I loved this, and the only thing I'd change is having at least one guaranteed good damaging move per mon, just getting to choose one attack would make it much more viable to actually battle with
Maybe a random physical, a random special, a random same type, and a random status effect move per mon
roll ~10 moves to make its moveset and pick four?
@@ruludos1977 I think this would be the best compromise.
Even just increasing the odds and giving each mon 3 random moves and 1 guaranteed STAB would be nice. There's so much that has to go right to get an even slightly workable moveset
They should roll six random TMs - that would give some control
Conceptually I love this. It’d be really cool to maybe see a whole rom hack where every pokemon in the game is replaced by one of these, maybe if I can actually find motivation I’ll try and learn to do it
that would be immense work for one person
Missed opportunity to call the last fella “WATT am I”
I would maybe generate base stats like “give me six random numbers from 5 to 255 that add up to X” and you can make x whatever you want to change the difficulty.
This is exactly the kind of nonsense challenge that brought me to your channel in the first place.
Also, "conjure something from your stolen thoughts" may be the best LLM prompt I've ever seen.
This was way more fun than it should have been. Thank you so much for doing it and letting us watch!
I’d love to see a part 2 to this!
This was one of my favorite videos in a long time! Please do more of this, it was hilarious!
I love how this is pure chaos. I'd change nothing on this concept.
Absolutely love the concept! Maybe you could get a set of numbers for stats per Pokemon but assign them to a specific stat for your generated one as you wish? Or omit Pokemon who are below a total BST of ... 200 or something? I know that may take some of the pure randomness out of it, but might make things more viable.
This is actually a super neat concept, especially with actually creating and modding the generated Pokemon into a game. It would be cool to see this again!
This was such a fun video! Love the concept, and I think it'd be great to see some more of this type of stuff. Plus, the sprites were adorable.
What am I? did so much better than I expected! Truly a titan, what a great pile of staticky sand. (Also the sprites were charming, even What am I? is ugly-cute)
Definitely make this a series lol maybe try every champion. This was very fun
Honestly if this is your first try with sprite art it's a pretty good attempt, the shading works in particular ended up working pretty well.
I think having a guaranteed stab move on each mon would be a nice thing so your team actually had a chance. I love the chaos of the Pokemon and their stats though.
This was such a unique video and you obviously put effort into the vid! Ive missed you ETU
Great idea, wonder if it would be more fun if you asked chat gpt to generate moveset based type so it may be more usable
This was so much fun to watch, please do this again until you win
The moves are what killed it.
Maybe you should have rolled for one or two Pokémon that match the type(s) and pick the moves from the STAB and status moves from their learn set.
The Trapinch thing made me laugh 😆
This is one of the funniest videos ive watched in a long while. Between Chatgbt being Chatgbt and how bad these purely randomized mons ended up being, it was great. But by far the the sprites made the video. Id love to see more of these.
Damn, how did you get acess to Gen 10 Pokemons? 😆
I also think this is really cool. Lots of suggestions already in the chat, I'll just add my idea is to generate a little more than necessary then pick what you want. For example, maybe generate 6 moves and 2 abilities per mon then choose the 4 moves and the ability you want
It would buffer a little against totally useless party members without having too much of a safety net like guaranteeing one good attacking move or something like that (I wouldn't hate that either but I get the vibe that the chance of getting nothing makes it more fun for you, which same here)
This is such an amazing idea. You might need to draw the line and have a "rule of 2": at least 2 attacks have to end up being attack moves. Granted chatgpt kinda sucks generating numbers so rerolling could be bad.
Actually, a better idea is to have chat GPT pick a number between 1 and 4 and that's the number of attacking moves.
I say keep doing this exactly as is and see how long it takes to get a somewhat viable team
Unown you have to bring back that AI writes Ash’s story. Now with ChatGPT being a thing maybe the story will be better this time. Loved that series.
Maybe next time, you generate a whole move pool (8-12 moves you can pick from), and maybe two abilities for each Pokemon. Gives you a slightly better chance at getting something useful out of it.
Enjoyed the concept, be glad to see more. Maybe set up so the team have Base Stat Totals and the AI divides out the stats? Give each member one guaranteed STAB attacking move? Definitely ways to balance it.
Always nice to see you upload!
Awesome idea! Would love to see more of these, maybe with don’t put-in place safety nets. Like, maybe once per Pokémon you get a free thing you can change. Like the Spritzee’s Atk but Blaziken’s SpDef Pokémon have have the stat sources swapped.
I want a rematch where you choose reasonable attacks based on the stats/typing/animal.
Also maybe restrict some abilities. It's weird for a non-grass type to get Overgrow
This was fun. I wouldn't change anything. The randomness is the fun of the thing and sometimes you just get bad luck. I found your sprites charming in their ugliness and absolutely loved the crawdad. :D
'and luckily, it's pretty fast, TWENTY speed' love your delivery, good video!
