Restoration of Caucasian Dagger - from Mountains to my Workshop

- Hello folks! Today I want to present to you a new restoration of the Caucasian dagger. They brought it to me from Kakheti (partially mountainous a region in Georgia). The dagger of the early 19th century, but someone tried to "restore" it is a few years ago, and we will soon find out and see "how". Well, I will try to restore it in my workshop!
The first duty, I disassembled the dagger sheath. As I thought. The scabbard, the handle was all made not so long ago, and the most rude and terrible mistake is that someone removed the rust of an old dagger with a rough stone... I am more than sure that the stamp was lost in this way. But nothing can be changed. I will try to restore what is left.
I cleaned the blade and the accessories of the scabbard with a rust remover. Furthermore, I kept the old leather suspension and what the "scabbard" was wrapped with - it may be useful in the following restoration or renovation projects.
After that, I washed everything, dried it and began to clean it with sandpaper. The blade was sanded with sandpaper from 80 to 360 grit.
I made the handle for the dagger from beech, the accessories of the handle are steel, I applied with the help of stichels. Steel rivets. The sheath for the dagger I made of wood, pasted with natural thin leather. I managed to adjust the steel suspension to fit the new scabbard, but there is no tip. It turned out to be rotten and very thin, and the biggest problem was that it was soldered with brass, and it was not possible to give a new shape.
I made a new scabbard tip also made of steel and everything went well. As usual, I conducted a small dagger test. I hope you enjoy this restoration video.
Sincerely, Alex. Thanks for attention!
Good luck and health to everyone! With best wishes, Alex!

👍Job well done
Bravo brother 👏👏👏👏

Alex, I have watched all your videos from the beginning of your channel and you never fail to impress me with your skill and attention to detail. Keep going my, friend it's a great wonder to see you work your trade craft magic. Keep those videos coming!
Wow! My first thought when seeing this dagger with aluminium handle and screwed up scabbard was that if I tried to restore it, the end result would be something like that - or worse. Excellent job, amazing result, and to see your failures along the way makes end result all so much better.
Hello! Thank you so much for feedback
Adam, as an artisan with twice Alex's apparent age, I'm gonna tell you why _he_ doesn't get horrible results, and (do _not_ sell yourself short) very likely why _you_ wouldn't also get such an horrible result: when he makes an horrible mistake, he tries to fix it if possible, or trashes it and does it again if not. It's what I taught my little daughter when she first started doing crafts, and is what Alex preaches (AND shows) in his channel. And based on your apretiation that he... original status of this dagger was an abomination, I don't see _you_ doing otherwise. As long as _you_ also do the same, _you_ won't make abominations like that. (Works of art not guaranteed - just lack of shaming kludges. One can not ask for more).

Cool stuff always thanks 😎
You did fantastic job, my friend!!! Great!
Thanks

My dad picked up a beauty in 1974 Iran . A long fuller down thr center though with a 3 inch crack in the bottom center of said fuller . Black horn handle scales held on with two dime size silver coins. Can’t remember composition of sheath . I see a labor of love with this craftsman 😊
Hi! Thank you for your attention and story!
Wow , unchanged since Roman times. That wax in the sheath is a good idea too.😊
Thank you!
Wonderful job bro
