I think the mistake Honda made for the US market was the limiting 125cc, it may work on backroads to to be an all around runabout it needs to make 60-65 mph here in the US. That would have made it more utility for folks. If it were 150-160cc it would have been much better. I had a monkey for a while with the same 125cc engine and it was fun on trails and backroads but to get to them it was underpowered and even with mods I could only get it to maintain 55mph
Very cool my buddy had one I was growing up. It would be cool to see this in Baja. I think one will fit in my truck with ease. Thanks for your great content.
Nice. I live in CA as well. We have very aggressive drivers in this state. What's your opinion for "around town " driving? In Sacramento, everyone drives 20 mph over the posted speed limit. Can this thing keep up with traffic? Sunrise Blvd, drivers average highway speeds. Can this thing move 50 to 60 mph? Or should I look at the Supercub?
@@bermcannonk Hey thanks for the reply. I've asked this question on half a dozen other channels. Not one answer. Hell, one channel made fun of my question. 😟
yeah I still havent made up my mind between an onyx or the trail 125. Good thing about the honda is you know itll go forever, you wont have any problems registering it at the dmv and youd be able to ride with traffic at 35 mph. Im leaning towards the honda but man who even has them in stock? ive contacted nearly every dealer in Socal
Great little bike, one that makes me ponder trading the wife's Grom for something more practical as our in town rig. E-bike comment is on point. Honda is behind the curve as Yamaha has already released their E-bike & KTM is out front as well with theirs.
Soon the cancel everything fun in So Cal will kick e bikes off the trails and beach. You’ll have to trailer them out to the 4 square miles of riding area not covered in solar panels
Just keep living in your parents basement for another 6 months, and it is paid for. Besides, being 30, is probably a good time to quit wincing about your life, and your finances, and get to work.
Basically the same motor as the Monkey and Grom. For next year the Monkey and Grom will go from a 4sp to a 5 speed manual gearbox with a clutch. If Honda would make a CT125 model that included that Manual 5 speed gearbox as an option I think it would open up the amount of people that may be interested. The CT125 overall is a much more attractive sized and styled platform for an older aged base of customer than the monkey bike or Grom. But the manual gearbox option would make the CT125 more trail/adventure bike capable as would the even better gear closer ratios of the upcoming new 5 speed gearbox. Honda has the parts already there in the parts bin to make the manual gearbox model and if they did so while maintaining the current price point they could sell all they could make in my opinion. Honda even knew back in the early 70's it was a good idea to have both a manual and auto clutch model on the CT70!
I just got one, having fun!
Looks like a lot of fun to me.

You could carry an e bike on the Trail 125 rack

exactly, the price is the problem... wtf 4K!!, very cool, but to much money...
What would you pay for it then? I think with a 100-200 dollar discount that is a fair price point.