I really love the concept! But it probably would've been better to use an online random number generator. GPT isn't really good at randomness, despite its reputation.
18:59 "We're in a bad position now" NOW?
I absolutely loved this. Very funny content and another very unique approach to the game. Glad to see you back again. There is no one I enjoy watching more doing Pokémon content.
A good way to make the challenge more fair could be generating all the Pokémon with types and stats like you did and then rolling moves one by one deciding whom to give them to, same with abilities. Would add strategic depth. Do you go with a move or ability for your good Pokémon or wait and hope for a better one? Probably go with abilities first so you can make use of abilities like overgrow when considering moves.
I really really want to see this concept continued
This would be cool in a setting where you had a tiny bit more agency over it. Say, choose another random pokemon to determine how many moves it learns (i.e 1 with delibird, or 10 with smeargle) and learn that many random moves. Then you can pick from its learnset, as if you were training that pokemon up for the final battle. It would still maintain the randomness but give a higher chance of having something to work with
Absolutely love this, could see this being a huge series, I do think you should get to reroll at least 2 moves per pokemon due to the chance of getting 0 attacking moves, either way great video
This feels like it would be an amazing series.
This was a great watch
How about something like this two different prompts:
We are making a team of imaginary Pokemon for Generation 3, I will ask you to "Generate a new Pokemon", you will answer with a non-existing Pokemon in the following format:
Name: The name of the Pokemon
Description: How does the pokemon look?
Dex Entry: A Pokedex Entry for this Pokemon
Typing: The Typing of the Pokemon, (Except Fairy)
Base Stats:
- HP: A number between 1 and 255
- ATK: A number between 1 and 255
- DEF: A number between 1 and 255
- SP.ATK: A number between 1 and 255
- SP.DEF: A number between 1 and 255
- SPEED: A number between 1 and 255
Abilities:
- Ability 1
- Ability 2
- Ability 3
Learnset:
- A List of 10 random moves the Pokemon learns by level up, Generation 3 moves.
- A list of 10 random HM/TM moves the Pokemon can learn
and then you can do
Using this format,
Item: Pokemon's item
Ability: Pokémon's ability.
Nature IVs EVs: Nature, followed by IVs (often abbreviated) and EVs.
Moveset: Four moves separated by commas.
Create a competitive build for Gen3(ADV) for the following fan made pokemon:
Name: Terragrow
Description: A large, quadrupedal Pokémon resembling a living tree. Its bark is tough and rugged, while its leaves are vibrant green. It has a thick, wooden trunk and branches that resemble arms.
Dex Entry: Terragrow are ancient Pokémon that have lived since the dawn of time. They are said to be the guardians of forests. They are incredibly strong and can manipulate the earth around them.
Typing: Grass/Ground
Base Stats:
HP: 120
ATK: 105
DEF: 110
SP. ATK: 60
SP. DEF: 85
SPEED: 40
Abilities:
Chlorophyll
Sturdy
Arena Trap
Learnset:
Tackle
Growl
Absorb
Razor Leaf
Dig
Strength
Bind
Leech Seed
Synthesis
Earthquake
HM/TM Moves:
Cut
Flash
Rock Smash
Strength
Surf
Waterfall
Dig
Earthquake
Sweet Scent
Protect
Which yields something like this
Terragrow Build
Item: Leftovers
Ability: Sturdy
Nature: Adamant IVs: 31/31/31/0/31/0 EVs: 252 Atk / 252 HP / 4 Def
Moveset: Earthquake, Dig, Leech Seed, Synthesis
Explanation
Terragrow's high HP, Attack, and Defense stats, combined with its Grass/Ground typing, make it a potential physical wall.
Item: Leftovers provides passive HP recovery, essential for a defensive Pokémon.
Ability: Sturdy ensures Terragrow survives a one-hit KO.
Nature: Adamant maximizes Attack for physical damage output.
IVs/EVs: Focus on Attack and HP to increase its survivability and damage dealing potential.
Moveset:
Earthquake: Strong Ground-type STAB move for high damage.
Dig: Provides another powerful Ground-type move with the added benefit of bypassing Protect.
Leech Seed: Drains opponent's HP for gradual recovery.
Synthesis: Restores HP in sunlight, providing additional recovery options.
This build turns Terragrow into a formidable physical wall capable of dealing significant damage and recovering health effectively. The combination of Sturdy, Leftovers, and Leech Seed ensures excellent survivability.
Note: While moves like Razor Leaf and Strength might be tempting, the chosen moveset offers better overall utility and damage potential for this build.
Would you like to explore other builds or discuss potential counters?
Sorry for the WOT
You should do this concept again! This was really fun!
That is an amazing concept, please do more of these! I'm sure you won't have this much bad luck the second time. Surely. That must be impossible lol
Bro made a pseudo legendary with the worst moves possible that's wild
Astaceru and What Am I? are precious and lovely and I love them. (they're quite bad though) This is a great idea, FJ, and I'm a big fan. Would love to see you take another stab at this with a different game or trainer!
