Along the way you'll learn about anomalies, artifacts, and horrifying mutants that call the once bustling city of Pripyat home. I hope you remembered to bring lots of screws for throwing!

as a STALKER fan - play something else, mods are all about various degree of pain, most of them either have no translation (the good ones like NLC) or machine translation that gives you headache if you try to read anything.
Solanka and Misery are the most popular, and it's all about PAIN.
Enjoy the Halloween!
I love this sooooo much! Video games & kitty videos!
10:00 You can press "l" for the flashlight.
I mentioned it in my comment but it would be a serious boon to the community to have a guy like you just run down the list of the biggest Stalker mods
*nearly 75% for stalker content*
I love democracy.
whole month of Stalker and its many many mods sound like a interesting contents to cover.....
I one up this
Doubling up the up mates
I second that!
Anomaly mod has become my go to mod.
@@colegmr would say the same about lost alpha dc for me
Stalker actually borrows a lot of slang from roadside picnic, but of course that's apparent when you read it in Russian, in a way its similar how a lot of cyberpunk media borrows slang from Neuromancer
Roadside Picnic is such a damn good book. I gotta watch the movie and play the games, though I fear I won’t like it as much as the book
@@noah5300 the movie and the books are quite similar in atmosphere but yet extremely different from each other
this applies more to the movie tho, but go with an open mind, Stalker is a strange, quiet yet amazing experience. hope you like it, chief :(
It's literally based off of both off of Roadside Picnic and the movie Stalker, they make no secret of this and they wear it on their sleeve
@@otaldovasko Such a fantastic film :’)
@@rustyshackleford1508 yeah, it's "based off of" in the same way that you were based off of a man who got up at 5 in the morning to go to war. all that's left is the cheekbones
Ah yes, S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: the most accurate videogame depiction of eastern Europe to date
the most accurate description
As someone who grew up and lives in Eastern Europe, Stalker hit a little too close to home. I found the environments - which consist mainly of depressing, post-industrial dilapidated ruins - weirdly soothing and cozy. Those concrete, brutalist apartment blocks might seem like oppresive relics of a bygone era at their worst and endearing oddities for people from the West at best, but I have fond memories playing football and hide and seek in their shadow in the post-communist, Wild West of the 90s. I grew up in a neighborhood very similar to Pripyat in terms of architecture, so I found that area more nostalgic than scary tbh. Anyway, I'm rambling. Point is, Stalker managed to capture a vibe that is very hard to put in words if you didn't grow up in the former Estern Bloc
I bought the entire series this year, and I'm having so much fun. My favorite mod to play is Anomaly, polished and pretty average mechanics difficulty, except for the manual repair system.
I hope they make a graphically enhanced version so it looks better
@@RogueBulb Just wait until you enter the sweet world of modding
Ngl, I quickly installed one of those mods which lets you repair items with repair kits regardless of item condition. I don't doubt the repair system is neat, but there's a reason I never got into the more hardcore mods for other STALKER games lol. Fortunately, repair bonuses from items means I'm still weighing the importance of keeping random items. Playing on harder survival difficulties also means that, even with the simplified repair system, I still need to prioritize what to repair and what to spend doing it. Everything still comes at a premium. It's definitely cheating, but I'm pleased to report this particular cheat still has a legitimate meta to it if you're playing on difficulties where things wear out quickly and resources aren't abundant.
@@JackWalters696 I'd recommend Anomaly. It is one of the more "Hardcore" mods but it's so customizable you can turn it from a MISERY like experience into a walk in the park if you really wanted to.
The manual repair system is annoying to use, but it is pretty realistic. The thing that bugs me the most is probably the fact that you need to pay to use the clamp all the time
Ahhh, Stalker. Still the greatest cheeki-breeki gopnik simulator ever, even 14 years later.
Reminder: There are no glitches in S.T.A.L.K.E.R, just the effects of The Zone.
Also; remember to bring spare bandages, diet sausage and, most importantly, vodka. Those psychic attacks are no joke
Can't ever forget the vodka.
"Ахх, чудеснЫй, the Monolith has granted my wish.

Guys it's cool, I'll be doing Anomaly if we have S.T.A.L.K.E.R. month next year. I simply didn't know about it since I don't follow the modding scene too closely since I have a lot of other things I need to keeps tabs on for the channel.
It really expands upon and fixes many of the issues with stalker
Anomaly is like the ultimate stalker experience.
No main story, no goal really other than survival. You just go around and look for artifacts or do some random quests for other stalkers. Weapons are also fixed and now even a pistol can be a killer weapon, even if you only have 5 bullets, you can kill 5 people with that, whereas in the original Stalker you had to use all the 5 bullets for one person and they would still be alive.
