Worked grocery in high school back when this was allowed. Anyone who says cashiers love couponers are liars. We saw a couponers come in and didn’t got to checkout until closing time. She had 5 carts overflowing. The cashier refused because her shift was over in 5 and she’d have to stay for at least another 3+ hours to check her out and process the coupons. The manager insisted she help the couponer. So, the cashier quit in the spot. I don’t know if I’ve ever been so proud of a coworker.

Like she said, if a coupon isn't scanned or if some get stuck together, it could throw everything off. In the end, it comes down to numbers vs. human error. Physical coupons are becoming a lot rarer in the US these days. To help combat people stealing the Sunday newspapers from newspaper machines to resell on the internet, companies starting moving up the expiration date to make it harder for the seller to get the coupons to whoever bought them. This also made it harder to line up coupons with sales to get things extra cheap. Also, I lot of stores stopped doing the double or triple coupon days as well.
Now days the major grocery stores all have apps with digital coupons tied to your account, with limits on exactly how much you can purchase.

I love the competitive version of this show.
It’s so great that they get to give it all to charity. We don’t have couponing like this in England. Y’all are so lucky you can try and do this. Yeah some stuff might not be needed right away and why would you need 40 pizzas in one go; but movie night plus party and your the best mum in town. 😂
They used to do a show like this growing up. In a fake supermarket themed studio. 3groups of two contestants would answer food or supermarket questions, at the end they’d do a supermarket dash and pick up an inflatable (which had a money amount on), after ringing up the goods the team with the highest shopping bill would win and they’d be allowed to take it all home with the cash amount on the inflatable.

I used to do extreme shopping for my family and donated what I could get but wouldn't use (peanut butter...daughter allergic to all nuts). It felt good donating food and hygiene products. But these shows enlightened the stores as to how we did it and they have since changed their policies so people can't get free or under store cost. Bummer since it financially helped my family and could help others. I could not have been a stay at home mom for my challenged kids otherwise.
