    Not wise to go into boxing when we're young many of us cant see that. Life is hard enough with out brain damage

    • @satyRo-tu1wl

      I got this reply once when I asked a boxer if he wasn't afraid of brain damage; something in the lines of, 'I'm more afraid of not pursuing greatness'
      Live life in a safe little bubble or take life head on. Get on the dangerous rollercoaster and experience the thrill or sit back and hide under you little warm blanket

    • @Vincent.Wilson
      @Vincent.Wilson 10 месяцев назад

      That's the problem right there. Promoters, managers and even coaches prioritise developing high level efficiency in smacking opposition by starting at a very young age, over developing accumulative damage to the central control system that the young person needs to think, feel and move. The priorities are backwards.

    • @Vincent.Wilson
      @Vincent.Wilson 10 месяцев назад +1

      @@satyRo-tu1wlI agree, so long as the teenagers and even children are thoroughly educated on the risk before deciding if they would like to pursue it. The issue is, most young fighters decide on fighting based on the adrenaline, the respect, the confidence etc, yet with little to no education on brain damage risk and while believing the brain can heal itself in a similar manner to the rest of the body, which just isn't the case.

      Very true, I remember having full bore sparring matches when I was under 12. Looking back a lot of those sparring sessions should have been stopped or never happened! Things are better now but kids still get hurt and damaged too early in life.

      As a kid it upset me greatly, as an adult I'm kinda glad. I still love to do kickboxing, sparring my bag, enjoying the sport, but I already have enough pain and health issues I don't need to risk it with an actual fight.

    The problem with boxing is that it is run by promoters and not a central boxing organisation that overseas matchmaking and acts in the interests of the fighters. Promoters are business men who look to protect their investments by often matching them against weaker opposition resulting in one sided beatdowns.

      The problem is boxing gyms are notorious for saying that and then all the "sparring sessions" are essentially smokers or gym wars. I actually stopped because of that. I probably received more damage just training than the fights themselves.

    What about soccer players taking balls to the head for 30 odd years? Watch the goal keeper kick the ball, it goes flying through the air usually over half way and the soccer player jumps 10 feet up into the air and takes the ball on the head.

      Bigger more padded gloves make it worse. Being KO'ed right away as in bare knuckle or UFC has been proven to be far better than being repeatedly punched as in boxing.
