Yeah, I loved it too, but with the way the alien parasites were in the anime, I really didn't think it would translate well to live action. Especially with the relatively low budgets in Asian film production. Sometimes something like Godzilla Minus One shows you can do something amazing for surprisingly little budget, but there's only so far you can go with that.

In defence of the p0lice chief, as a writer you really should understand dramatic irony. You went into that situation as the audience knowing everything as a fact of the story. Up until that point he had no knowledge or concept of them, even when people did bad things they were still people to him. If he was not the type of person who thought about things like fantasy and aliens then everything she was saying was being rationalised in a manner that made them still human. I would even say knowing all that people would be hard pressed to disassociate them from being human when they weren't attacking.

8:00 the way they're supposed to work (haven't seen the show, read the manga) is they eat the head, take its place and learn everything from scratch. So the language would be based on their environment rather than what the host knew.

"Parasyte" overall is exceedingly similar in theme to the 1970's "Invasion of the Body Snatchers" movie (which was a remake of a 50's movie of the same name which was based on the fear of communists hiding amongst the population... which ironically turned out to be true after all.)
Anyway, the plants of "Body Snatchers" also just blast off from alien planets they've taken over and float around, hoping to land on a new fertile planet to take over. Once they consume the original human, they produce a duplicate that acts coldly and unemotionally, just like the Parasyted humans.

21:43 The alien has a limited time to infect a host before maturation and once mature it can longer spread. This is demonstrated in the og/Maxim story through Migi(main character's parasyte) being relegated to an arm, the first parasyte they encounter being in a dog and thus unable to transition to a human and later primarily through the mouth parasyte whom was unable to take control as the moment he infected his host he had to save him from death.

Though I imagine there wasn't much effort done in researching the hosts they're taking. Let's just overpower them, eat them, then move on with our plans...

tbh the explanation of time limit and language is all in the anime and manga , think of these thing like the thing but it can only replicate certain part of the host once during the larvae phase (if you got brain then you got all knowledge and memorie too ) after the process is done ,it is done . No take back , it can expend part of itself to heal the host but that would make their energy level very low and needing to enter regenerative sleep all the time . Tbf it can jump body by cutting the head off and replace the head but the biomass is still need to be theirs and jump body didnt help heal lost biomass. In the clerk case i think its partial takeover and basically merge their brain together since this parasite is capable of developing empathy immediately while in anime it took more than a year of motherhood for one to develop empathy .

26:15 Well that tells me you haven't watched the episode where Shinichi technically dies then. Because if you had then you will know Migi shortly after had to do a large amount of maintenance on Shinichi for his body to recover and survive for how severe his injury was.
And that ended with a double edge sword. The pros, He was kept alive and kicking, more than that he is now has the physical prowess of athletes in every regard. But the downside, Migi wouldn't be there to help him consistently so he'll need to sleep for at least four hours and Shinichi wouldn't know where a Parasyte would be. While at the same time, they'll know exactly where he is.

Its been so long since I saw the anime that I really enjoyed watching this one. Turns out its an adaptation/sequelish kinda thing with Shinichi even showing up at the very end so I started rewatching the anime to prepare for what might come next.
This show does feel a bit too rushed though, the anime takes things slow and gives enough time for you to understand how the parasites slowly have to learn themselves how the world works with some growing different personalities.
Netflix has been weird with these 6 episode K dramas. Usualy K dramas are good because they spend like 3 episodes just setting the stage before telling the main story but things got so rushed here. Rewatching the anime makes it feel like the Anime was that entire backstory you need to understand this show at times.
For the show itself, I kind of like the differing progression on this one with some later episodes explaining the Grey task force was created because of more public parasite attacks happening in Korea compared to Japan where it was more like a string of serial killers making them more of a mystery.
Unfrotunatley things with the parasites themselves wasent expanded on very much on this version since one of the methods for finding parasites was checking their hair which even in the original anime sounded a bit foolish since they're dealing with creatures that can split you open in less then a second from being that close. There was also a couple plot points that just felt straight ripped from the anime instead of progressing into its own thing with how things unfolded in Korea.

