Varg Vikernes said once in one of his videos that once back in the day he drove with his car to Kolbotn to visit Fenriz and to gave him his latest demo version of Det Some En Gang Var. He literally opened the door with an axe in his hands, and meanwhile between the walking to his car, he said to Varg that he's only cautious despite the rumors he heard about him lately. :)

At first I was like "You leave Fenriz alone!" then I realized that if I were in Norway I would definitely go hang around Kolbotn just to try and meet him (and Deathhammer).

I’m from very close to Kolbotn so it’s absurd to see people walking around there as if there’s something special to see there, hahaha. I have «met» Fenriz a few times when he’s deejayed and been out on the town in Oslo and Kolbotn.
One of those times was at a Deathhammer gig incidentally.

I met him several times in Oslo Hard Rock Cafe "Elm Street" and we had some chats. This was back in the summer of 2000, when Black Metal was dying and starts to get boring. At this time I was listening to Black Metal for about 10 years and there was nothing special or outstanding anymore... It looked like the magic was flown away.
Fenriz was very bored of the whole scene, that's why he did'nt play in any other bands except Darkthrone, and was not interessted into doing some new Isengard stuff as he told me. We booth lose our interesst after all this years and went back to our roots, in my case Maiden, old Metallica aso... But after another 10 years i went back to Black Metal and since than i'm again totally into this music and some selected Death Metal, but in both cases mostly the good old stuff from the 90s 🤘🤘🍻
In 2000 friends and I made a road trip to Norway and Sweden for 4 weeks. We mett some great people and also Black Metal Musicians where we get invited to their homes and so on... a lot of great memories. We wanted to do that back in 1995 , but due to lack of time (and money) it didn't happen. So sad, because it was the best and most interessting time in Scandinavia for black metal fans.

After about 1998-1999 black (and also death) metal went into some crisis. Many bands started experimenting and trying to find something new, others simply disbanded. Some years later the scene regained its popularity. But I do remember being quite disappointed about the whole thing around 2000.
And that's why all the riffs I compose are in the style of the almighty second wave black metal (from 1991 to 1994). These riffs are a bit difficult to be composed, but believe me, when I play them they are literally a holocaust (they sound like a mix of Epic, Finnish, Swedish and Depressive Black Metal). There's everything: aggression, melody, grimness, coldness and the old magic is perfectly preserved. And yes my friend, admittedly the third wave of black metal starts getting really boring and tiring, so it's time to get back to the roots!! Keep the black flame alive, resist against all trends!! 😈🖤🤘

I went to Pere-Lachaise to see Morrison’s grave when I was 15. It’s nothing too special but the graveyard is pretty metal.