@@veru6907 It does have a story though
@@intecrisis i know tere's a story mode, but these are jsut random quests, not really a story per se
unless something has changed since the last time i played?
@@veru6907 There is a main story, and a faction storyline quest for each faction. The story mode is something you have to enable similar to call of chernobyl.
It's pretty cool and I believe it ends up with you taking on SIN and some of the secretive groups behind the making of the zone itself
Fun fact: it is commonly believed that, as opposed to Russian roubles, the zone's economy runs on Soviet roubles, This is attributed by their in-game icon and the fact Ukraine does not name their currency roubles
2:10 Nooooo you forgot about movie! That was bigger inspiration for a game than novel.
Including the use of thrown screws to check for anomalies.
I'd actually say the game has more in common with the book. They both have the treasure hunters.
Also, where's the poll?
I need a month of stalker content in my life.
I don't, but I DO support democracy
@@Direblade11 democracy has failed comrade
Great video buddy
Woah wasn't expecting to see you guys here. Good content.
RIP Guitar Guy
The first game is my favorite. I love the bleak atmosphere of literal post-apocalypse. In this game, you can really see how everyone is trying to survive. Its pitty the atmosphere was quite drastically changed in the following games, where everyone just trying to earn some buck or kill each other.
Also, the game is a literal horror in some levels. There are not many jump scares but being in the abandoned dungeon or tunnels with weird noises coming from around the corner makes you want to leave and never return
Forget "Call of Chernobyl" mod, its no longer supported. instead look into "Anomaly" which is the top rated stalker mod on moddb and standalone built on top of "call of chernobyl". Also give "Misery" mod a try for a harder survival experience.
misery is a damn good one, they still haven't patched the late game crashes but the weapon reworks yeah you can die in seconds but so can the enemies (i always played sniper and picked them off then moved in with a shotgun from 150m the shotguns will actually hit out that far and on bandits with light armor thats a death sentence from 9 different pellets) it actually felt like i had used a shotgun on whatever enemy because generally it either stunned or outright annihilated it, i also remember the inverse where some bandit with a sawn off blew my head off
This. CoC is done and dusted, Anomaly is where it's at. Misery is also good though.
Whats the Minimum and Recommended PC requirements for Anomaly??
@@hunkwasbisyan007 It's the same as Call of Pripyat as far as I know, you can turn off everything pretty much. It's gonna look bad, but it will run.
@@hunkwasbisyan007 it runs well on my i3-4005u 1.7ghz laptop with 4gb ram.
you can just load it with anything from dx8 to dx11 and i run it in dx9 working alright. would recommend dx10 at least though for better lighting
TIP: in rookievillage theres a merc suit that you need to parkour to get to it
Tip2:You can heal the condition of your armor using 4 Battery artifacts and going to a shock anomaly to heal the condition (only works for armor)
Tip3:Download a mod to increase weapon damage so the enemies arent as bullet sponges but i wouldnt do that because bullet sponge enemies make s.t.a.l.k.e.r feel more uh well s.t.a.l.k.e.r
i thought increased difficulty made enemies less of a bullet sponge?
@@mckitsune7600 I dont think it works like that at least in SoC
some enemies take more bullets than others tho
example 2 shells to kill a bandit and 4 shells to kill a solider
also bandits are just dipshits so prob not a good example
@@joem.9256 found this in a steam discussion
You want to play on Master. The lower difficulties actually make things slightly more frustrating because weapons do less damage across the board. That means you'll take less damage, but it also makes enemies bullet-sponges no matter what kind of ammunition you use.
@@mckitsune7600 i tried that out on The game, didnt quite work
@@joem.9256 As far as I'm aware, the main game was mainly tailored around Master, with the rest of the difficulties just kinda thrown in. The game is good as it is, you just need to get headshots/use better ammunition/use better weapons. It's a severe case of git gud.
I believe that repairing weapon was introduced with clear sky
Damn boy, you are killing it with the videos lately! Love your content man!
true! Loving it
He did not mention the STALKER film? Great watch, it's free now on youtube.
Also he didn't mention STALKER Anomaly at all, even though it's ACTUALY the most prominent standalone mod?!
probably because he didn't know it yet
Wow, just last night I was wondering why I wasn't getting recommendations and started catching up on the backlog, now there's a another video out the very next day?
Nice
Roadside picnic also had the wish granter
The moment I was most scared was when I had to go into the military sewers again and first of all realised there was two more bloodsuckers at the start, and then I saw them...
I was on 2-3 mags to beat a base of bloodsuckers
Can I recommend you the Goldensphere mod for SoC? It nicely expands on the mystic nature of the zone(like unique artifact from an empty pack of cigs that allows you to recover some health when smoking), although it has very rigid scripting that is very easy to break and the easiest to access translation is poor at best.
