- Our Audi B9 S4 gets a massive Unitronic Intercooler! The B9 S4 has a very small intercooler from Audi and upgrading the Intercooler is extremely beneficial when trying to get the most out of the B9 S4's 3.0T. Special thanks to Axel Automotive for having us and installing the Unitronic Intercooler! As we wrap up all the hardware mods for the Audi B9 S4 we will finally get the Stage 1+ tune in the next Vlog.

Currently have a 2020 S4 and I'm going with the Unitronic Intercooler as my next upgrade. I've got an IE intake + full straight pipe exhaust with a Carbnlab downpipe... It sounds incredible! Save some money on an expensive exhaust and just full send it lol. It's not THAT loud especially when you just have it in D mode
Nice upgrade! You'll really notice the difference in the summer. For the resonators, delete the front small ones - great oem+ sound with zero drone. See how you like it first and go from there. I've heard several claim lots of drone by deleting the center one, while some don't mind it. I'm more sensitive to it, so I may delete the mufflers for a bit more sound and keep the center resonator. My valves are already unplugged.

Best sounding exhaust for an S4 I have ever heard is the full cat back exhaust made by polo performance exhaust located in Canada. Sounds almost like a Nissan skyline GTR

I have an ecs x pipe which has some drone in dynamic but valves closed it’s dead silent. But still not pound enough valves open. Removing it all for an awe switch path👍🏾.
That’s what I’m afraid of is cutting up my stock exhaust only to want a full system, thanks for the input 💯
Very nice! I really need to get my S4 hooked up with the black optiks, especially that aftermarket grill, mind I ask where you got it? Is it just an eBay one? They all seem to be the same but I want a decent quality one. Also do you use the ridiculous new 0w-20 oil? I have it in mine now but I'm thinking to do what the Euro ones do, 5W-30.

Nice upgrade, resonators wise the less the better but to keep it on the quiet side might be worth keeping the front ones to limit cabin noise which can be more annoying that just loud exhaust.
That’s a good call. Maybe leave the front resonators and start with the x pipe 🤔
@@drivenbyboost yeah, got no resonator on my S3, not quite same setup, but I get more complaints about the cabin noise from delete than exhaust, even the pops/bangs.
With the larger intercooler now blocking the radiator from getting direct air, are you concerned with engine temps?
i cut my center resonator and front silencers but kept the muffler/valves to be able to control them. sounds amazing at such a low cost
definitely seems like the best option for cost effectiveness.

Id bet the upgraded intake and intercooler is allowing much less restriction to the turbo hence the better throttle response.
How much was the labor cost to install?
AWE switch path or Milltek so you have valve control. I am getting a switch path installed in a few days.

@@drivenbyboost One thing I will mention is Milltek qc is shit. First install botched because they didn't include clamps. They then sent clamps over and ended up sending me an exhaust that does not work for the S5 sportback with underbody brace, failed second installation that was luckily covered by the vendor..
Remus! I hear Akripovic is nice too. Both are $$$. I had Remus on my Corrado VR6, it was glorious!
Don't bother with resonator delete you will get tired of it. Ive removed the bigger resonator and replaced with xpipe and got a good amount of noise without drone. After removing the 2 smaller resonators noticed a bit more noise but a lot more drone. I have now moved onto the AWE Track Exhaust with the 2 smaller touring resonators which were purchased on the side. Perfect balance between loudness without drone. Where did you get your RS Grille? I see some on ebay but not sure the quality
Most are eBay or drop shippers. I got my grill from German auto accessories, I know carbnlabs also has them. But they’ve been on back order lately. Easily my favorite aesthetic mod for the S4

I have full awe track non res, it’s way too loud, way too much drone between 2-3k then it sounds pretty good after 3k

Check out the Audi sound enhancing resonator kit! It has an OEM plus sound, NO drone. You will not be disappointed.

deleting all the resonators and plugging your valves back in is the equilivant of any valved system tbh not worth the 1k price tag for a system
Forge intercooler is larger and would be better for a upgraded turbo .
Not many options for large turbos unfortunately atm, I’m hoping we see some stage 3 packages released for the platform soon 🙏

@@drivenbyboost Already did did the center resonator delete. There is definitely mild drone below 3K rpm. Looking into the Carnlab DP. Just received the Uni intercoooler as you have. Do you know if it has internal fins to push up the air for even distribution? I didn't see any looking inside from the end tanks.
