No one wakes up one day and goes "you know what, I'm gonna be gay today"
Actually anyone could do that but they dont
I do that every day of my life man 🤣
It's something that gradually occurs. Sexuality is developed over time.
Logan Paul does or was it Jake Paul
James Hong it’s not really developed over time but discovered over time. No one gradually becomes gay or becomes straight, but they gradually discover who they are over time.

@@mrThorleifsen I do

I'd like to think sexual preference is comparable to that of food preference. I hate shrimp, for example. No matter how much I try it, no matter how much I try to enjoy it, it just won't taste good to me. I'll spit it out. I'll gag. Yet there are others who'll eat it like candy. That doesn't make sense to me, but I don't question it. Same thing goes for the opposite. Some people hate white chocolate, I love white chocolate. It's my favorite type (inb4 replies calling me a white supremacist for stating that). I don't get why others don't; white chocolate is fucking delicious; but again, I'm not gonna question. Same situation with sexual preference. And no matter how much you try, you can't change someone's tastes in food, both literally and euphemistically. It can change overtime, naturally, though. I used to love the taste of root beer as a kid. Now I can barely keep it down. Just as an example. But you can't force me to like root beer again. It just won't happen. I'm not gay, so I don't want to make assumptions, and anyone can correct me if I'm wrong, but it seems like a pretty logical analogy to me.
shrimp
Yes thisssss
Holy crap that is pretty much spot on
WRONG! You CAN start liking something by eating it enough times, even if you dislike it at first. You don't like a song? Listen to it a hundred times, you'll find something you like about it. You don't like shrimps? Eat them three times a week, you'll get used to it and actualyl find something about the taste you honestly enjoy. Sexual preference is an entirely different thing though, hard and stupid to compare it to food.

Ryan and his friends seem like really chill and nice people. They seem like genuinely good people.
I’ve always had the thought; why would someone choose to be something that is so unaccepted by society? What would be the point of choosing to be ridiculed, bullied, harassed, and unwanted by society? I’m not in any way validating these things but that’s how the world is. I’m bisexual myself and it’s difficult being told you’re confused and you just don’t know what you want and can’t control your hormones and things like that. I don’t think anyone would willingly choose to live the lives that the LGBT+ community at times suffer from.
No its not, they're very accepted as of now, as u can see how the Logan paul thing blew up its weird how its now unacceptable to test out to be gay for a month, because ur "born" gay, when the people in the 1960s+ fought for the right of freedom to CHOOSE to be gay. I would say logan paul would have had less heat if he said Ima be bicurious and try to go gay for a month.
You are correct. You cannot legislate how people think.
@@deborah8137 they fought for the right to publicly be gay, not to choose to be gay. Gay people are not "accepted", conversion camps still exist legally. Homosexuality, bisexuality, pansexuality, asexuality, transgender. They are not choices, they are traits. LP's "trying" out being gay is appropriation for views and publicity. Genuine curiosity is okay, but posting videos about your "gay for a month challenge" is not okay.
*exactly*
@@deborah8137 we are not very accepted, many many people will not accept us because of their religious views. we get discrimnated in many ways everyday. you dont just go gay for a month. its a lifelong exploration, and your always processing information and refining your sexuality. from my experiance i went through many phases, from straight to lesbian to bisexual, and i know there will be more questions and quite possibly more phases. note that i am not saying sexuality is a phase, just that there are many chapters in the book of sexuality. you dont choose to be something, you deepen your understanding of yourself, and i think thats where a lot of people get confused
These are some deep things, haven’t heard Ryan being this wise for awhile.
The thought they were putting into this is amazing 🙌
As a gay guy, I can tell you that hearing people say that being gay is a choice is very frustrating. Like you guys said, it's as simple as asking a straight guy if they could choose to like guys, or a straight girl if they could choose to like girls; the answer is no. Nobody would choose to be gay. All it does is add an extra obstacle to your life with coming out to people and all the things that go along with it.
Lawng Wang it’s not a choice?! you’re straight lmao you got nothing to say about this
@@siah5134 If you believe that it's a choice, choose to like guys right now. Oh, wait, you can't, because it isn't a choice.
@@pancakebite I could easily tell myself to like girls. I could easily tell myself to like guys. And I'm a straight female. Honestly, I just think society is effecting this too much. If it was the 1900s, would you still come out?
@@rania6674 you could tell yourself to "like" girls, but you wouldn't actually like them. Attraction is a feeling, it's not just going to suddenly change because you told yourself to make it change. Just look at the shock therapy and torture methods they used to do in an attempt to make gay people straight; they rarely worked, like so incredibly rare, maybe 0.05% of people, if any. And the fact that they had to use shock therapy to try to convert people instead of just telling them to change their mind proves that you can't simply choose to be attracted to the opposite sex. If it were the 1900s, I would still eventually come out. Yes I'd be ridiculed much harder and perhaps my quality of life would be lowered, but those people who made that bold decision in the past have made it easier for people to come out now, and it is a good thing that people are able to come out easier now. Obviously things are going to change over 100 years.
@@Kakashislayer225Notice how I said IF you use the whole animal excuse. I was using a common example since you gave me no actual reason. And like I said, we have reasons to be attracted to people other than reproducing. Obviously we need heterosexual people to keep the human race alive, but there can be homosexuals as well, and the human race will still go on. In fact, there are problems with overpopulation around the world, so it is good that not ALL people go the typical route of having children. And no, I do not believe the stuff people are making up about gender, but if people want to believe that, they can because it isn't hurting anyone.
Hearing you guys talk about this in such a chill way was actually really great! Like I was surprised by how great it felt. Shit, I wish people were less afraid to talk about social issues in general. I think it's the fear of talking about stuff that has made everything PC. As long as you come from a place of genuineness and a wish to gain understanding rather than bashing or making fun of someone, these conversations and shouldn't just be fair game, but encouraged!! Anyway, glad you posted this. As a long-time fan and a lesbian, idk, it was just nice. It's like coming out to a friend and finding out that they're really chill about it.

