    I am annoyed at seeing comments saying “they should have just ignored the instructions and jumped out” they were high school students, they didn’t know what was happening outside, they believed that the government would save them and by the time they made up their minds to get off, it was already too late, the ship has tilted so much you can’t even climb to the top, they broke their fingernails trying trying to open the windows to climb out. Do you think they want to die there? Stop saying what they could have did, and let’s honor them, the 304 deaths, most of them could have graduated by now. I hope they are happy now

      @Dani Masterson Girl, you're so stupid. "it’s also 100% the parent’s teaching that led those other kids to safety", It is not the parent's job to get those kids to safety. They have entrusted their children in the hands of the captain as they couldn't be there for them. Those children who died tried their best to survive, it was just too late and it's not the parent's fault that their children trusted the one who is in charge.

      It was actually a pretty common thing because it was a very short distance to a very close island. It was a kind of boat trip so frequent that it was least expected to experience catastrophe.. but it happened, and it revealed just how under-prepared and inexperienced emergency services were, institutionally or in terms of infrastructure and resources. Undermanned, under-powered, clueless, inefficient, slow, hindered by bureaucratic miscommunication, not enough local agency and initiative.

    • @OnyxRadio
      @OnyxRadio 4 года назад +10

      It’s hardly unreasonable, how would you think that this kind of incident would happen, and would be so poorly handled? You would presume the captain would evacuate passengers first. Boat incidents aren’t that common, if they were to just avoid everything because of possible accidents, you could never drive, never fly a plane, never take a ship. The only people who should be blamed are the crew for their irresponsibility and neglect, the maintenance/engineers, and the government who failed to rescue them.

    anyone saying “they should have ignored the captain” doesn’t understand stand their culture. In Korea if someone older than you tells you to do something you do it with no refusal, they are taught that from birth so ofc they are going to follow that captains orders to stay because they thought he know what he was doing and was gonna help them

    • @TimberlakeTigerGirl
      @TimberlakeTigerGirl 5 месяцев назад

      We understand the culture, we are just calling it out for being bs. There should be no shame in teenagers following their instincts and looking for an escape route despite what the captain said because clearly he was a fool and a coward since he escaped first.
      Look, it's one thing for kids to obey their parents and their elders in ordinary circumstances. But when disaster strikes and lives are on the line, kids should be educated that if the situation is dire enough and there are no adults around, they have to look after themselves. That they need to do whatever it takes to survive even if it means not listening to supposed authority figures because they are not always right. If those children had ignored the orders and got out on their own, many of them would still be alive today.

      킴 아리아나Kim Ariana How would you know that the little girl doesn’t care about her sibling’s death, that’s awful to assume. Also the victims were just kids; in Asia you are brought up to respect and obey elders and authority, its a cultural thing. The captain and crew told them to stay put and that rescue was coming, if you have no knowledge of something and someone with supposed knowledge told you to do something you most likely would obey and not do rash actions. These poor kids trusted their words and the captain was one of the first to abandon the ship.

    Imagine them who already died and was kept a secret by the goverment and the captain was not yet to be convicted but when all came out,I see some people blame the kids,"Oh,they died because they too stupid to not jump off the boat.If they're smart enough,they would have survived."
    No shit,Sherlock.So what do u get by saying that in public where more than a hundred of the children's family can see???Do u expect all of them to congratulate your opinion abt their lost one,where they fought to get their COPRSE back.
    And some comments,"If only you taught your child abt safety maybe they would still be in ur arms."
    Really??The so called professional that had done jobs and they ditched children who were TAUGHT TO FOLLOW ORDERS,to....die...They're young children and they were on a field trip.They were supposed to follow the one's who are older orders.For example the teachers,and the so called professional captain and crew...
    You want to tell me you think it's the parent's fault.None of them knew their children are going on board with people who would let them die without hesitation!!But none of you blame the ones they knew that the children will die if they don't come rescue them but they decide to leave..
    If you really think this a debate where oh,there's always both sides at fault...then you are the worst human being possible.....
    Having opinions in a matter that is hurful is something, but not respecting the families of the dead that more than a hundred children died is absolutely outrageous..

    The kids were so innocent. They believed their elders as most Asians look up and listen to their elders. The selfish fucking captain that lived a whole life didn’t even tell them

  • @ainowa43ver

    as an Asian, I(we) were raised to always respect and obey what the elders say. We could never question the elders decision since THEY ARE OLDER means THEY KNOW MORE than us younger. I understand the part that the students obeyed what the captain said instead of disobeying them. Of course we'll trust the crew because they know what was happening! The students complied with the order of just STAYING PUT in their places as their ship sank, trusting, believing and hoping that they'll be saved by the elders. It wasn't their fault that it was TOO late when they realize they're on their own now since those damned crews decided to abandon them. It wasn't their fault that they putted trust on what they believe that'll be their saviour. It was truly heart breaking and I hope all of them are in better place now❤️❤️

    • @TimberlakeTigerGirl

      No disrespect but maybe that attitude should change considering that's ultimately what got these kids killed. Hear me out; it's one thing to obey your parents, older siblings and other elder relatives. And it's important to listen to your teachers and mentors. But in a situation like this it should be important to teach your children that they need to make their own choices. That in a disaster scenario where they need to get out, the children need to understand that sometimes the adults may not be making the correct decisions. That when it comes down to it, even if an adult is telling them to stay put, if there is a window of escape, take it. Children and especially teenagers need to be taught that adults aren't always going to be around to save them and that they need to take their fate into their own hands.
      I am in no way blaming the children for their deaths. But if they had ignored the captains order to stay put and rallied together to find an escape, then the death toll could of been lower. There should be no shame in a teenager or a child following their instincts and looking for an escape even if the adults order them to stay put.
