So far, stock experience. I love it. I got mine a couple days ago and both my gf and I are having a blast with it. I have basically only put it down to let it charge.

You have a lot of options when it comes to replacing the stock OS/GUI. Fortunately you don't have to settle on one as you can flash multiple micro SD cards with a different OS/GUI on each. Batocera is sexy and the stock firmware isn't that bad but I went with muOS because it comes bundled with Portmaster. If you can source the right files, Portmaster can run GTA 3 and GTA :Vice City. Mostly yes. Most roms on these devices will work in most emulators. Main exception being some of the cd based systems. They sometimes require a specific format. Pretty much any that runs in retroarch will be pretty much interchangeable (provided you have the right core)

@spike459H oh yeah. All of these retro emulators ship with really cheap cards that are known for failing. I like the Samsung Evo cards. They're not super expensive and reliable.

You might be happier with a non-handheld, like a raspberry pi 4 or 400, or a N100 mini pc, running batocera. It'll work better for docked-mode-only type use. I've been having a great time with a rpi400.
Yup. I played a bit of Conker's Bad Fur Day, Banko-Kazooie, and a bit of Perfect Dark. I ran into some glitches with Conker's, but I think that might just be the quality of the file. 😬
I only own powkiddy's V90 (black model) and the OG RG350 which I bought first, bought it 3 hours before the RG350M was announced, not gonna lie I was a tad annoyed, though i did wait months and months before buying the RG350 and the release of these devices was not nearly as prolific as it is now. I really loved the release of the RG350P and the RG35XX looks like a direct successor to the RG350P as I'm considering getting it as a replacement for my RG350 as the only issue i really had with the RG350 was it's internal SD card slot... made me not even screw the back on for months and months. but it was great for PS1 and the 512GB sd card that holds them.
I don't have mine on me, so it may not be exactly like this but: 1. Go to Settings Cog, which is the furthest option to the right. 2. Go to the fifth selection from the top. 3. Go to the setting that says English. Did that work?

I feel like once the custom OS devs catch up, this little handheld will mature and be great. That being said, someone in the comments mentioned turning off Frame Skipping in the PSP emulator and it did fix most of the issues I had on it.
it can definitely do tekken 3 and soul blade on ps1. (the 35xx could and this is more powerful) this can probably soul calibur do on dreamcast as well.
@@baldlyrudy some of the ones my r36s struggles with, to see if I should upgrade. Excite bike 64, smash bros, and racing games like the rush series. Killer instinct 64. Thanks for the reply!
@gabgab7544 using the Rice plugin gets most games running at almost perfect speeds, but not all. Cruisin' USA definitely had a hard time, but Smash ran pretty well. Excite Bike gave me some frame drops, but nothing crazy.
@@baldlyrudy yeah that's about my experience with the r36s, except a arkOS update made the standalone rice emulator not even boot up anymore. Thanks for your time.
My bit boy pocket Go was 40$ in 2019 and plays many PS1 games. Frankly, I don't want another emulation device that can't handle Ps2 games flawlessly. 70$ for something that isn't even as powerful as the phones we put in our pockets is extremely niche.
PS One emulation on the BitBoy Pocket Go isn't great AFAIK. It also has a smaller screen and lower resolution. So yeah, it's cheaper and also a worse overall experience. You get what you pay for, I guess. The same goes for your point on phones. $70 retro handheld vs $700 phone. It's like comparing a GameBoy to a Steam Deck.
Gotta say having a dedicated setup with physically tactile buttons is much more enjoyable than tapping a screen. I agree somewhat with what you are saying, in that there is a lot of overlap in what these handhelds do but even the Odin 2 ($300) doesn't play ps2 games flawlessly. Really to do that you need a ps2 console since the emulation is so poorly optimized.
The worst thing about it is the cheap sd cards get corrupted almost immediately. Get a name brand sd card right away and you'll be golden. Mine bricked in less than a week. Haven't had an issue since I've been running Sandisk sd cards in it.
setting it up is half the fun, I have 2 of these retro handhelds so far (3rd on the way) with a custom OS and 1000's of roms set up with box art and everything. and I always play the same 12 games XD
PWM, that's pulse width modulation or something right? didn't even know that was a thing for screens. so it's like flickering some people are sensitive to or something?
A half decent spec'd phone can blow this out the water. I have a note 10 plus that runs up to PS2 pefectly fine. And it's my phone.. so I just bring a controller (not required but makes play much better) and I'm good.
For sure. You can definitely go far with a decent phone. You're not the target audience for this handheld. Also, a Galaxy Note 10 is basically three times the price of this handheld. You're comparing a Mercedes to a Toyota Corolla. 🤷♂️
a little game boy like device and a dedicated OS are so much nicer than a phone with a controller though. also a decent controller costs about as much as this whole device XD ofcourse it's not needed if you just want to play the games but all the creature comforts of these devices with a custom OS are just too nice not to mess with IMO. (already have 2 and just ordered this one as well XD)

