She had a room we called her hoarder room full of stuff she couponed. All the neighbors knew if they ever needed help or if they knew people that needed help, to send them to our house and she would give them whatever they wanted for free. And a lot of it was donated to our church members also. A lot of stores have changed their policies so its harder to coupon now.
My mom too!! Every Sunday we’d buy stacks of newspaper for the coupons 😭😭 and sort them out and spend the day cutting and listing. In my adult life I go to the stores without coupons and no list 🤣
Your mom was a theif then. Coupons can not be used over the value of the items. It says so on the coupons themselves. if she is leaving with more money than she went in with then she is stealing from both the store and the company that puts out the products. More often than not they would use coupons for things that simply are not on the coupon.

The cart of bananas are like the math problems we had as kids “Kalley has a cart of 200 bananas for $1.50 each how much did she pay?” Edit: I know that bananas are per pound it’s the first thing that came to mind lol and thank you for 2.8k !
They weigh the bananas. All they have to do is type the number and let the scale do the work. Idk where you work but the only place I’ve had to count bananas is when working at Costco. It would still be annoying though, no joke.
Can you just type in the count number? We watched her count them twice. Id tend to believe whatever they said as these are rule+detail oriented folks who Know what theyre getting 99% of the time
I'm literally a cashier and I can confirm 100% that there is a button. You press "QTY" for quantity and press the number of how many they're are for example "QTY 65 of" and you scan on of the bananas and it'll ring it right in.
I was thinking the same. Thinking why is she not concerned about them briusing. Well, now I know why. She didn't care if they were SMASHED inside the peel. She was donating them....... Well, you know the poor, they'll eat ANYTHING......😠
takes no math skills aside from reading "$1.79 off" and looking at the price of the actual item to add/subtract. You literally just add and subtract, it's not hard they just have no lives outside of this.
This was released in 2012 and store policy have changed a lot in those years so even if there were there will probably be no more in MY OPINION I think its all scripted what type of shop will be willing to open for some huge ass camera crew saying they will scam them and it's not big business it's just some small supermarket business and in what world is it that there is always some sort of error or mistake happening in all the videos
And majority of stores don’t have physical coupons anymore and simply just already have it on sale in the system. It saves cashiers a lot of time especially with more store opting for self checkout.
Yea, all this happen years ago when couponing was nuts and they was takling coupons any from anywhere lol. but it was a phase or has died out some even though i think some still do it but not seen doing as much as before.
In the UK we are only allowed to use one single coupon per transaction and I know some stores limit the amount of one product you can buy between like 2 and 4 (eg my local ASDA (Walmart) only lets you buy up to two boxes of cat food), so seeing all this couponing that goes on in the US absolutely amazes and also slightly terrifies me. 😂
I had that problem when Walmart was doing the price matching. I stood in line for literally a half hour for some butter and it was hot in the store. By the time I got my turn, my butter was soft. So mad.
I was at the dollar store and just had 1 item. There was only 1 cashier and a woman with 3 carts full of stuff. I rushed past her right as she was reaching the register. She was so mad and started screaming at me as I handed my $1.06 to the cashier and ran out of there. Sure it was a little rude on my part but I was not about to wait for all that lol
From my real life expirence in retail, these people were always extremly rude and we caught a few who were using fake coupons... so glad im out of this kind of retail
I think that I wouldn’t mind ringing through coupons to see how much a person saved, it would be a break in the monotony of ringing through groceries, maybe a bit of a challenge in an otherwise boring day. But couponing doesn’t work like this where I live. We have limits (one coupon per customer per item, can’t combine coupons with sales, etc) so someone could come in with 200 bananas and could only use the coupon on the first one.
Lol I would do it if I could to like allsups does and scan it once and then enter how ever man there are in the computer. The coupons just go through so that’s easy
@sxftsitii ッ I’m 100% sure that the bananas have touched worse than the floor. I have seen on MULTIPLE occasions at different stores roaches in the banana boxes because they get in the boxes for travel. Same with spiders that come in the boxes. They’re also a plant grown outside and has more than likely had bats, birds, and who knows what else touching them.

I love the competitive version of this show. It’s so great that they get to give it all to charity. We don’t have couponing like this in England. Y’all are so lucky you can try and do this. Yeah some stuff might not be needed right away and why would you need 40 pizzas in one go; but movie night plus party and your the best mum in town. 😂 They used to do a show like this growing up. In a fake supermarket themed studio. 3groups of two contestants would answer food or supermarket questions, at the end they’d do a supermarket dash and pick up an inflatable (which had a money amount on), after ringing up the goods the team with the highest shopping bill would win and they’d be allowed to take it all home with the cash amount on the inflatable.
I like that they donated to charity. I was laughing at Callie's crying then suddenly smiling. Though I know it was edited that way I was still like girl you are crying over coupons. Also treat bananas better if you really want them to be used by charity. They go brown way quicker in the way you pulled them off one by one.

