I started a corporate-friendly/law-friendly character (entanglement with the law is super punishing) - I didn't have much money to start with and bought a crazy-cheap ship. Doing Gigs was super helpful to get started - I did gigs for a bit and quickly had 35K to get started.

Big insight on the lights, I was going to do the same thing. Cargopods - you can buy them, from the same vendor. Each has different types, ie radioactive, refrigeration, etc. Would love to see a video on fusion + torch drive. There's zero content out there minus the images on Discord of people's ships.
Not sure if you've talked about this before, but how do you install a floor bin? I looted one but when I try install it the square is red... do you need to remove the floor first?
What Joel said--the biggest benefit to floor bins is that you can walk over them (they don't block access to adjacent tiles). And, of course, you're getting a couple of extra storage tiles. They can also hold walls.
You can hire crew to work on your ship with you. They can be set up to do some simple tasks on their own, and you can assign them like you do your own character (as I recall--I haven't used crew in a while--just a choice more than anything else).
I'm not sure I know what you mean here. Can the game be played through? Yes, there's a tremendous amount of content available that I haven't gotten to yet, myself. Will I do a playthrough? Good question--I don't tend to do that, myself. I like showing how to do things, and I'm not all that good at the play-by-play narrative. But, with milestones being so far apart in Ostranauts (meaning, the things I'd like to demonstrate), I've been considering some videos that are less tutorial, and more about how I've chosen to make things work for me. Yes, you do. I installed one last night. Sadly, you can't put anything over it, though, so maybe just drop a backpack there if you have one
