  • Wolfgang Jellinghaus Alemana EF guitar demonstration.
In 1989, Matthias Dammann built the first so-called double top guitar, by using two tops and putting a honeycomb patterned material called Nomex in the middle. The reduction in weight lead to a significant increase in volume.
Making guitars in this way means the soundboard is made of a little under 2mm of wood, making it incredibly light. The lattice bracing that supports the soundboard means the top is still stiff. This combination makes for a very dynamic guitar.
The Alemana EF is based on Matthas Dammann’s lattice design, bringing tone and projection to a fine concert guitar made by Wolfgang Jellinghaus.
