This is Russia. It is something else. My friend played there for two years and I have heard the same stories. Even day before home game, the players stay in a hotel with security so they don't get drunk. All the vitamins and stuff, true stories. But there are few teams who play in KHL who are not in Russia, mainly the only western team Jokerit in Finland. It is a whole new world. Everything is legal and well operated like expected. Like all leagues is Western Europe are. Finnish Liiga, SHL in Sweden, Swiss League, German league... All operating as expected.
I played golf with Josh McGratton. At the time he was home from playing in Russia. If you look up tough in the dictionary, there would be a picture of him. What a great guy. He didn't tell any stories but you knew he was for real. I hope he is well. Even on the golf course I was ready to turtle. Lol.
That team's name is "Vityaz" (Витязь) and back in the days, it was based in Checkhov, Moscow Region. I remember the time when Jeremy, Mirasty, Gratton were playing for Vityaz and that game with Avangard when almost the whole team got 5+20. P.S. I used to live in that town :-) Good times, the owner's name was Николай Павлинов (Nikolai Pavlinov), he's serving a time now for some kind of big-time money laundry scheme

The CFL can be a bit more 'exciting' with 3 downs, unlimited WR motion, high scoring affairs. But it is not a superior game. The Rouge needs to go. The goal posts need to be backed up to the 21st century not kept in the 18th. The spin-the-wheel QB game every offseason. Well, the NFL has that this year, but it's a first.

Like I played football even at a small college I'd have meals at nice places paid for, "money handshakes", I can even remember a kid I had coached who was recruited by Oregon giving him $25k in Nike gear then his trip to Michigan where he committed got another $25k in jump man gear and this is a 18 year old getting this mind you, had some friends from Reynoldsburg, Ohio who knew a few top Michigan State running backs who got a couple thousand, yeah its not foreign but also not like mob run as you see here.
