Hi friend! Since the conception of this channel, I have aimed to create an audio/visual "experience" of shell collecting for viewers. Thank you so so much for acknowledging this component of my work. 💙
Beautiful video and some wonderful shell finds. I appreciate you naming all the shells for us so that we can learn their names. Did you see Jaime from Plum Island Sea Cabin? May 2023 bring you a bucket list shell or two. 😃🐚
Hi friend! So funny that you bring up the idea of a collab - Jamie and I have loosely discussed(in YT comments section), the potential for a collab. When the timing is right, we'll make it happen! 💙
Another awesome video with great videography. Love those giant moons! Ugh, I wish I was close enough to go for a day of shelling there. Thank goodness I've got you and Jaime to watch.
Live Moonsnails love to spread out all over the place on the sand, haha. They are truly an impressive creature to observe.... Thanks so much for watching!
As I get older I keep hearing that same question in my heart that has haunted me my entire life "what would you do the rest of your life that would bring you immense joy?" This ... I would travel the world and hunt for treasures on the beaches and share the art of God and the sea with the world. My soul aches for this ... and given my life and its challenges and everyone must come before my own desires, I follow you here. YOU and your videos are the closest I may ever get to this dream. For that, I am most grateful. Thank you for this gift. People who have never shelled have no idea the healing, the love, the peace, the perspective of everything that comes with it. Shell on!
Your words have have truly captured the essence of meaning for why I enjoy creating, and sharing these experiences with everyone. Years and years ago, when I was 11 years old, my parents took me to Miami Beach, for the first time. I played in the trough where the waves were hitting the beach, and I saw that there were shells being washed and tossed around me. I collected a couple handfuls, analyzed, and appreciated the beauty - this was the moment...and I haven't looked back since. You have reminded me of the importance of capturing the beautiful perspective. Shell on, my dear friend!
Hi from SC. I love the bea he's at Plym Island. I watch Jamie all the time and purchase from her shop because it's too far for a trip there. I love the moons and my fav are those gorgeous sand dollars. Love your videos and music you play. So relaxing! Those BIG moons, WOWZA!!
Hello! It's so funny you mention this because, I realized(when editing this video), I only kept a handful of these goodies when I left the beach this day. After I did the outro, I left most of the shells on the beach. I LOVE to collect shells, but as my collection grows, I find that I only take specimens that are, new species(that I don't currently have in my collection), or, unique specimens of species - variations in color, shape, or biological mutation etc. Thanks for watching!
We live close to Plumb Island and must have just missed you there last week. We ended up with some nice moonsnails. Plumb island is best appreciated in winter as the limited parking lots fill up quickly in the summer. It is truly a beautiful place, especially the lighting in winter.
Hello! This episode was actually filmed a couple months ago - I only saw one person on the area of the beach I was at, so it was a quiet day at PI, for me! Winter is the BEST time to shell and beach-comb here, so I agree with your sentiment - thanks so much for coming along!
@7:18, that Sand Dollar is gorgeous; the surface looks like a woven basket! Actually, all of the shells are beautiful. Thanks for taking us with you 😊 🐚
The inky blue of the ocean in contrast to the light blue of the sky with passing wispy clouds certainly makes for a gorgeous backdrop when shelling....Hope you had a great Christmas and Happy New Year!....and thanx for letting me tag along once again!!!🤟
Hi friend! All of the colorful descriptions...I can tell you have been watching this content on your new 4k TV! 🙂 I am so appreciative of your support - thank you for continuing to watch the content and engage in the comments!
great video. I like that you showcase all of your finds at the end. Do you have any suggestions for places to stay at plum island in the winter months?
Hi friend! I don't live near the Plum Island area(Newburyport/Ipswich, Mass). I am aware however, that there are many AirBNB rentals in the area! Even though winter is considered the slow season here, there should be some option for a rental! Thanks for watching my content!
Hi friend! I do indeed have a fond reverence for nature - it's one of the reasons I so enthusiastically attempt to capture it's raw components in my content. Thank you so much for appreciating, and watching the content!
Happy New Year to Solace in Shelling. 🐚You bring me such joy watching and learning. I am from Massachusetts and missed the boat to Plum Island. Now living in Oregon, are any of your Moon snail's available for purchase? Would LOVE to have one.
Happy New Year, friend! MA ---> OR - that's a great move! The northwest coast of the US is surreal in beauty, and I do believe there are species of Moonsnails there! I don't actually sell any shells, but I know a close shell friend who does sell PI shells - www.etsy.com/shop/PlumIslandSeaCabin If you like my content, you'll also like hers! I hope to see you on my next adventure!
What a great day - no people, beautiful weather, my kind of shelling! So @ 8:20 when you showed us a "mollusc operculum," what is your guess as to what it belongs to? It is pretty large (my first thought would be a moonsnail) and it definitely has an interesting shape - not flat like like most operculums I have come across and it looks fairly thick. Additionally, considering how many moonsnails show up on this beach, from the videos I have seen from you and from others, from my vantage point anyway, it doesn't seem there are a lot of shells that show moonsnail drilling - even other moonsnails, unless, of course, their prey don't get to the beach. That one moonsnail that had been in a state of being broken down by organisms @11:25 - very cool would have made a great shell cleaned up. All interesting! Plum Island on my list to get to - LOVE the moonsnails! Thanks for taking us on another great hunt!
Hello! Wow - such great observations! This operculum, given the size and shape, would most likely belong to a Northern Moonsnail - my best guess! Moonsnails are VORACIOUS predators, and will even eat each other! I may not have captured it here, but if you observe dead molluscs in this area, there are MANY times, drill holes, or attempted drill holes in the shells. Thanks so much for watching, and engaging with the content!
Hi friend! So funny you mention this. I sometimes mix the False Angelwing up with the Fallen Angelwing shell. The Fallen Angelwing(Barnea truncata), is also known as the Atlantic Mud Piddock, and is a separate species from the False Angelwing. I haven't yet found a Fallen Angelwing, but I hope to some day! Thanks for watching!
Hi friend! Plum Island is located in Massachusetts and is warm, generally from around April through October. I usually only visit Plum Island to shell in the colder months, because shelling is often better then, or at least I have found! Thanks for watching!
I see people selling the moon shells for quite a lot, so worth collecting, by the time it converts to nz dollars it like 50 bucks... a bit much to justify : -( but I'd love to do a swap for kiwi shells if anyone's keen?
Hi friend, I don't collect shells to sell them - I collect just for the joy of the experience. With that said, I would love to visit NZ some day to find shells!

Why don't you bring an empty margarine container with a cover to put the delicate shells in. They might .ake it home. Instead of complaining about broken shells. Do something about it.
I love your videos 🤗 I can see you are quite a very experienced videographer!! They are so professional!! Blessing to you for 2023!! 🙌🏻🦋🙌🏻

Beautiful video and some wonderful shell finds. I appreciate you naming all the shells for us so that we can learn their names. Did you see Jaime from Plum Island Sea Cabin? May 2023 bring you a bucket list shell or two. 😃🐚