Cool concept. I'd recommend just using a standard random number generator for stats, types, etc. That way, you don't have to fight ChatGPT on it. Though I'd happily keep it for telling you the general design of the pokemon.
You shoulda used Feather Dance. The thing about stat changing moves is they operate on percentages, which is why they're so bad when you get them early game, but Feather Dance does something like halve the attack stat of the opponent. You didn't have the stats on anyone to just go for pure offense.
Astaceru is probably the greatest pokemon ever made. I'll take seven
lol this is such a great idea. Just keep doing this until you win. And when you do win move on to the next champion with the same team.
Really fun idea, maybe if you do it again include the chance to reroll moves if you don't get any damaging ones? At least until each mon has something they can hit with, even if it's not very hard
one thing that you could change is to have th AI choose like 10 or more moves, and then you could coose 4 out of these so you would have higher chance of getting something useful
Other than the design this really isn't an Ai creating the Pokemon. Its kinda just a random number generator creates a pokemon than ai gives you a design. I'd love to see a version of this simply asking ai to give you a type and a stat distribution. Then it can give the pokemon more fitting abilities and moves
The animals it chose always made a LOT of sense
someone is going to improve those sprites.
So glad you're back!
I imagine if you had one stab or best stat damaging move on each Pokémon this would be much more doable
would be cool to have it randomly generate one attack for each of its stab types just so they aren't completely useless
Seems like just yesterday when you tried something like this back when AI sucked. I can't wait for this
the design for astaceru looks pretty good actually
Venoris is incredible, I will hear no slander
My first time watching a video of yours you had 48 subs, last tike I saw a vid you had 5k subs. Seems like you're sling well!
Seeing some of the horrible RNG for stats made me audibly cackle, I enjoyed the pain and suffering way too much. A suggestion of not getting ruined by RNG would be to generate moves from the Pokémon that gives you the four highest or lowest stats of the generated mon, whatever you wish. At least that way you would reduce the chances of getting a Pokémon that hits harder than a fly.
I loved this one, maybe you can keep the types and sprites for the team and change the moves, stats and natures. I would love to see a redemption for this team.
Holy moly this is so awful haha.. I absolutely loved it, you should do some designs with drawing commissions haha.. It is such a brilliant idea, the rolls for stat's was hilariously pathetic.
Roll 6 random TMs as well, then you can have a bit of a chance!
You didn't even need AI for this, just random number gens
This is a really neat idea
This is a good concept I love this randomness
You should've used a Mean Look and Perish Song combo.
i think your art was pretty good for a beginner actually, it could use improvement but it's not terrible honestly
Really enjoyable video, would like to see more
I think your designs look great!
I tried making my own Pokémon using your method here’s the result:
Typing: grass
Stats
HP: 100
Atk: 65
Def: 90
Spa: 48
Spd: 30
Spe: 51
Moves:
Slash
Counter
Mist
Pain split
Ability: liquid ooze
Animal: okapi
Also bulbapedia was down when I made this so I went to a couple different sites including smogon where I had to count through all the different moves to figure out which was correct so they’re probably a bit off.
I feel like this could be optimized instead with random moves u generate a random number and choose from that pokemon movepool
I misread the title of this video and thought that you were giving Blue this team.
i thought u did a great job w the sprites!!!! great video too 👍🏾
Such a fun idea for a video.
YAY ETU Is Back
I went in to this video thinking that you beat this fight with 6 Spearow, how hard could it be?
Consider me impressed lol
Also Mean Look/Perish Song could possibly have worked out?
Anyway great video FJ!
This is a super fun idea for a video man! I hope you do it again! And I loved your sprites :p
Plez make another this was so fun to watch
Loved it! Brutal move set
Very creative mister
the thing is .... an AI didn't create six Pokemon.
it generated a bunch of random numbers that you interpreted.
which is kind of dumb because chat gpt can create mons just fine
Stats, move sets. abilities.
with out the convoluted bullshit.
like ... honestly might as well just have rolled dice for all the difference it makes here.
kind of just took all the interest out of the video for me.
because the tittle is false.
it just didn't create a pokemon.
I’m not a fan of ChatGPT, but the concept of programming in a whole new team to beat the final boss sounds fun! If chatGPT is giving you issues, maybe you can ask your friends instead!
Have you tried to see what happens if you directly ask ChatGPT to generate you a set of Pokemon stats?
Idk why but i loved what am i, anyway this video was amazing!
This was amazing I want more! Lol
Great idea
I would reroll moves that are useless in trainer battles. Mean Look is just a brick
The sprites are so cute
very cool idea!
this was sick
The sprites are not bad, they just need a bit of cleanup if you ever need help with sprites I could help you if you want.
I loved this
I love the concept. Maybe it gets better if you just use moves of the type(s) you’ve got for the Pokémon? That way it might be easier to get moves that work?
YESSS ETU
you have an incredible team you just don't know how to use it.
