I'm from Sweden and I choose and pronounce words better than this... "Gripe" vs "grip" shouldn't be difficult to differentiate between when the text is about pliers...
Fair enough, but it's referring to how it grips. Hence Vice Grip, meaning to hold firmly. It used to be a US made.
