The "color" commentary for something like skateboarding is a hoot and a chuckle to hear.

So... This is the first TV broadcast of skateboarding, huh?
    Woah.

As far as I know, it was the first network TV broadcast of a skateboarding competition.
But "Wide World Of Sports" wouldn't cover skateboarding again until the late 1970's.
I seem to recall that "Wide World" covered national or world skateboarding championships just about every year from the late 1970's into the 1990's.
This year (2021), skateboarding became an Olympic sport, which should give the sport a higher profile both in the United States and globally in the future.

I think Patty McGee won the girls competition. She was interviewed on the Mike Douglas Show in 1965.