The sticks feel great. I know you are f##### with us. Those are Switche's sticks. The are literally the worst kind of thumb sticks ever created for a gaming HH.
don't think there are any devices in this size/price range that have better sticks though. like you'd have to go up to a RG556, Odin or retroid pocket 4 or something I think. and they're quite a lot bigger and more expensive
If a handheld can't play PS2 or PS3 equivalent it's not worth it my opinion the grandad games are just a bonus you can download any older emulator on a phone and use a controller

@spike459H oh yeah. All of these retro emulators ship with really cheap cards that are known for failing. I like the Samsung Evo cards. They're not super expensive and reliable.
@@baldlyrudy Ok well maybe when i get it ill flash everything over to a new card, thanks alot!
@spike459H you're welcome!
Just ordered one with batocera and fully loaded! I'm not expecting psp to work. As long as ps1 and everything below is flawless thats all good! I bought it knowing its limitations. If I wanted more I'd have spent more!
Can't wait for it to arrive!
PSP works pretty well with Frame Skipping turned off. Another comment mentioned it and it did the trick. Congrats on the buy!
Where did you order from?
@@malverdetx8582... eBay UK.
I'm curious as well @@malverdetx8582
I’m not really big modds I have a 3ds modded because it’s easy does this handheld come with prestock games where I won’t have to do much to start playing?
Yup. The Stock OS comes with games.
Ive been wanting a good throw and go handheld, and this seems to be it.
Heck yeah man! It's a heck of a good handheld.
So I purchased this 35XXH and it literally bricked on me the first time I powered it on and off It will not get past the load screen what is the deal
Have you tried flashing the system files to a better microSD card? I ran into the same problem when I got my R36S. I needed to get a new card with the OS flashed on there in order for things to work.
You can find the official firmware here: win.anbernic.com/download/
Fudge, i just ordered the plus and i didnt see this model
😬😅
Is there any handheld that can run up to ps2?
Not in this price range. For that you'd be looking at something around $200-$400, depending on the brand.
i want wifi in a handheld... why? because
i want to connect a bt controller to a handheld... why? because
i want to connect a handheld to a tv... why? ... because
You might be happier with a non-handheld, like a raspberry pi 4 or 400, or a N100 mini pc, running batocera. It'll work better for docked-mode-only type use. I've been having a great time with a rpi400.
@@ToyKeeper reading and understanding is not a given ^^
You try any N64 besides star fox and Mario 64 since the review? I really want handheld N64. lol.
Yup. I played a bit of Conker's Bad Fur Day, Banko-Kazooie, and a bit of Perfect Dark. I ran into some glitches with Conker's, but I think that might just be the quality of the file. 😬
wait... your fast charger via usb c didnt blow the 35XX H????
Nope. The GaN tech worked well at limiting the pull that the RG35XXH had.
They seem to release a new device every 72-84hrs, so it is frustrating!
You missed MuOS, the one I think it's the best CFW for the Plus-H :)
Appreciate the heads up. 🙌
Just received mine but it's in Chinese...... Any ideas how to put to English pls?
I don't have mine on me, so it may not be exactly like this but:
1. Go to Settings Cog, which is the furthest option to the right.
2. Go to the fifth selection from the top.
3. Go to the setting that says English.
Did that work?
@@baldlyrudy yes, yes it did.... Thank you so much....👊
@dachudsta nice! 👊
Looks great
What about size for big hands, during long gaming session?
Maybe the RG556 could be a better option for you. It's a bit larger and more powerful, but it's more expensive.
@@baldlyrudy unfortunately too expensive regarding my budget and my use. So no rg35xxh at all?
@MrFerangui I mean, I like it and it's pretty comfy. Size wise, it's similar to the PS Vita.
@@baldlyrudy you mean the rg35xxH? Wow that's great
@MrFerangui yup. The RG35XX H is about the size of the PS Vita. If that works for you, then you should be good to go.
How it compare to powkiddy rgb30
I'd have to get a Powkiddy RGB30 first. Lol
Thank you for all the information i think i have decided on with one i am going to get again thank you
You're welcome! Hope you enjoy the handheld.
35xxH vs 405m? Better over all?
405m, without a doubt.
What resolution were you playing Dreamcast and N64 games at? 240p or 480p
It's running at 240 in the video. 480 drops performance a bit, but too badly.
Is the weight pretty good on it?
I'd say so.
I have a 100$ galaxy a14 and a 50$ usbc controller, dreamcast ps1 all work perfect, even some ps2 and gamecube games are playable (but not many).