@Gay and Proud - this was an old film. But, you can still do stuff like this... you just have to do it in smaller transactions. No more $500 shopping trips *because* the stores limit the number of coupons per transaction. But, stores make 8 cents per coupon, plus the value of the coupon from the manufacturer. However, the time it takes to ring them up, I think, is likely more than 8 cents of value to them, based on cashier's wages.
In my area they won’t let you do this anymore. People used to come in with literal binders full of coupons and leave with hundreds of dollars in merchandise and the store owed them money in the end, so they shut it down really fast.
I coupon, but I do it in small doses. Some storage managers will take it personally like it comes out of their paycheck. I usually save 50%-70% off, but only get 10-20 items per trip.
I used to work as a cashier and I couldn't stand it when people like Callie would come into the store. When the company began changing it's policies that you could only use a limit of 3 coupons for the same item and your reward points would expire in 30 days, it was chaos for the store and my coworkers. All the regular coupon fanatics would get so mad at us about the change, like it was our fault. 🙄 What a nightmare.
The policies at stores were changed because of extreme couponing (obviously Idk this for sure, but it's a safe assumption), so if the customers want to blame someone they should blame themselves LOL
The unfortunate thing is when you donate to a food bank they dont give the food away until it's close to. Or past expiration date. So alot of the donated food doesnt get eaten anyways.
@@syasyaishavingfun I think it's because they try and use everything they have. so they put the new food aside until the old stuff gets donated. I guess no food waste is a good thing but nobody likes old food

The logical purpose of a coupon is to entice you to try an item you otherwise wouldn't purchase, or maybe to clear out some overstock merchandise. Not to walk away with hundreds of dollars of free merchandise lol
Coupons are a scam because they usually involve you buying extra, like 15 percent off if you buy 2, then the second item just sits because you never use it.

@big I agree! they do seem fake but I have worked as a cashier before and seen some super couponers and they've gotten pretty close to nothing with their coupons too, I just think this is unnecessary because nobody needs 200 bananas lol I know it went to charity in this case but there are people out there who hoard food and other supplies to the extreme... remember the toilet paper outage? so it's possible but probably doesn't happen as often as this show wants to make it seem.

Initially, I thought the same thing, but if you've spent all that time calculating this kind of shopping with the assumption that you'll have 100% savings, 46 cents means that something went wrong. Like she said, if a coupon isn't scanned or if some get stuck together, it could throw everything off. In the end, it comes down to numbers vs. human error. Either way, this level of couponing is impressive, but I know I could never do it!
She only had to pay 46 cents for $525 worth of groceries and she wasn't happy about it.
Tsk. Women.

My mom was a hard core couponer when i was a kid. She walked out of stores with baskets of food and the stores ended up paying her lol.
Your mom sounds like a great person
How do I get started?
Where do I find these crazy coupons? Best I seen is 1 dollar off a 10 dollar purchase
Your mom was a theif then. Coupons can not be used over the value of the items. It says so on the coupons themselves. if she is leaving with more money than she went in with then she is stealing from both the store and the company that puts out the products. More often than not they would use coupons for things that simply are not on the coupon.
@@ZibadaHawkins incorrect, you used to be able to stack coupons with sales and the coupon would apply before the price adjustment because of the sale, so your profit actually came from the sale the store was running

They weigh the bananas. All they have to do is type the number and let the scale do the work. Idk where you work but the only place I’ve had to count bananas is when working at Costco. It would still be annoying though, no joke.
I’d love it because it would waste so much time in my shift that it would go by a lot faster
The fact they got all of that for $500 before the coupons is crazy lol. $500 get you 1/3 of what they have there now a days lol

@@aloeleaf this does still happen - a cvs worker I've seen as low as 22 cents but now they break them up into smaller transactions & carts
Not all stores allow this, stores set limits on quanity
True
Donating it all the charity was the best part.
My chest started hurting when Melissa noticed a mistake. Man I would’ve just given her 46¢ without verifying lmao 😭
I forgot that they aren’t really cheapskate, they donate a lot of it
Some of them do. A lot just hoard it.
Imagine waiting in a queue for to get 1 can of coke and there was that lady there couponing for like 3 hours 😃
I had that problem when Walmart was doing the price matching. I stood in line for literally a half hour for some butter and it was hot in the store. By the time I got my turn, my butter was soft. So mad.
Literally cashier comes back from lunch and is on that one customer till shift is over 😂
this is why i love small stores near me because they let me cut in line when the person in front of me has 2+ carts and i only have 1 item
Well normal people they would go “here you go first I’ll go after”
I was at the dollar store and just had 1 item.
I’d quit my job if these extreme couponers came to the store I worked at. Stores don’t pay their cashiers enough to tolerate this bs.
Also, the stores don’t lose money on coupons because the coupons are from the manufacturer of the products so the store gets reimbursed.
What is the difference between scanning food and scanning coupons? You still have to stand and scan.
What difference does it make to ring up product or ring up coupon?????

Also it has shown some of these people went to jail for fault coupons

I was waiting for this 😃
Exactly, flip it back on em for trying to get our money!
These companies are not victims come on now.
Them:getting everything for coupons

That's so awesome that they donated it to charity.
Never did I ever think I’d see someone cry over coupons-- what a strange world we live in
It’s people like this that make it to where you can only use one coupon for each purchase at least where I’m from
Where I live most stores don't accept coupons anymore its all digital through an app
3:07 “She has to find an employee” shows someone walking into employee doors and she doesn’t notice
Coupons are a scam because they usually involve you buying extra, like 15 percent off if you buy 2, then the second item just sits because you never use it.
As a kid I was genuinely fascinated with how people coupon but now as an adult I think it's just hoarding and I feel sorry for the cashier.