I liked the big end battle, the fact that it was so different made it fun, all careful until that point and then just all out.
Yeah I agree. It was the end of the game after all and a big set piece. Made you work for it and it was an all out battle.
Reminder that S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 is coming out in 2022!
That game isn't real until it actually comes out. Expect unexplained delays and underwhelming release a-là Cyberpunk 2077.
I will gladly eat my words if it's not the case, but GSC and their CEO were doing something shady before the announcement of Stalker 2 that I can't really trust them.
Never buy into hype. Always wait and see.
this comment aged so poorly
10:12 You do realize that there was a flashlight mapped to L button on your kryboard, right?
There is one more free, self contained mod you forgot to mention called Stalker: Anomaly. I've only been a couple hours into it, but it's been a solid, tough experience thus far.
Install isn't too hard either, even on Linux. Just boot it up through Lutris and make a few tweaks, and you're golden.
Good hunting, S.T.A.L.K.E.R.
Man I love stalker,I'm very fond of your vid! The timing of your upload was also on point! I just finished (re)playing Call of Pripyat today
P.S. Also Spiral Knight OST is so good
You should try Stalker: anomaly, it just take all the stalkers games and combines them into one, its really fun!
I am so hyped for S.T.A.L.K.E.R 2 Heart of Chernobyl.
Call of Pripyat is also very clean, I had so much joy getting a very good ending, getting the exoskeleton with crazy upgrades, getting the unique version of the VSS Vintorez, also known as the Vintar BC in-game, called the tide and rocking out with the 9x39mm SP-6 rounds. I should also hop on again and try to fully upgrade the SEVA suit as well, so I have 2 top-notch, crazy-ass Stalker suits that’ll make the Zone a literal walk-in-the-park.
An amazing series of game I've replayed countless times, I'm so hyped for stalker 2
. "Errors in the code of reality" is the best description of not only anomalies, but the whole Zone in the book, movie and games.
Every time I hear about the holiday cards I think, "Is it Painmas already?"
I will always recommend first time players to install the base version of Zone Reclamation Project mod.
You knocked it out the park with this one. Ace video bud. Loving Halloween in July as per!
Just wanna say, I found you through the Halloween in July from last year and I'm so happy to be here for this year
Stalker is one of those games that I always heard of, saw, and wanted to play. But because I was and still mostly am a console player, I didn't get to play it myself until about 2013 or so. Its janky, has its problems, but boy is it a good time.
The only thing that jingle jangle jingles in this nuclear apocalypse is all the screws you keep on you at all times.
GREAT video!! thanks for the upload... love your content bro
"Repair men won't show up to the zone until Call of Pripyat"
I guess Clear Sky really isn't liked that much huh? lmao
Also, you do know there are head lamps in the zone? It's bound to a ridiculous button which is "L" but it gets the job done when it gets dark.
honestly, i love the last few hours of SoC. the tense firefights against hordes of monolith are really fun
excellent video as always! i would like to add that you do have a flashlight for the dark areas before you find night vision. i think L is the default bind.
2:10 i'd say stalker is much more inspired by Tarkovski's cinema adaptation of road side picnic, with many of its own unique elements appearing in the game
That film is fascinating...even more so considering so many of the cast and crew actually died because of it
Oh hey, I helped kickstart Archeron! Good to see them popping up and getting more attention!
Thanks for the early birthday gift Charl!
The Zone is one of my favorite game areas. Been recently diving back into Anomaly (Standalone Mod) and I just like spending time doing odd jobs and exploring.

For Stalker mods I recommend Anomaly, it is open world and all locations like CoC, but has its own storyline, you can also play as all factions some of which have their own storylines.
Since you will be doing stalker content for a month anyway, you can try Anomaly or Dead Air after finishing the main trilogy. Anomaly has a ton of new content and quests, whilst Dead Air is a more hardcore survival oriented mod that rewards you for patience and resource management.
stalker(film)/stalker(game)/roadside picnic(lit.) is in itself the zone. showing you what it is you seek.
entirely different entities themselves.
>Lost Alpha adds everything imaginable

Still, this rookie didn't even find the Burers. Can't say I'm surprised.
i thought he was gonna say "lets take a sec to address the stalker in the room"
First Warlockracy, now you with STALKER video.
Perfect!
10:00 Don't tell me you dind't know you have a flashlight all the time .

HELL YEAH ! I was waiting for this
Goddamn your content is amazing, you definetly deserve more subscribers.
i see Stalker I upvote
This is the kind of eurojank we keep coming back for.
