8:46 I think you missed the reference. There was a game show called "Who Wants to be a Millionaire" during which the contestants were asked multiple choice questions until they got one wrong. They had a few different "lifelines" that they could use to help when they were stuck, one of which was "phone a friend." One guy made it to the last question and used his "phone a friend" to call his dad. Instead of reading the question and asking for help he said "hey dad, I don't really need your help, I just called to say I'm going to win the million dollars" and then gave the correct answer.

I wouldn’t say that “innit” (short for “isn’t it?”) is always equivalent of “desu” (“is”) but desu sometimes serves the same purpose in context. I would say a closer equivalence would be to “ne?” Both are basically semi-rhetorical questions that presume agreement (“I know, right?”).

In Japanese, verbs come at the end of the sentence, so it would be something like [John] [fast] [is] (not including the various modifiers the language uses). While 'desu ka' would be more accurate due to 'innit' being phrased as a question, the two are used in almost the exact same way

2:24 let me tell you a little secret… lightly toast 2 slices of bead, put as many sausages as you can easily fit on one of the slices, then add ketchup or whatever sauce you usually have with sausages, nothing is also fine, then put the other slice of toast on top, and you now have a delicacy called “sausages on toast” you don’t need to toast the bread if you don’t want to, it’s just to make the bread slightly crunchy and more stable so it’s easier to eat and it can’t fall apart
I always make extra sausages whenever I make them so I can have sausages on toast with the leftovers. It’s surprisingly filling despite being so small, really tasty, and you can have as many as you want since they’re easy to make - bread (toasted if you want), sausage, preferred condiment/s, other bread. Best way to eat sausages imo

Never played it myself, but I've heard the player base can be pretty toxic. Like, suggesting you unalive yourself if you're bad at the game, etc.

      Yeah.
Played one match. People told me to defend the core, so I defended the core.
We lost the match and they blamed me for 'doing nothing', except I, as a newbie (and told them I was a newbie), was just doing the job they gave me.
Left the game, uninstalled, never went back. If that's how my FIRST match went? It's not for me.
The worst part is, they gave me that role knowing I was an AMBUSH character with very little health.

So for everyone thinking drinking horse electrolytes is grose or unhealthy, first animal food must follow some fda standards to be safe for human consumption, because so many people accidently killed themselves during the great depression eating oet food that it became a governmental problem. Plus most horse food is human food in different shapes and serving portions that many human unironicly eat and buy horse treats and food to eat themselves. This has been fun facts!

Teacher here! We had D.E.A.R time every day when I taught elementary school in NE Ohio. Kindergarten through 8th grade, students were supposed to get 30 to 45 minutes of time to read a book of their choice. Usually, this is also when we had snack. Students were encouraged to also try out different genres of literature and collect at least 5 through the year. We also had D.E.A.W time wherein students had 30 minutes to work on their writing. That was a bit more structured; depending on your age and the time of the year, you might be working on a "How To" book, a narrative, an argumentative essay, a fairy tale, historical fiction, etc.

I remember my class had a DEAR on school schedule when I was in 5th grade, they would dim the lights just enough and play music for focusing. Cool to hear that it's still a thing. Thank you for the share, hearing from perspectives like this is very interesting to me and I love to hear about these kind of situations.
(I hope the rest of the current school year goes well you and your students, by the way, after Winter Break ends of course.)

2:50 Dude, that one about wearing the same thing is so true. I’m tall so it’s already hard to find clothes that fit. A while back I discovered that Dickies has a tall people line. I ordered a couple black t-shirts for work, but I loved them so much I wore them outside of work. Then I decided to only wear these, actually really quality t-shirts, and ordered 7 more….then about 6 months later I ordered more so I can have a fresh t-shirt everyday and only do laundry once every two weeks.
So yeah, it’s been about 3 years that I wear the exact same thing every day: black Dickies tall t-shirt and charcoal grey Dickies shorts. I fucking love it.🤣🤷🏼‍♂️

11:37 Easiest solution: Keep it simple. No lunch. Snack only. Chex Mix is a personal fave (better if home-made), but you can do trail mix, a small bowl of chips, some fresh fruit, one slice of garlic bread... Whatever you choose, make sure it's not a lot. Just enough to tide you over to dinner. And make sure it's a fairly bog-standard thing with not a lot of complexity. Same with the 'lunch' drink- have yourself water or fruit juice, but no soda. Dinner is when you have the fancy drinks like spiced apple cider with orange slices or lemon-lime soda mixed with fruit compote (literally just fruit in a fruity syrup).
