Glat to see its an easy thing to do , getting an 91 this weekend that's been sitting ofr 8 years do to a bad starter , ready to get it home and start wrenching
Thanks I'd have had to jump under to try to find where mine was and disconnect it but it helps to see where from top and now don't have to get down in mud to replace.
Hi , where did you find starter for $40.00 ?? Please send link ..my 1993 Ford Ranger starter just went bad and I need to order another . Thanks ..Great Video
I Also Thought He Said He Bought It Off Of Amazon For $40.00 And That Thing Looks Brand Ass New, Not Just A Cheap Ass "Remanufactured" Unit... So, Yes! Please! Give Us The Linky! If You Have One...
I think u made a pretty good video, and seems as if your skillset is about the same as mine,*( I dont know much about cars either, lol) .but after watching your videi,i think I can do this. Thnx.:-) Btw,around 6 minutes or so into the video, what is that " growling sound"? N it's like u purposely stopped everything so we could hear it for like 30 seconds or so..so...what was that.?
all the 3.0L V6s are basically the same from this Era - Aerostars and Rangers... - it's more about the engine and drive train - the easiest being the 3.0L and RWD only... the 4.0L is not the same (harder) as is the AWD or the 4x4 with the front shaft in the way, so you have to remove it, not a huge deal, but - BTW Yes, that wheel with the teeth is called the flywheel - the starter turns that to start the engine - right behind that would be your clutch if you had a Manual or a torque converter if you have an automatic tranny.
So here's my problem. I have a 1993 Ford Ranger and I am able to access the 2 bottom bolts underneath, the top bolt is the one I cannot access, the bolt on top of the starter. My question is twofold. 1) you're working on a 1991, it should be approximately the same right? And 2) do I need to remove the oil filter to access the 3rd top bolt on the starter? If you don't know I still appreciate you taking the time to read my question.
LordRain1031 To be honest, I don’t know if the 91 and 93 are the same, but it doesn’t sound like it because I didn’t have any issue getting to any of the bolts for the starter removal.
@@WHIJ2012 yeah I have a 6 cylinder 3.0 liter engine and it looks as though the top bolt is literally right behind the oil filter. So the way it's looking I may have to remove the oil filter to replace my starter. At any rate thank you for taking the time to reply.

I believe that is when he turned into the Devil.
What was the issue with your tach? I noted it didn't work when you started it.

At 5:54 the sound went out? It's on now..
Is the 1990 xlt ranger starter located in the same place as yours?
Sorry, not sure.
At 5:50 do you have a pet Lion that came around?
lol! I don’t know what happened there.

@@LordRain1031 did you end up removing the oil filter to get access to the bolt?
@@Drkmoon13 no I didn't, thanks😉. The missed the 3rd bolt but found it. Was easier putting it back in lol
Lordrain: what?????
Where is the starter located,i cant find mine.
On the truck he’s working on it’s under the truck next to the oil pan on the passenger side next to where the transmission connects to the motor
oh, It'll start! hook up a 13 HP briggs and straton and send her all the way! she'll turn over.
Huh?
13mm is the size ?
Its called the solenoid...
Don't clean off that way u can line bk up the same way
Flywheel?
I have not replaced that yet and now the clutch is slipping. I think it is time to get rid of the Ranger. 😢
Flywheel turns the motor
Connects too flywheel...
