The Murder of Sonic the Hedgehog is a 2023 point-and-click visual novel video game developed by Sega Social Team and published by Sega for macOS and Windows. The player converses with various Sonic the Hedgehog characters to investigate Sonic's apparent murder on Amy Rose's birthday. Sega released the game as freeware on March 31, 2023, to coincide with April Fools' Day.

It's impressive that Sega has cultivated a culture of gamers that just accepts that "yeah this makes sense as a Sonic game" and it's not even a fan game.
I mean, it doesn't really conflict with canon, I'd argue we should let it into the timeline

Other than the art which was made by a as far as I know rare contributor to the comic was almost everything else done by other people that usually don't work on the comics under the guidance of the Western Social media branch of Sonic.

@@manologamerss5801 The kid should count his blessings. In the 2000s, Sega kept leaving Tails out of games entirely and giving the sidekick role to random OCs.
I've always loved Tails being the straight-laced soft kid that's surrounded by idiots, but him being exasperated with Kevin's decisions, especially with the insistence on the slot machines, really got me laughing, wanting Kevin to keep annoying him.
I remember seeing the trailer minutes after it came out and I thought it as an obvious april fools joke, but honestly I did not expect a whole game to go with it. Played it the same night.

The consistent pronunciation of "Rouge" as "Rogue" is the funniest thing ever, if only because it ups the "Person with violent names" count for the purposes of confusion
It looks like Rogue. I didn't know. Brains often swap extremely similar words like that so I did the same thing, because Rogue is a more common word anyway.

I binge watched the sims series, but then had a dream that I was locked in Jim Pickens basement with like 10 other people and forced to paint. We tried to rebel but he would set fire to the basement if we did. It was terrifying.
None of my friends watch Kevin so I couldn't share this nightmare with anyone else 😭

I beat the game before I watched this video and I've never played a sonic game in my life, nor seen the movies. I just thought it looked funny, and it was free. I did get most of it easily enough, but I was equally as confused as Kevin with the lore stuff. And I was so bad at the mini game I ended up turning on assist mode

I always knew that Robotnik's machines were somehow powered by small animals, but I never guessed it was by having them run on a gerbil wheel. That's pretty impressive that it produces enough energy to operate a train.

... That last stretch, I lost so much that it was nearly midnight by the time I finished it.
Worth it! Love how different people can play the same game as you and increase the entertainment value.
Also I did the exact same thing with the casino machine. I did an excess of 30+ plays on the slot machine after Tails gave up hope on me.
Unironically one of the most enjoyable Sonic game in a long time. Sega won April Fool this year.

I thought he became a zombie but I had a gut feeling that, Sega wouldn't be bold enough to kill off sonic for a spin off. Same like Nintendo wouldn't kill off Mario. And the set up further proved my point. It was kinda "staged" and make believe.
