I have loved this music since I was 16 in 1958, when I met Brubeck for the first time in North Great River, Long Island. We went backstage after the concert. My mother, who chaperoned me, told him I played his music 16 hours a day (a slight exaggeration). Dave said, "he didn't think he could listen to his own music 16 hours a day..."
Actually the last bars of Audrey are a quote from Balcony Rock. I've never been able to find out who composed this little thleme--Brubeck or Desmond--but they used it as a tag many times, Audrey was just one of those times.

Crazy part is that he would die a day short of his 92nd birthday…
And now the patriarch has gone too... to join his pal in the jazz heaven. Thankfully we still have a lot of their music with us...