So minor worldbuilding notes and possible spoilers so don't read if you want to watch the anime or read the manga than do so before reading this.
Things we know. When a person is infected by a parasyte, the new being created takes some time before it begins to communicate probably and move normally. The first episode of the anime shows them watching TV, reading books and so on to learn words and human mouth movements and everything else they could need. If a parasyte fails to reach the brain than it is a failure but they can still survive and can live alongside their host. Although when this happens the parasyte is far more limited than their brethren in terms of morphing. They are also rather simple creatures and ANY threat to their life by their host and they will kill you as they're very logical thinkers. One of the things to note is that parasytes do not understand human emotions or humanity in general and work purely on logic and statistics. They also can infect animals BUT they don't because that is a failure to them which the first episode of anime explains. Once a parasyte has failed to reach the brain, they can not relocate or attempt to reach the brain again. Humans are their primary target and than their origin is complete mystery. We have no idea whether they are an alien species or just some engineered creature that was spread here on earth. I hope they don't even attempt it, it doesn't need explaining.
Final note that I'm confused on but by the end of parasyte it is quite clear that we humans know how to spot a parasyte which is as simple as pulling out a hair and the other fact is that parasytes went into hibernation by the end of the Manga/anime and I'm sure Migi says they will never wake again. Than again this might be another batch seeing as how it's in a different country but you think Japan would inform the rest of the world on everything they learned.

0:33 Being honest I enjoy The Grey more so than the og story though admittedly it may be bias due to seeing The Grey first then going back and watching The Maxim. My initial thoughts on The Grey weren't exactly good because of the stupid hamfisted "kill humans" environmentalism message but at least that's only a brief moment and widely forgotten as opposed to killing the momentum of the story in the latter half as the og or at least The Maxim did. Aside from that I honestly liked the characters a bit better though I do think Hiedi awoke to more human feelings or at least seemed to a bit too quickly but it's not a long show so I can forgive that.

alteori, your japanese is quite good, intonation-wise :p
but yeah, i watched in korean, but the story is still meh.
i used to like the original manga, but other adaptations including the anime are far from it.

There are live action Parasyte movies that do a much better job than the Netflix show that you should check out.

Alteori, keep in mind in the anime in comparison to the live action show. The Parasytes started out as grisly murders that no one can explain. So, them being hunted down took almost a year for the government to take action.
As for in the live action series, since the Parasyte already killed a large number of people with enough eye witnesses for their government to act faster on the situation.
So these "Idiotic moments" you were claiming can be brushed off as them not completely being accustomed to the world they live in.
Also in the anime, it is made clear their personality is monotone just simply because they can't properly express themselves. Remember, these beings rely on survival in the basic way possible. That's how they function. It takes them about a year to properly obtain some semblance of what we call as "humanity" so something tells me, you only watched about 10 episodes since you admitted you never finished it. And I'm guessing you never gotten to these plot points yet.
Well, let me give you some motivation on watching the anime. Keep going up until episode 18 and you will have a highlight of the series.

Live Action just can't hold a candle to the Anime. Too many "creative changes", too many self-inserts, and too much political messaging for "modern audiences". The Anime was great on it's own, and that's what it should remain.

I read the manga when it first came to the states, and it was really good. And one of those rare few that finishes the story. I recommend it. This show... Has potential, but certain characters are just SO dumb that it took me out of it.

About that phone in the begging
I think it's just that the production needed people to be holding stuff they would have in raves so they just got random things for people to have in that scene one being a weird toy phone

      @elyrienvalkyr8167 Месяц назад

It's a phone case... it's so painfully clearly a phone case designed to look like an old nokia-like phone. It's the back of her phone. You can see the 4 camera lenses and a flashlight.
Like phones have. Because it's a phone...
