Learning to save your own garden seeds? Join me in the melon patch for an up-close lesson in hand pollination! Learning to take the place of the bees and pollinate your squash crops by hand allows you to ensure that the seeds you are saving this year will be true to type next year! This includes both and winter squash (acorn, spaghetti, delicata, butternut, kabocha, cushaw, turban, pumpkins, hubbard, and more) and summer squash (zucchini, yellow crookneck, pattypan aka scallop, Lebanese, small decorative gourds, luffa, and all the rest).

You have some unique colors of squash!
There is so much more to squash (and vegetables in general) than what we see at the grocery store. There are literally thousands of kinds of squash!
@@ChocolateBoxCottage I find myself 'saving' many of your videos to re-watch again, or I have to take notes during your videos to help me remember multiple items I did not know. Watching your videos I realize you know so much more than what I see on HF!!! Wow! You truly 'blossom' on your video's! Love them!
This the first year I hand pollinated anything. I have 4 watermelon plants I really want to make fruit and I did it even with bees buzzing around my head 😂 I do have 3 melons I can see.
Yay! Melons are a bit trickier due to the size of the blossoms. Good job! 🍉
