Looking at the 2023 Shimano Power Aero TD and I wonder is there any advantage to using this surf reel on a good 10 footer, versus just a regular Stradic or Twin Power ~6000 size? TIA!
Hi there! Thought we'd jump in and try help with this question. The advantage of using a reel like the Power Aero over a conventional spin reel like the Stradic would be vastly increased casting distance due to the oversized, long cast spool design and slow oscillation which gives perfect line lay on the spool. Hope this helps! - Team Shimano NZ
@@shimanofishing_nz Thank you for responding, I appreciate it. I am definitely a fan of the slow oscillation worm tech and I absolutely love it on my Twin Power FEs. It’s not often that we need to cast very far (south coast of Australia here), but it certainly feels compelling to explore those waters beyond my normal 60-70m reach. It’s slightly better if the winds are favourable.. So thats where the question is coming from, as I often find the wind to be a challenge to really get out there. Appreciate the rod also has a pretty big impact here

@Chad - why do you prefer the fluorcarbon for the droppers? Backbone makes sense as its stiff.
