  • Welcome to this month’s edition of “AGS Snapshot,” your source for news impacting geriatrics and the AGS.
This month we were proud to present our webinar, “Practical Solutions Using Telehealth for Older Adults in Community-Based and Outpatient Settings.” Focusing on suggestions and strategies for utilizing telehealth, experts shared their experiences rapidly expanding the use of telemedicine in two major health systems during the COVID-19 pandemic. The session recording is now available on GeriatricsCareOnline.org.
We’re also preparing for our next virtual session stemming from AGS20: the Clinician Scientists Transdisciplinary Aging Research, or Clin-STAR, Paper Session. Join us on Tuesday, September 15th, from 4 to 5pm Eastern, for a presentation on the latest peer-reviewed geriatrics research from four leading researchers in gynecology, nephrology, oncology, and trauma surgery. Visit AmericanGeriatrics.org for registration and more information.
Additionally, we extend our congratulations to Dr. Joseph Ouslander, who will become editor-in-chief of the Journal of the American Geriatrics Society at the end of 2020. Having already served in editorial leadership for JAGS across nearly three decades, Dr. Ouslander now will pilot one of the leading and only academic journals dedicated to the care we all need as we age. Our outgoing editor, Dr. William Applegate, will remain active with the journal, serving as editor emeritus. We’re thankful and #AGSProud for the dedication both Dr. Ouslander and Dr. Applegate have shown for the continued evolution of our journal.
Lastly, as the 2020 general election kicks into high gear, don’t forget the tools and resources we’ve created to help members stay informed and engaged. Visit AmericanGeriatrics.org/Decision2020 for a guide to questions for all candidates up for office, as well as tools for connecting with your local representatives and the presidential nominees.
Don’t forget these updates and additional resources can be found at AmericanGeriatrics.org, where you can access your membership account and make use of all member benefits.
