What does the numbers after the locations name mean. Is it a set of location missions, or does it tell how many missions you have in each locations?

whenever I access my fleet it just goes straight to a screen that asks me to either salvage for gemstones or add more docking space.

Then you either savage or keep them. If your ships are the best fighting high leveled it can be (well when you hunt for powerful ships) than salvage. But if ur new then bring them
