The thing that bothers me the most, is what are the Rangers doing? To clarify this, they trade Trouba, put out the memo that they will be willing to trade veterans, so to me that signals a rebuild, however not even a few hrs after Trouba was traded, Drury signed Igor to an 8yr/11.5 mil dollar contact with a Full NMC. Now they trade Kakko, a young and upcoming player for them who not been the problem for pennies on the dollar. The lack of direction is what's concerning me the most. To be honest, the way Drury is handling this isln my opinion is poor. So are the Rangers rebuilding?, are they retooling on the fly?, are they still believing that the team can win a cup?. No sense of direction, and until they make a solid decision, this organization will be in constant influx.
@@nyr4life that’s the reason Drury keeps his cards close to his chest. Don’t forget he is GlennSathers protégé. Also Schneider, Miller, Jones, cuylle, chytl, Laffy, berard, Edstrom how is it over the years all these kids became steady in the lineup and have been filtered through our system and are doing well, except for Kakko..he had 5 yrs it just didn’t work out for him
@iceman1599 I can understand that Drury likes to keep his cards to his chest, but that's not what he is doing. He put out a league wide memo saying they are open for business (Kreider, Trouba)..etc. I applaud Drury for getting out of Trouba 8 mil contract, and when he put out the memo saying pretty much no one is untouchable, than that signals to me that the organization has lost trust with the core and should rebuild, what I am perfectly fine with. However, not even a mere 3hrs later he signs Igor to a massive 8yr/11.5 mil contract with a Full NMC. To me that signing completely contradicts the league wide memo he put out. So what direction are they going down now, because they are clearly not good enough to win the SC, but I don't think they are bad enough to be getting high draft picks. I think Drury and Company should make 1 decision. Do they rebuild, retool, or think the core is good enough to win.
@@nyr4life yes but, he dumped goodrow & signed Laffy.. He dumped Trouba & signed Shesty.. he is doing what he can to keep a core of a team together. Not a fan of $11.5 for a goalie who only plays 55 games a yr, but I guess Drury believes in Shesty. I think Drury is trying to keep the team together, but put some additional parts in there hopefully to fix it. I don’t believe he’s trying to blow up the team.
Rangers are not rebuilding, they have too many star players still in their prime to tear it all down. And Kakko is a bust at this point, it is what it is, shit happens. The Lias Andersson pick in 2017 was terrible though, considering you could have picked Villardi, Necas, Suzuki, Middlestadt, Robert Thomas or Owen Tippett. Anyway, I think the plan is to trade a 1st rounder for a rental and sign a UFA next summer with the money saved on trading Trouba. Even when the Rangers tanked 6-7 years ago, the rebuild was very quick since they were able to get Panarin and Adam Fox for basically peanuts. NY is just that special market that can't really rebuild because of the expectations and the pull it has on UFA looking to cash in on the money and fame this city brings.
@@vinceslapchopper Kratsov Anderson?? The previous administration picked Garbage players. who would pick Anderson??. The guy never scored more than 12 points and he gets picked seventh in the first round. What a crack of shit that was. Glad they got fired
Players can absolutely be deterred. Any true competitor will have no desire to play with this group of malcontents. That's how you start to attract players only showing up for a paycheck. That's how you end up with a team full of Valeri Kamensky's, Sylvain Lefebvre's and Marcel Hossa's. That's where this is headed.
yeah players have goldfish memory, Rangers will still have the pick of the litter when it comes to signing UFAs every summer. Salary cap is the only thing restricting the team at this point.
This guy talks out of both sides of his mouth first, he’s saying it was wrong the way went down, but then he’s saying its part of the business that Drury is doing.. So tired of hearing this garbage this is a business OK and fans pay thousands and thousands and thousands of dollars for seats to watch their team play. Not they sit back and strike like they think their dockworkers.

"Theyre(rangers) there to win stanley cups every year".. checks how many cups in how many years n how long since 1994
I still can't understand that take, the people pushing it clearly underestimate the pull of an original six team and being in NY.

Can Drury, clearly doesn’t know what he’s doing. Not cut out to be a GM.
