I’ve seen countless “Top 5 Greatest Guitarists of All Time” lists throughout my life and never ONCE was this man man mentioned. What he does with a guitar is nothing short of magical. Shame he’s not on more lists but I’m happy WE get to listen to his music today 🙂
He is a consummate Master of the Guitar. The depth, tone, attack, unique ideas done on the fly, plus uncommon beauty of harmony on display every time he picks up the guitar is Bonfa.
According to the books, Bonfá came from lowly origins. He used to go through huge distances to get classes with Isaías Sávio and due to this, Isaías did not charge him for the classes.
Such skill, devotion, polish, conception and invisaging of a resulting performance gives us one of such quality, beyond any category, of complete joy and appreciation. Superb.
Luiz Bonfá shows his wizardry at impersonating an entire percussion section on the first tune, then plays the hell out of "Tenderly", and sings Manha de Carnival in this collection of video clips.

Dude I know he’s a master at his craft and everything he does is nothing less than magic tbh but how in the world did he do that at 3:25. When he shakes his entire hand super fast as he strums technically. Sounds so coooollll
I definitely received some inspiration through this man beautiful playing. I’m more of a “progressive metal” guitar player but Luiz Bonfá has converted me to bossa nova haha I still enjoy playing metal though, he’s just opened up my eyes to how great Brazilian guitar is.

The most underrated guitarist
Wow!
Yeah there’s a lot of great guitar players but this guy is on a whole other plane
Musica antiga brasileira tinha muita elegância e simplicidade.
Sem igual.
Complete mastery of the instrument - absolute perfection.
fico triste com a falta de brasileiros
pra vc ver..
you didn’t have to cut me off..
Is it called Seville the one that gotye sampled can find it to buy on iTunes 😔
Wundervoll.