I was actually quite confused about my sexuality for a while. I had never had crushes on ANYONE at all so I never really knew what I liked. But I did realise I’m straight but can still look at a girl and go “holy crap she’s sexy as all hell”, and I’m fine with that. If ur confused about who you are, know that your mind is your own and you can take as much time as you want

Everything I thought this was going to be and better x Thanks again! You've inspired my life dude x
But here's the thing... Should the answer even matter?
It really shouldn't. Because let's just say if it is, what makes the choice of being gay the wrong one?
@@lisandrodiaz6320 i agree but it still matters to show to homophobic people
Yes, it should.
People need to know that the answer is "No", because if they don't, they'll think that it could be Yes and that people can just stop being gay.
The point is that, regardless of choice, a person has the right to choose whatever (or with whoever) they want to do, as long as it is with consent.
It shouldn't matter if it's a choice or not. What people do in their bedrooms is their own damn business.
@@debries1553 Exactly, but you should know that lots of people don't think like that. They care far too much (for some reason) and that's something we can't change. So the answer needs to be clear.
Lol I'm gay and I don't like gagging that wasn't relevant Paco wtf 😂 I appreciate that you said it tho
I see you made the choice XD
Yeah, Paco's association between gag reflex and male-on-male sexuality is incorrect, but at least he used it as a springboard to more enlightened thinking, rather than allowing the thought to pull him into further ignorance.
Maybe if he had gagged on a giant sausage rather than a toothbrush...

Honestly what they said about extremes and a point where the opposite completely overshadows it is so true. During the Greek era it was completely normal to be sexually attracted to someone of the same sex and then we came to a phase where homosexuality was completely illegal and then again now where it is pretty much normal.
Will is me when I try to act smart

Being gay is a choice for majority of gays just small part of gay community is actually those who are just born with mutation in other words a DNA mistake that makes them naturally atracted to the same sex. And being gay can also be taught if you are raised in invaronment that is more like the other sex or bc child cant tell genders apart until curtain age if that "not knowing about exsistance of other sex" goes on the child may grow up gay. I can tell you guys more ways to be gay due to the fact that gays can be born, made, taught or just chosen to be. Love is love and i have nothing against gays due to my sister being lesbian, but i can prove that being gay can be a choice and anyone who says otherwise is ignorant of facts.

Nice vid👍
If you could choose, you would not choose the difficult option.
This has been said by many prominent gay people.
You are born gay in my opinion.
I know many gay people and have had this discussion.
You also only have to look into the tragic cases of people such as Alan Turin. A person that helped win WW2 but was persecuted to the point of suicide for his supposed choice.
Look at interviews with contemporaries such as Boy George and many others that have expressed their feelings from pre teen years.
As a heterosexual I could never change my sexual preference.
Could you?
Either that or you are saying you could easily choose to have gay sex if you want but you are just controlling it.
This is suuuuch an important topic, a topic it is especially important for straight people to talk about and recognize. We will of course hear many gay people fight for their case, but what we also need is heterosexual people discussing and reflecting on the social struggles of being gay today. That is how we grow as a community and evolve from being groups that only defend themselves. As a straight man, you wouldn’t believe the positive and kinda shocked reactions I have gotten from members of the LGTBQ community when showing some sympathy and actual understanding.
Great topic and podcast guys👏👏
Question? What social struggles are you talking about from today? So far in my life in the USA I haven't seen a person who attacked for being gay, or discriminated (but they surely did it. A gay person knowingly went into a Christian bakery and asked for a gay wedding cake could be made. Like he expected he was refused to do so by the person saying "it goes agenst my religion". He was bombarded with horrible reviews and was taken to court for discrimination. Which costed him al lot of money to fight the case. Do you call that discrimination.)
Reversed
It’s no unusual occurrence when people are disowned by their friends and family because of their sexuality. Additionally, there’s the stigma that gay people carry STDs, which makes people think of homosexuality as a danger, leading to things like conversion therapy and the non-acceptance of one’s sexuality. I know I’ve also definitely seen straight people treat gay people (especially men) with prejudice because they think every gay person must be attracted to them and they’re afraid of that. This often leads to exclusion, bullying and sometimes violence. I suggest you read the Wikipedia page on LGBT hate crimes in the U.S. (article’s titled ‘History of violence against LGBT people in the United States’).
You guys should continue this...