i like how far handheld got these days, after we worked on them back in the day, with porting linux to them :D
It's really gone far.
@@baldlyrudy my old dingoo is still used by my kid xD
@@pmoDK Holy....wow. Lol. Talk about a blase from the past.
New handheld emulation king!
Proceeds to show a RG35XX H
You forgot the "(Under $70)" part.
Are you able to play online games like Pokemmo on this handheld?
If you mean trading or battling with others, then yes. You should be able using Netplay in Retroarch.
@@baldlyrudy awesome thank you! 😊
Stock OS seems to run Dreamcast flawlessly
Why is there 2 usb c ports?
For flexibility probably. One is for power and the other is for transferring files and charging.
@@baldlyrudy awesome I just ordered one of these still waiting for it to come in hoping to see some more videos are you able to connect 2 blu tooth controllers for multiplayer was hoping to be able to pay multiplayer on same n64 and nes games
Dreamcast works much better on stock os than it does on batocera... That's what's keeping me from switching.
This doesn't look like much of an upgrade from my 350p all these years later and still same price tbh tad disappointed tbh
The beard with the clean shaven head, the way you say "button"...
Bro, leave some ladies for the rest of us.
😅
Sad he have those stupid pads on the back, wish we had a curve on boths back side, like the retroid pocket 2s.
Man... I should not have stopped here. Lol I'm trying to save money but I want everything you are showing here... Maybe next month.
really hoping for a sub $100 device that handles psp well. Really want soul calibur/tekken on the go and nintendo wont give me either
Can you save your games?
Yup
Ty @baldyrudy
Has anyone tested it with a lot of n64 games to confirm it can handle everything you throw at it?
What's a game that you'd want to throw at it?
@gabgab7544 you're welcome.
Can we play naruto ultimate ninja impact?
Aliexpress is pretty good on returns as well from what I have ordered so far if it ships with an actual defect they will refund you
yeah I never even had to return anything, just got a refund. though I only had to do that with very cheap items that aren't worth sending back.,,
The worst thing about it is the cheap sd cards get corrupted almost immediately. Get a name brand sd card right away and you'll be golden. Mine bricked in less than a week. Haven't had an issue since I've been running Sandisk sd cards in it.
Can't agree more!
Hi, it's Koriki not Kokiri 😂 otherway great video 👍
Thanks for the heads up. It's too late for me to change things, but I pinned a comment with that. Dang. Can't believe I messed that up.
Mannnn even tough Batocera is great I just want to organize everything with Garlic.
I get that.
I’m glad I still have my psp go. Psp ps1 and gba are all I care about
For sure. All run great on this handheld. Emulation of PSP needed to have frame skipping to be turned off to get a smoother experience.
@@baldlyrudy tempted, I also have a few other options, my laptop also runs ps2 emulation perfectly as well. And I also have my ps vita.
@hymiecamp oh yeah. There are plenty of options out there for this stuff. It's the beauty of emulation.
Received the RG35XX+ this week, I've been downloading thousands of ROMs but haven't started playing them yet lol
setting it up is half the fun, I have 2 of these retro handhelds so far (3rd on the way) with a custom OS and 1000's of roms set up with box art and everything. and I always play the same 12 games XD
For those of us PWM sensitive-the screen is sadly PWM dimmed. Everything else seems solid, so that's a real shame.
a little game boy like device and a dedicated OS are so much nicer than a phone with a controller though. also a decent controller costs about as much as this whole device XD
ofcourse it's not needed if you just want to play the games but all the creature comforts of these devices with a custom OS are just too nice not to mess with IMO. (already have 2 and just ordered this one as well XD)
.... The rg35xx h is poorly throughout and poorly put together and thus a frustrating device to use .... my powkiddy rgb30 is simple easy to use and yet with that said I've owned 3 rgb30 all with issues like the battery of rgb30 #1 stopped charging a month later .... RGB30 #2 was a dud .... RGB30 #3 Stopped playing all sound 2 weeks later and even doing everything they say do the sound would not return .... .
I couldn't disagree more. I think the rg35xxh is perfect.

Gameboyis the king ❤
Gameboy only plays Gameboy games. This does much more. ❤️
Are your buttons flipped? You're pressing "B" to confirm. 🤔🤷🏽
Not sure, but it definitely felt weird. 😅
If a handheld can't play PS2 or PS3 equivalent it's not worth it my opinion the grandad games are just a bonus you can download any older emulator on a phone and use a controller