Duty and Freedom are actually metaphors for USSR and US. Duty has strict military doctrine and regime. They want to save everyone from the zone. Freedom are chill guys who always welcome the player. They drink and smoke and their main goal is just to learn the zone and live with it. Also Duty guys use soviet gear and ammo while Freedom dudes use NATO gear and ammo most of the time.
Good opening with the bat cat. 🦇🐈
My favourite RUclipsr playing my favourite game!
bandit; casually shoots - me: i wish to not shoot (local freeplaying) - me: hmm lets join freedom to fix this - me: casually kills every dutyer for the destroy the duty company quest **casually breaks** - me:makes a friendly reputation - freedom: nahhhh,do that broken quest - *you see, this is the worst bug*
Nice video just bought the game because of it
Yes! ITS ABOUT TIME!
Both Anomaly and Call of Chernobyl are awesome mods, its a shame CoC is dead now tho
I just realized that the zone and the abyss from made in abyss are pretty similar. Both are dangerous places filled with weird shit with the only reason anyone would ever want to go there being powerful artifacts.
Great review! I played SoC when I was a kid on my crappy pc and it was so much fun.
I'd also recommend the Anomaly standalone mod. It's got a load of great improvents upon the Call of Chernobyl mod, plus has tons of addons available for it.
Finally, a cat that talk about the games I like!
What a moment to be alive.
A whole month of stalker?!! Man can't wait for 2022 July!!
about time lol my fav game series
Just to make you sad the master stalker that you kill. He was a mechanic in zone helping other stalkers. His backstory before entering zone was that his wife left him whit Nothing after divorce and he came to zone to kill himself but he find purpose in zone and decide to not kill himself.
And you kill him monster
for bandit
I'd love to see a review of stalker anomaly. Its basically "you ain't shit and you're gonna die" simulator
Wow. been playing the game since I was a kid and never knew about the wild area suit. never thought I'd learn something at this point
Love the cat pics
Hurray! More July Spookies!
WHERE IS THE POLL, CAT? I VOTE YES
"A pda, thats an iPhone before the iPhone, if you weren't around for that" :'-)
You need to play stalker anomaly and lost alpha for sure, you won't regret it. You really should have included this series in the immersive sims video
you can really see where battlestate games gets their inspiration from
I think one of the biggest misgivings is that iron sights is for close range battles to pop a headshot, not medium or long distance without scopes. That one little tip, hip shoot unless you are in cqb or have a scope, is kinda huge. It is very useful for executing staggered enemies in close range and that is about it.
Skip Call of Chernobyl and go for ANOMALY, the ultimate stalker experience
YES
Someone NEEDS to compile a list of the big stalker mods in a review format to help ppl navigate the zone! (The zone being Mod DB)
Hopefully by the time next Halloween in July is here, The Journey will have finished development. I’ve always wanted to see a sort of review on that, even if it isn’t out of beta yet lmao
(The journey is a vanilla-styled mod that takes place in 2020 and basically shows that since CoP, things have only gotten worse)
@@manformerlypigbukkit that's super cool!
I'm just surprised he didn't mention Anomaly after talking about CoC.
@Pig Bukkit Sounds cool. I've always wished there were more story-oriented mods, and it sounds like this might be what I'm looking for?
The STALKER games sort of turned what was previously a one-off novel (Roadside Picnic) into a subgenre of Russian localized post-apocalypse fiction. Or maybe a sub-subgenre. The other major part of this is the Metro franchise, which takes a bunch of the same elements. The video games were even developed by the same guys behind STALKER.
If you somehow need yet more of this subgenre, there's a tabletop skirmish wargame called Zona Alfa. It's basically Mordheim/Frostgrave, except in the Zone during modern day. It's miniatures agnostic, so there's no shortage of affordable models you can pick up if you want to run it.
wait a stalker vid? NICE! i have spent the past 3 weeks playing stalker anomaly nonstop. its a good mod
I’m so excited for STALKER 2
There are some really great STALKER mods out there. You should definitely cover STALKER Anomaly (it's a standalone game at this point) and STALKER Misery. Both are really great, especially for those looking for a more open sandbox-like stalker experience.
More Stalker!!!!!
He doesn't know you have a flashlight the whole game!
oh my god it’s here
I always liked this game. Atmosphere is really cool.
Welcome to the zone, Stalker.
Dude played through the whole game without the flashlight
If I`m not mistaking, the "RU" currency in the game stands for soviet rubles that stalkers use as internal zone currency for the lack of better alternatives as there are a lot of them lying around in the zone after it became the exclusion zone in the 80's, and not russian rubles from modern day RF. You can see that on the image of money in dialog window when getting rewarded for doing side quests. So stalkers actually make quite a good buck out of "stalking", or else it wouldn`t make sence
i loved when you talked to your cat.
There is no jank, only anomalies
