Daughtry 's version of WDOA is more 21st century; The original version by Bon Jovi gives you a feeling that you are in the Wild West :) don 't get me wrong though, they are both awesome!
good but I agree that it misses the old west feel, slightly too fast, and of course, missing richie terribly...he made that song with his awesome guitar and vocals. but if anyone had to sing this other than bon jovi, Daughtry is the man to do it.

I was hesitant to comment on a video from 2008 that was already 2 years past the date this song was recorded, I merely came across my old account I set up to share videos from the same season of Idol as this. My opinion the best and most diverse season where my guy won. But I had to say some things. I liked Chris on the show...not so much his band post show, no where as much as I liked Taylor and Katherine and their post idol stuff, even to this day. Katherine is starring in Waitress on Broadway! I wanted to be clear I liked him too. I like him on this song. But after reading some of the comments I wanted to say 1) In NO conceivable way can one consider the watered-down sterilized over blown karaoke covers that this show produced better than the ones by the original artists. Not this song, not Levon, not Big Black Horse, not Midnight Train to Georgia, not Something, Not Over the Rainbow. Nope not in a million years. Idol's producers over produced these songs and then asked amateurs to sing them in the shortest amount of time possible to mass produce music like no other corporation has before. Thus the reason I stopped watching after season 7. It was heartbreaking what they were doing to young musicians. 2) Yeah, Chris has a unique sound to Idol, the same about Taylor and several others that season. That's why I love Season 5 the best...and I truly believe back when his "band used to do this live" before idol he had all the passion and heart and grit that could stand up to the original, while making it his own. Chris's voice, like no other on idol, maybe like no other in the industry either since he always sang from his throat, I surprised he can still talk. I wonder if he can still hit those notes? Imagine if back then he started filling his chest lifting his diaphragm and hitting those notes...Because even in this studio version, it makes my throat hurt to hear him sing. He might not have won...he should have made it farther than he did, I have my theories why and it goes beyond the voters thinking he would surely be safe.
