    I agree with many of your points. EDC lights benefit more with flood for general purpose situations. I prefer having high candela for certain situations which has me wearing a small light on my keychain for edc general purpose things, while wearing a cloud defense light in my pocket. I don’t know why flashlight companies always get so much stuff wrong when you have so many similar posts about how it needs to be changed. We all have different ideas but the most common is if your going to call it an edc light then give it edc functions. There’s many things keeping me from jumping to buy this light. I haven’t really heard it discussed but if it has mode memory on the push to constant on I’m out. To keep it very simple I’m fine with the first click on to be the very low very narrow single led output for reading, while not disturbing someone next to you, and using it for some very discreet navigation. Next press to advance brightness it should switch to the surrounding flood lights for a low flood light with enough light to light up and entire circuit breaker panel without getting light splashed back in your eyes. Each advancement of brightness should only advance flood. I think the half press momentary is good for the spot/search feature, and keeping full press for all the output is fantastic. I just don’t think you need 4000lum to do that since it gets so hot. 2000 lumens of flood and 500 lumens of spot would be all you need in that little package. And it needs a reversible pocket clip to be an edc light. That’s just my $.02

    I have one and it needs some updates. But for a first model with all these features, I am impressed. Access to a flood on more lower levels would be the first thing I would change.

    The flood only on hight is precisely what’s holding me back on this one. I would have much preferred flood all the way and then Search and Lumishield through long presses.

    Really like mine, just got it yesterday. Not as excited about it as I thought I would be but I will give it some time to see how I really like it. One change I really want to see is flattening out the texture (jimping) right under the clip. Its like stuffing a cheese grater into my pockets. I am afraid its going to rip my pockets to shreds. And it gets very hot...but you can't change the laws of physics

    • @watchroll3310
      @watchroll3310  5 месяцев назад

      That is something I thought also about the texture being a bit too aggressive

    Got mine today has anyone else notice it is a little difficult to consistently keep the switch pushed in all the way for the 4000 lumen? Unless i push the switch in just perfectly and keep that pressure on the switch just perfectly the highest mode level drops back down. Needs some refinement on the tail switch

  • @rayoflight62

    You should calculate the illumination, not the flux - and you see why the floodlight is only possible at high power settings.
    As an example, the illumination - specified in cd/m² - at 10 lumen of flux would be barely visible at one metre. It is not a problem of the EDC33 flashlight, but a problem intrinsic to the physics of illumination. Floodlights needs to be very powerful, while it is possible to concentrate a relatively low light flux in a tight spot, and achieve a very good illumination with a relatively low power...

      I have been looking at the nitecore t4k. That's even smaller than this. A bit older, a bit more expensive but seems to have some advantages. These 4k lumen floodlights are only a few seconds but that's all you would need to disorient someone, a strobe function would be nice though.

    batterie intégrée non amovible ? Dommage , elle était presque bien , mais la batterie intégrée c'est du gâchis ! une bonne EDC inclus pouvoir changer de batterie si nécessaire , le jour où la batterie intégrée meurt , nous perdons directement la flaslight intégralement , alors certe ce n'est que 50/60 euros , mais ce n'est pas parce que ça coûte que ce prix que celà veut dire que son utilisateur sera prêt à la jeter intégralement pour en acheter à nouveau une autre :(:(

    • @watchroll3310
      @watchroll3310  3 месяца назад

      I would argue my nitecore p20ix is a better EDC light because it has more flood light. That light is a defense tactical light.
      I do want a defense light as an EDC. In fact more flood light is more functional for a defense light since it covers more area.

    Nitecore EDC33 (from Google translator): arrived today 2/01/2024 and returned after 2 hours, it's not all positive!
    PRO: 1) incredibly powerful;
    2) fast charging;
    3) pocket-sized.
    AGAINST: 1) the lighting sequence is incomprehensible or doesn't work, it switches from maximum to ultra low without intermediate steps (it's a new product, there may be something to review);
    2) it heats up too quickly and being small forces you to hold it from the end with just your fingers and use it with two hands (it cannot be used as a tactical torch);
    3) the power button causes too much resistance on the second click and it is not possible to use it holding the flashlight with only one hand, especially when the flashlight is hot because the hand has to slide backwards and to change brightness you need to use two hands;
    4) it's shameful that it doesn't come with a case, it has a strap that's useless (low-grade gadget).
    Final judgement: powerful but unmanageable.

    My issue with nitecore is that they produce tons of heat really quick and within seconds it's stepping down... Stepping down due to thermal condition is normal and some manufacturers do a good job with that and some are terrible... what good is 4000 lm of you can only enjoy it for 30 seconds at a time! No thanks I'll pass on NC.

    The best EDC light is the MT10C in your video. I dare to challenge any flashlight company to show me a comparable light with similar output, similar size, tail stand capability, the fantastic UI and a built-in red LED. The EDC33 is much brighter of course but with the current design flaws there is no way I would even consider this to replace my MT10C.

    • @LV-42617
      @LV-42617 5 месяцев назад

      @@jonathancaldentey4615 The UI is one if not the best I have ever seen on a flashlight. Instant access to turbo, low (red) and strobe is what any flashlight should offer but most do not. The beam pattern is excellent, a great mix of flood and throw. The HT10C might not look so impressive on paper but once you encounter it in the flesh, you'll love it.
