hi. ex-tor project here. 1. Each tor browser tab uses its own circuit. anyone can easily validate this by looking at the circuit made in each tab. so you can safely keep identities separate just by using different tabs. however, going from one log-in site to a non-log-in site in the same tab, within the circuit refresh time (10 minutes), one might accidentally tip off surveillance (ads) from site to site. at least, large exit relays are exiting for thousands of people at the same time, so there is still some protection. You also don't need to restart Tor each time you want a new tor circuit. you can refresh the circuit manually from within a tab, or you can just open a new tab. 2. using tor to log into sites, even facebook, still gives the user physical location privacy. it protect where they are physically. this is essential for domestic violence survivors, especially those who might have abusers who know their log in credentials and are able to see where they are logging in from based on past IPs logged in from, which some services show the user.
I have a question, I was reading that the TBB because its based on Firefox, I have seen concerns of the sandboxing and that it would be better to use Chrome with the Tor service instead. It could be just FUD or extreme concerns but I was just wondering.
Finally someone who actually knows what they are talking about. There are so many people giving out incorrect advice and then we wonder why nobody can agree on anything anymore. That said i do have one correction to due with VPN. First if you are using a vpn your isp can still see you are using tor. Second the only way to use tor properly is hard to set up. The ONLY way to use it is first connect to tor then to your vpn and disconnect from yoru vpn before leaving the tor network. That said on the tor projects wiki, on the second or third questions, it says it does not recommend using a vpn at all. To me that means there is no debate, i trust the tor team over everyone else. good job man. u nailed all the important pioints.
This is not correct. If you are properly using a VPN, your ISP will NOT see that your are using TOR, they will simply see that your are sending and receiving data from your VPN. Your VPN provider will still be able to know you are using TOR, but they will be unable to see what data you are transmitting through TOR.
If you're using a VPN then your ISP CANNOT SEE that you are using tor. What are you on about? All your traffic gets tunneled(including TOR traffic) through VPN first, then when it gets decrypted by the VPN, only the VPN guys can see it.
The Brave browser has the option to open "new private window with Tor", it also has an integrated VPN option. I was hoping you might be able to provide some useful commentary on the reliability of this way of accessing Tor and the Brave browser generally.
TOR window on brave won't provide you anonymity. Brave itself mentions it in the window. They had this window just as an easy access to onion sites. Websites will still be able to fingerprint you and identify you. If u want anonymity then TOR is what you need.
Hi, thanks for the video. I am currently forced to buy a ticket from the country of origin: South Korea. I accessed the site via Torr and everything worked fine. Question: Is it less secure to pay with my credit card on Tor than on my google browser? Is there anything I should worry about when paying through Tor? Thanks again!
I'm not an expert, but I think all tor would do for you there is conceal your IP address and let any corrupt members of the site, hackers, and government that could subpoena the site know that you, yes you the one with the credit card, use tor, which might bring unwanted suspicion. I mean if you have nothing to hide you still have a smidge of extra anonymity, but the credit card is pretty bad for that in the first place so eh idk.
The curious thing is my Tor will not save passwords or ask to save passwords at logins. This is curious because I have that function box ticked in settings, but for some reason the program refuses to write PW's to the disk. I wish I knew how to fix it. I understand why Tor has it defaulted because it conflicts with other privacy functions of the program and defeats some aspects of security, but it sure is annoying.

I thought Brave was terrible for privacy or something?
can it hide what i search on the internet, from my wifi admin as i had to give him my mac adress?
Yes. They might however detect that you are using tor.
Hey so I need help I used tor on full screen and I have a feeling something happened so I shut down my computer and I don't know what to do
go onto your computer and check your files and downloads for anything that you didn’t download, if you find anything DO NOT try to open it

Often when Tor is blocked I use some free proxy as last hop. Sadly this sometimes breaks some sites.

Oh Hi Jonah.
Does the external application work the same on a kali linux
Just one question: how to disable private mode on Android?
Can you use tor on a iphone ?
Yep
Cant be all that private when it allows google pass to popup wanting to remember your username and password.
Make a full tutorial of i2p Android too.
Good video!
Thanks
guys.. how 2 load metamask browser extension to Tor browser??.. is it like firefox or ???
what about banks? login and checking?
Only use tor whit vpn if you have a vpn always on
And only use a trust whorty vpn like mullvad or ivpn
Otherwise its pretty usless...
Why? You can use a bridge if you don't trust your ISP seeing a Tor connection. Adding another hop is not going give you anything but slower speeds.

why tor does not support brave search engine?
In my experience, Tor does support the Brave search engine. Brave even has an onion mirror for its search.
I wonder if a LLM can help with making the way you type become generic :/'
I believe TAILS already has a software to randomize you typing patterns. No need for LLMs.
