they know how to deal with em, since they themselfs are worse.
like calling your local mob boss to take care of thugs bothering you,
youll get in depth tho..
This channel is so cool. Thanks for sharing this with us man
I love, love love your videos! I would love to do what you are doing! Thanks so much for sharing these videos! I am living vicariously through your videos and can’t wait for the next ones! I don’t know how you did this video!
Some of these comments are just nasty. He was having fun and doing a Halloween special. I loved the history and ambiance.
Mom come pick me up I’m scared
SO much courage man i could never do that knowing the history and seeing an apparition as well, hats off to you sir.
imagine if he got to the end of the tunnel and there was just a lit candle there.
😭
Imagine he is going back out of the tunnel, just to see that the daylight he thought he was going to is just a lit candle...
Have you ever played a game called Vanishing of Ethan Carter? It has that, kinda, and it's scary AF.
