    Nobody understands when I say jinjer is one of the best metal bands out right now. I've seen them twice and they are amazing. She is in the top 10 best metal vocalists I've ever heard live.

      What are your thoughts on spiritbox?

    • @ericpeterson7512

      @@ashlenamusicpersonally I love Spiritbox. Courtney's voice is gorgeous. She's right there with Tatiana for me. After seeing Jinjer a few days ago, I made the comparison that it felt like I had just seen Whitney Houston, or Gaga, or Cher, or P!nk. It was that level of awesome--and I was in the front row! Iconic! Being that close to Tatiana was like witnessing Elvis or something.
      I haven't seen Spiritbox live yet. But I have a feeling Courtney is on that same level of diva.

      @ashlenamusic I enjoy spiritbox in their own way. Her growls are unique in that you can really hear her voice in them and she flips back and forth on a dime. I'm actually going to see them in Chicago in September. I live in northern Indiana so basically I have to travel everywhere to see any good bands lol

    Welcome back to Jinjer! I'm here for it every time. Your intro to them was much like mine. I saw the Pisces Live Session video, had my mind blown, fell instantly in love with the band. Looked online, and there they were playing in Atlanta two weeks later. It was kismet. Snagged a ticket, went on my own. In 45+ years of concert going, it was one of the handful of best shows I'd ever seen. I dove headfirst down the rabbit hole, off the high dive. Two years later I'm a diehard Jinjer fanatic.
    I've been following their every move since then, like a teenager lol. When it started looking more and more as if the three live dates they had announced for 2024 in America we're gonna be all there are for the year, I bit the bullet and got myself the best birthday present ever. I flew from Alabama to Milwaukee for the 4/23 show, my third Jinjer show, and man was it worth it! Got there early, waited in line, got up against the rail again. Words can't even describe how great it was. Everything about the show was perfect. They'd had 7 months off after years of nearly constant touring, and it was clear they were refreshed, energetic, and having a blast. Tati was as animated as ever, and smiling as much as I'd ever seen. She put on a Perennial-at-Wacken-2019-level performance throughout. Several times she walked right over by me, leaned over the edge of the stage, made eye contact, and seemingly sang right at me from five feet away. It's literally breathtaking, it stops the breath in your throat. The whole band is so fucking amazing, I felt like a little kid again. It was like turning back the clock to 1976, when I saw my first rock concert at age 14, and fell in love with Stevie Nicks. Or seeing Rush for the first time in 1978, front row in a small venue. Or getting onstage with King's X at the Hollywood House of Blues to sing Goldilox with them, right into the microphone, with dUg Pinnick standing two feet from me wearing a shit-eating grin. Those transcendent live musical experiences that give meaning to life. Time just goes away as the music transports us.
    I can't thank Jinjer enough for being who they are, doing what they do. They've given us so many moments of transcendent musical joy. I love them dearly.
    EDIT: I'm a huge Paramore fan too! Hayley Williams rocks! Love her. Also PS Napalm Records is chill, it's Live Nation that blocked your Wacken vids!

    Roman, the guitarist who is usually on the left is always very chill during shows. Eugene, the bassist, tends to be the most animated during shows. Showmanship is not their strength but as you said, their music is a bit more complex. It may also be a cultural thing. Idk. Fun or not so fun-fact, most of the music for the new album is done but Tati has been having trouble finding the inspiration to write lyrics for it. She said she doesn't want to make another war/anti-war song and interestingly enough, I think most of the music the fellas made for it was directly inspired by the war. The dichotomy of that is super interesting to me. Especially considering how poetic Tati's lyrics usually are.

    • @ericpeterson7512
      @ericpeterson7512 9 дней назад

      Showmanship is an odd thing. Certainly I think showmanship is a major strength for Tatiana! For me she's up there with Bruce Dickinson or Steven Tyler. But sometimes showmanship can mean slaying complex and expressive musical compositions with consummate professionalism (just as long as you're not rooted to the floor lol). A good example is Rush. They didn't need to run around all over the stage to be amazing showmen. It's part of what I call live ethic.

    • @ratpwn
      @ratpwn 9 дней назад +1

      @@ericpeterson7512 I agree. I think it's more so the other band members that have received that criticism before. I first saw them in 2019. Small club venue. about 5 other small bands opened for them. Many of them very high energy live performers. My observation for that night in particular was that those bands showmanship/performance came across as more high energy and enthusiastic than Jinjer's. On the flip side, Jinjer's musicianship was in a class above the other bands. I also don't say that as a knock to either band. I just think you play to your strengths. my .02

    Jinjer is my favorite, others I like Vintersea - Illuminated, At the Gloaming Void, Devil's Churn, Unveiling Light, Befallen & The Host. Infected Rain - Orphan Soul, Postmortem Pt.1, Black Gold, Enslaved By a Dream, Because I Let You & Mold. Once Human - Erasure, Sledgehammer, Eye of Chaos, Scar Weaver, Gravity & Dark Matter. Monochromatic Black - Phosphenes ,The Herd, Abaddon, Warmth of the Sun, & Closing the Gates.

      Excellent taste dude! I dig all those bands. Vintersea, Infected Rain, Once Human, Monochromatic Black feature some of my very favorite extreme voices which just happen to be female. All are extremely talented bands with super badass singers.
      After being gateway drugged by Jinjer, I've been on an active hunt for more great female extreme vocalists fronting awesome bands. I've heard a lot. I'm picky. For me Tatiana and Courtney stand out. I wish Alissa would use her beautiful clean voice more. Lena is coming on strong.
      A few of the other bands that have climbed to the top of my playlist: Ankor from Spain--one to watch, their current release gives me Spiritbox vibes, with an upcoming EP of interconnected songs, with the individual chapters dropping one at a time; Future Palace--check out the OMV for "Malphas"; and IKINÄ from Finland, featuring two badass female singer/screamers--the OMV for "Rituaali" is a good place to start, but it's just the tip of the iceberg. They've hit my Top Three bands with their brutal third album and their first two albums loaded with melodic catchy prog metal bangers.

      @ericpeterson7512 I also like alot of female fronted bands, Britta Görtz, former bands Cripper, Critical Mess, now she's with Hiraes. Iris Goessens with Spoil Engine, 2015-2022. Others I know but not my thing Crypta, Synlakross, Entheos, Stellvris, Venom Prison, Vexed, Fallcie. Feelament they are okay Max Morton Produces them & Dmitry Kim is they're drummer. I believe they’re Ukrainian if I’m not mistaken. I liked that other Ukrainian band, The Sixters, you reacted to also. Jinjer surely shows their experience has honed them to near perfection… that said, I think the Sixters are gonna hit it big in there own right very soon. Their arrangements and musicianship are admirable. If you ever get the chance you should check out their song, “Fever.” The video is real good and I think there’s a live version out there somewhere.
